Does Drone quote have a SISTER company in Westchester NY they would suggest? I have been approached by 2 companies who were scammy - the Lease option was supper scammy if you read the fine print.
Im John Im located in the USA. California is my home. Out here in CA the fact of the matter is everyone is just used to paying double for everything. It doesn’t have to be that way with your power! The amount of savings to go solar can be 50% -60% less than what you pay now for electricity. I am thankful to help Bright World pay 100% of the next six months of your electricity. In efforts to help during this economic crisis we offer our brand new solar relied program to homeowners. Ask me to get you qualified! I’m here to help even with a secondary system! We offer virtual visits for the Energy Consultation. Zero money down and no up front costs. You don’t have to be rich, you just have to qualify for our solar solution and in 2020 we are offering everyone a chance to take advantage! Hope you’re well and feel free to reach out to me anytime even if you’re out of state!
My wife and I have been approached by a solar group and have been considering it prior to them coming by... Thank you for producing this video !!! this has helped immensely!!!
WOW! So the short story is I met with an installer, a pushy salesman who never replied to my email questions after the consult, and happened to search TH-cam and found you...WOW- what an education I have gotten:) I applied for an estimate with DroneQuote and will be speaking with them this week after providing them with my info online. I clicked the link on your channel and HOPE you get the credit for whatever we decide on solar. Great points about the roof being protected by panels, the increase in energy cost per kWh, and the options on inverters and panels. Thank you!
So I've completed the process with DroneQuote and here's a couple of observations. My experience has been a good one, great customer service, good follow-up and follow-thru, and a genuine interest in getting me the most affordable solution. But people should know Dronequote is a solar broker, not an installer. No drone flew over my house but rather the same GPS software other companies use to map the roof and prescribe a solar array. As a matter of fact it was the same aerial footage from June 2018 available on Google satellite. That's not necessarily a bad thing but you should know drones are only used to verify the dimensions after you pick an installer. I got 1 quote not 3 because as it turns out they have a "one- strike" policy with installers to terminate them if they're sub-par and there's only one installer in my area- a competing solar solutions company. They're handed an install ticket, and then you deal with them. Dronequote is out of it at that point, that's a broker. If something goes wrong, you'll have three companies to chase- the broker, the installer, and the manufacturer with likely each one pointing fingers at the other. It was a good experience, but an investment like this over 25 years is a relationship, so finding a local company, especially in the same state is a smart move. As an example, Dronequote said there was no Arizona tax credit, but there definitely is. Local companies know the laws as well as the weather in your area. The only disturbing thing with DroneQuote was the 2 year wait for a service call when a "weather anomaly" is the only probable cause after monitoring shows everything working correctly. Does anyone want to wait 2 years for a technician because your system isn't producing? I could hardly believe that was true and asked the question numerous times in different ways because I thought for sure I misunderstood. Your channel is great- keep up the good work!
I emailed these guys asking several questions about a rather complicated solar setup. They promptly responded with helpful information without trying to sell me anything. I adore Elon Musk, Tesla, SpaceX, and my new Model 3, but the same questions I sent to Tesla solar a couple of weeks ago have gone unanswered.
Your comment would help on Yelp I’m sure! The amount of savings to go solar can be 50% -60% less than what you pay now for electricity. I am thankful to help Bright World pay 100% of the next six months of your electricity. Ask me to get you qualified with my company. I’m here to help!
I’d go with a good local company before going with the big boys, including Tesla. Although I own a Tesla I put on high end Panasonic panels and Enphase microinverters which allows monitoring each panel on your mobile device.
Great interview Ricky! I am in rural mid-america and solar panel installation is a mindblowing undertaking at the best of circumstances. Add a remote installation in a rarely covered part of the country and it is amplified beyond words. I took a chance and emailed DroneQuote for any guidance they might be able to offer, and Sinuhe called me directly - with VERY informative input. I have researched for quite some time and had many questions - and it was wonderful talking to someone without any conflict of interest. Thank you for the great channel!
Well done Ricky. These guys were incredible, likeable, knowledgeable and presented themselves impeccably - just like yourself. If they haven't got their own TH-cam channel; they should. Love your work Ricky. Finally going to support your channel $. Steve, from the Land Down Under.
Wow his system is 9 years old. Thanks for that information. I bought another solar power system 7.4 kW for 6800 USD. Much more cheaper now compare on my 1.4 kW system 3 years ago.
Thanks for this! We were really turned off by the high pressure in-person visit from Momentum Solar and were looking for other solar options without having company after company waste 2 hours of our evenings. I’ve now filled in the quote form on Drone Quote with your link. Thanks!
