- i thought it would be a fun project to recreate one of my favorite songs from aphex....so here it is
this is not my original song.
original by aphex twin
shoutout to SynaMax for finding the main sample of the song: • How to recreate the pa...
GEAR USED:
ableton and stock effects
behringer ms-1
tal-sampler
arturia dx7 plugin
roland r8 drum samples
airwindows console 7 & iron oxide 5
valhalla vintage verb & valhalla delay
this is almost like the closest thing we have to hearing a more clean modern rendition of Xtal that minus some of the delay and the quadraverb hiss
agreed
Agreed it's almost closed to be synthwaves of sadness from bad and good word how begging. 💥😭❤️
when your remake is so good it gets copyright claimed
WOW man, apart from the kick that is a little on the soft side you really nailed the overall soundscape! very impressive!
Jeff Mills & Richard D. James right before taking an analogue bubblebath.
That's Jeff Mills?
@@Demention94 yes it is the wizard
@@Theaphextwin972 ha shit! Didn't recognize him somehow. They're both wizards.
I thought it was the original for a sec because it’s TOO GOOD!
Yup, got claimed. AMAZING JOB
okay.
@@Crazexpert okay.
@@Dwhifwhidwhiqdn12 you look like a very happy easter egg
This literally sounds exactly like the original good job man!!
This is gonna blow up once it reached the algorythm
I listen to this more than the original or any other version, you did a really great job! :)
り、リメイク…?? すごすぎぃ!!
Remake?? Incredibly accurate!!
..just like the thumbnail, i would just like to stand close to Aphex. I wouldn't want to talk to him or even introduce myself. Nothing needs to be said. "Thank you" wouldn't even suffice.. just sit close to him as he played a set.
Aphex is next to Jeff mills in the thumbnail they're both legends
damn didnt know ishowspeed and richard were chill like that
Dude, this honestly sounds amazing
insanely accurate lovin it !
This is so fucking Clean! Definition of ear candy
This is amazing. Great job
This is really good props
So beautiful 💯❤️Nice work
Incredible stuff man!!
Nailed it brother
insane stuff right here
damn where'd you get the pad and lead sounds from they're spot on
the pad sounds are actually the same sample like the vocals
Evil at play - Steven Jeffries
the main pad is the same sample as the vocals. i found out from watching this video from SynaMax: th-cam.com/video/d57a3LRdAVg/w-d-xo.html
that is insane, thanks
Damn, this is good
Damn. Good job man
beautiful
In the original, the low end is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. it's almost unlistenable at higher volumes. This fixes that. Thank you.
There is no such thing as too much low end ;)
see Tame Impala - Glimmer@@Pamberjack_
I totally disagree!
Never had seen Jeff with that face, he admires Robert, as we can see.
Mills was beatjuggling in residencies around Detroit in 82
Robert ?
@@DiotraxSecondlives Robert D James
@@Sebrewer32 lmao ryan d james
Good work!
sick dude
Nice stuff!! Oh and just wondering, where is that picture from, it is nice!
NICE
sick
🔥👏
no shit- nice work
nice mate
wow I like the tape crackle
is that what that is? it sounds almost like chewing noises
Happy new year guys
Happy new year
like this
WTF!! What a beautiful cover, really is this a cover? Or is this original version? XD
hey man ik this was meant to remake the original which it does espectacularily, but could you upload a version without the hissy quadraverb sound? i'm just always very curious what a clean, minimal reverb/tape effects of Xtal would sound like today
Something about this song makes it feel like it okay that the world is ending. I just watched a video about nsfl content and this just heals me.
Wow
OMG
extremely impressive, you used Evil at Play as the vox right, like in that one other remake vid right?
Yep. Props to that dude who made the video.
@@mistermiller9674 Thank you, I appreciate it!
@@SynaMax of course. that was a GENIUS level find on your part. i have no idea how you did it.
@@mistermiller9674 It took lots of patience and looking at spectrum view in FL Studio, lol
would love to hear a version without the tape crackle. i want to know know what it would sound like if xtal was released today
true
i've been making one like that actually for the past bit that i hope will sound like that, i have the vox keys and main singing and most the drums, the only thing throwing me off is i can't find hats as accurate as this guy (maybe i should just use the roland r8 samples), and more importantly i can't seem to recreate the pad that comes in around 1:50. if i can get that part done i'll post like a "modern version" of this song minus the crackle
The other guy in this picture is Jeff Mills btw
welcome to "when the remake is good enough to get copyright claimed" episode 42
Xtal + Drink + Smoke = Beautiful beautiful vibes ^_^
what daw?
have u the project- file?
Project file?
So accurate you’re gonna get copyrighted
Wow Jeff looks young
I think it's because this photo could have been taken in the late 80's 👍
What is the drum machine/ samples you used for this? I love the sound. The hats and the snares? as well as the kick? I appreciate it :) Keep up the good work
Roland TR-808 on the original. Assuming he used samples here? Very cool...
actually the original was a Roland R8 with the rare electronic card which had the 808 samples@@Pamberjack_
@@fuzylogik Can you cite a source for that? I’m interested to know…
bruuuh crazy man snare bit off but pads and synths are crazyyy good
whole mix lacking a bit in mids and low mids
wow drums did you use? especially the sound at the beginning?
drums were roland 808 and roland r8 samples
who’s the guy with richard?
Jeff Mills
IShowSpeed
Where s the bass??!
Most remakes lack the atmosphere the atmosphere is nearly needs tape his and qaudraverb