Seattle is $0.12kwh and only moderate solar radiation but the power company has to give you full value credit for energy you send to the grid. I did a SunPower system at $3.40 a watt with a 25 year warranty and it will pay for it self at the 15 year mark since I got 3.5% on the loan. This includes the 2019 30% tax credit so technically it was $2.38 a watt
Great video, but one note - A PACE (Loan) Assessment is actually very easy to include in the sale of the home. At least here in California the solar PV increases the value and the interest is simple interest, not compounded.
Great video! I just had my solar array installed yesterday. I can't wait until all the inspections are finished and I can flip the breaker to on! I have a 6.03 KW system with 18-335 watt LG panels and Enphase micro inverters. You should definitely get at least three quotes and make sure you are comparing apples to apples as far a total output, panel, inverter, labor and system output guarantees. I live in Georgia where the power company rates are pretty reasonable. But the state does not promote or encourage solar or battery storage.
I live west of Chicago. in 2019, Illinois offered a 40% incentive to go solar which is what convinced me to buy. so middle of last year i had a 3.3 kw grid tied system installed, 11 solar panels, @ 300 watts each which used the mini inverters mounted on the back of each panel. The whole system cost installed was just under $15,000, with the 40% incentive, I wrote a check for just over $8,000 and at tax time I got my 30% federal tax credit of $4,000ish and my out of pocket for a 3.3 kw grid tied system was just over $4,000. My electric bill now is $16 per month, which is the minimum, so I figured my pay back will be 2 1/2 to 3 years to pay it back. It was a no brainer. All my friends that I told last year to go solar, now regret not taking advantage of the 40% incentive that is no longer available. I told them it's still worth going solar for the savings, it will just take a couple more years to break even. It's nice running my A/C and the bill still not over $16. And on install day, these guys showed up early in the morning and left 3 hours later with the system completely installed. What took the longest was getting city approval, including permitting, and electric company approval. Next, I am waiting on battery technology to get cheaper and I will get a power wall for power outages, enough to keep my fridge, freezer, furnace and enough for a few other small devices, but for now, I have a generator.
The USVI is 0.43 cent for the 2500 Kilowatts and then 0.39 after that, last month we used 180.00 kWh and our bill was 77.45, the major amount they charge is fuel cost.

Does DroneQuote possibly have any plans to expand their business to Europe (Spain) in the near future, or do you know of similar companies for folks living across the pond? I really appreciate the style and information density of your videos. Great work!
Hi UserXt, I really appreciate the question. We haven't any plans to make it across the pond yet and saying otherwise would just be an attempt to boost my ego at this point which I'd rather refrain from. Though I will say that the European space agency did land a rover on a comet once, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to think "one day".
Many states have a local bank that offer loans using the solar panels as the backing on that loan. Giving you interest rates like a home equity line of credit.
Ecospider5 perhaps you would love to learn more... The amount of savings to go solar can be 50% -60% less than what you pay now for electricity. I am thankful to help Bright World pay 100% of the next six months of your electricity. Ask me to get you qualified!
I love my solar but some things they don’t tell you. Snow slides off really easy and puts a heavy load on your gutters. Plastic gutters might break do to this. The snow falls off the roof in huge chunks so protect things on the ground like air conditioners and delicate plants. If your attic is accessible you can install solar with no visible conduit. If it is installed well you stop noticing it’s there within months. But if installed badly that might not be the case.
Ecospider5 I’m 😢 to hear about anyone having a bad installation experience. If you ever need solar improvements or have any concerns feel free to reach out to me anytime. My company Bright World stands firm with a 10 year roof warranty and full system monitoring for home owners piece of mind. I’m here to help.
Bright World. Good luck with your company. We need as many good installers as we can get. Thanks for being available and answering people’s questions. I have 29 panels on my roof. I put 1 on the north side so I can decide when 11 more panels on the north produce cheaper than the grid. I have a feeling when the price is below $1.75 a watt it will be worth doing. I will move my 327w panels to the north and get new 400w panels for the south.
I installed a 3.0 system 12 years ago. Did the numbers and paid it off in 5 years. The three guys on roof were wearing a harness but not using a lanyard, very dangerous!
California makes such a good sounding board for tech testing. If it wasn’t for Californians getting extorted at every step on utilities, taxes, gasoline, and government programs they would not feel the need for electric cars and solar panels. Because spending $10,000 on solar panels somehow makes sense in California. This has helped to bring the cost of solar panels down to make sense elsewhere. Kinda crazy really. 👍🏻
I left San Diego, California in 1990, best move I’ve ever made. I loved the climate, ocean and that mountains and desert recreation was near by. But dense population, bad traffic, taxes, over reaching government and huge cost of living are all reasons I’m glad I left. Leaving Colorado now for many of the same reasons I left California and going to Florida. I’d like to live in a place I don’t feel oppressed and where the government looks at me as a cash cow. Your solar videos are interesting and we would like to go with a very robust system. Thank you for producing this video!
The arbitrage rules in California are awesome, most other states don't allow or have limited to a minimum return. Unfortunately states have created all powerful utilities that end up running their governments and influence the laws to restrict benefit to solar & battery consumers.
Stryker Ace oklahoma’s OG&E Offers one to one net metering. Oklahoma is also rated sixth best or top 10 at least in solar potential against all the other states in the US. Also some of the lowest cost of living throughout the United States. The only problem we’re having is trying not to look so good that a bunch of leftists move here and fuck it all up. Lol only slightly kidding...😏 P.s. 26% Federal tax credit
yes, if your paying 50cents a kwh go get solar now!! but i pay 13.5cents a kwh hour. i put solar on my roof and im not sure if it was worth it. after doing the math it will take about 20 years to break even (more if i have to replace the inverter), and there is maintenance. cleaning snow off when its on your roof is a pain in the a**. also to my surprise my utility company charges me a minimum usage of electricity, so if my solar produces 100% of my usage i still get a pretty big bill of $65 using no electricity at all. fyi, if you get solar it probably will not produce what they tell you, it will take longer than you think to break even, you will have surprises, and there will be maintenance. it is also very important to know how your utility company will handle solar, some will pay nothing for your excess production, some charge extra fees, all i can say is do your research and try to get all the facts before you commit. its doubtful the solar company will give you all the facts. one last thing, if you want to go off grid with batteries forget it, the cost of batteries will never pay for themselves at this point in time. it would take $50k in batteries to power the average home for a week. grid tie is really the only way to go.
DAN KOLLARS it’s nice to know that you’re sharing valuable information on your experience with solar to TH-cam users here. There’s a huge difference in many of the solar providers and I’m very aware of the market and how uncertain the experience may be with other providers. One thing I am sure of is that Bright World provides the greatest customer experience with an educational approach!
I wonder if the tax credits are like the car tax credits, where it’s built into the pricing that the manufacturer sets. And if it’s an honest manufacturer then their prices should drop as the tax credits go away. Like the model 3 price dropped $5K beginning of 2019. Seems like to me that tax credits aren’t really ours to begin with, but the manufactures’s. Considering most won’t drop prices but continue pricing to keep that little extra built into their pricing.
There should be a prismatic film you could put on your solar panels to redirect the light to a more perpendicular angle to the solar cell. I imagine them cut to different angles to suit different roof shapes and exposures. Couldn't we also bend a few more wavelengths into the usable spectrum?
murderdogg I’m very happy to have seen your comment as I would agree with your concept to be beneficial! That’s a great question/comment. Six months of electricity paid in full by us at Bright World if you qualify for our solar solution!
Redironot I'll say that the behind the scenes look of 2bit's production is stunning AND Ricky made it very fun and was patient with the multiple takes my partner and I needed. I felt like I was in the news studio...if only i didn't have a face for radio, haha!
Is it worth it going solar in Texas due to low energy cost unlike California? When are you coming out with the video on Texas and what we should know before embarking on a solar journey in Texas.
Here in South Africa , no tax credits . We just have periods of load shedding ! You complain about price increases of 8% /year ! Here it is running at 15% + for the foreseeable future !
We have a good retail net-metering plan but I can only install solar on the east slope at 20 degrees because the west is shaded. My rate is $0.1001 / kWh. I have not found a way to make that pay..
@@pauldesi I did not include the grid-connect fee because we get to pay that with or without solar. I do not feel the taxes are significant. We had our yearly rate increase in this bill. Non-summer is 8 months of the year. The energy portion of the bill is $144.71. To offset all the energy portion I would have to produce 1445kWh in 33 days or about 44 kWh per day. I do not see how I can make a system that could produce 44kWh pay off with a return of $4.39 a day or $1600 a year. The bill will be more than $1600 a year when AC and summer rates kick in for 4 months but I will not get a much better production credit because off-peak in summer runs until noon and my east-facing array would not produce signific past that time. The sommer off-peak rate is $0.1209 till noon then mid-peak (M-F) goes to $0.1671 till midnight except for 5-8PM when Peak is $0.2941. If I could get some 5-8 sun on my array would help but even south-facing array does not produce much after 5PM.

You forget to mention the theft factor. In rural areas it's like having a jewelry store on your roof for the taking when you leave for a few hours or days for a trip or what-not. In cities there's always a little old lady with nothing to do who will call 911 when something suspicious is going on. You take that for granted but it's the primary reason why I decided to throw in the towel and instead of off-grid paid SoCal Edison. Solar farms have 24/7 security.
Don’t think that’s a concern at all. Most of the cost is in installation. A panel sold used is a lot of hassle and weight for little money. First I’ve ever heard of this aspect. But yeah 10 years later I have had no issues :)
I am so glad this new law to mandate all new construction must be 100% energy self sufficient was passed after I built my place. One hour north of downtown LA and it's the wild west. I had three breakins during construction. Tweakers gone wild looking for dope cash. I understand where you're coming from. I lived in SoCal for years. However, a little bit outside of the big urban areas theft is a huge problem. I am an ardent fan of projects with 24/7 security like solar ranch one next door to where I built my place. Rooftop solar? Not in the boonies. Not if you want to keep your money and wits.
First time I've heard Jevon's mentioned in a positive context... Can concur on the roof protection/sun blocking. My crawlspace is much cooler in the summer, house obviously as well, and the shingles under the panels are *definitely* less aged. My array has been in place for a while - 2005 - so time for a refresh.
Joe Di Lellio, I almost strained a neuron with that comment...I jest, but really though, I've seen Jevon's paradox across many different contexts and you're correct that usually, it's not a positive mention. Perhaps we can put together some quotes for you if you reside in one of the states in which we work in. I'd love to discuss this in more detail with you as your project may provide for some great content material.
You’re in the market so get your quotes and take advantage of the wonderful incentives available now for solar investments! I am here to help, so let’s talk about your roof and help you understand your options for solar! Zero down, no out of pocket cost and huge savings!
It’s pretty cool to be able to beat those power prices that are at a record high right now! We pay for 100% of the next 6 months of Electric Bills if you qualify.
Bright World John Sablan Yea ? That’s awesome, but how? The rates are going up and it’s at a historical high! Even this video mentions the 8% annual increase, but i’m seeing 15% annual increase with the changes on how they are charging for the power! It’s not honest energy anymore. It’s for profit!
You finished on a NEGATIVE note... The day one can go to any hardware 'type' store and buy any and all solar components to 'easily' install DIY, that's the moment we all win.
@@TwoBitDaVinci Bear in mind if you go DIY you probably won't get any rebates without forking out for certification and all the burdensome red tape involved especially if connecting to the grid. Still, I think DIY is the cheapest option, but there is a of time involved in research and learning. Panels are cheap now, a good inverter $1k-$3k and batteries from an old EV or recycler can make it worthwhile. A large part of the cost is in surveying, racking and installation, so if you can do that yourself you can really save.
I setup my own 3.5 KW solar setup back in 2012-2015. I scaled up. i used Ebay 600 W @ 24V micro-inverters($150 each). Hook appropriate # of solar panels ( wired @ 24V) to each inverter ( below inverter max load) and plug them in to proper amp outlets. It works flawlessly. I have multiple sized solar panels. I bought them in this order as i ramped up/ learned about solar: 4- 65W (home made/soldered myself 36 ebay cells @12V and encased them in clear epoxy on tempered glass w/ aluminum angle homemade frame (in 2012). I learned online and just went for it. It cost me $200 to make one homemade panel since i used $60 piece of 1/4" glass for strength/durability. I overkilled everything and 6 months later i could buy these much better pre-made panels: 8- Ramsond 100W($180ea), 8- Ramsond 180W($320ea),( 1 year later) 4- grape 265W($362ea) all monocrystaline. I bought them from 2012-2015. I also have 24 golf cart batteries (2 banks of 12 wired @ 24V) for backup power. I use 25% of solar panels for charging batteries. Each bank of 12 can run refrigerator or freezer, computers, lights for 3 cloudy days, If sunny banks gets recharged and can last indefinitely. I want a CyberTruck to replace my battery backup system so I can use all my panels for grid tie ( plug in to wall socket). I wouldnt consider a system that id dint install myself since its extremely expensive. im a contractor so I used to doing things myself anyway
@@tabbott429 Well done and congratulations! I made my own panels too using sunpower cells on A3 foamboard for portable use - now have 5 x 120W panels and they weigh about 2 pounds each so I can carry them in a backpack to charge my ebike. Unfortunately not waterproof, but could lay them out under a sheet if necessary.

1 $/Wp only for the panels? That's still expensive. Here you can buy panels for 0.44 $/Wp and install a whole system for 0.7 $/Wp (if you do the installation yourself) or 1.1 $/Wp (included installation by a company). Are there some tariffs that make it such expensive?
Nice vid lot of info. What i am seeing are panels for owned property. I am at this time renting and want to know if there is a system available to me that will not violate my rental agreement? Or is this just wishful thinking?
Good question... I’d say look at your utility company and ask if there is a way you can source your energy from solar. Some utilities have programs like this
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me as I’m willing to help you find out the possibilities. In my experience there are ways to help renters benefit from solar.
Panels are more efficient when cold, and if sun elevation is low then tilting the panels toward the sun will prevent snow from settling. Just don't get so many hours in the winter to generate, but in the summer you get loads! Still worth it.
Richard Talcott it depends on the kind of roof you have and the complexity of your roof. If you have an easy and level ground surface and a two story clay tile roof with a large tree near the roof, then yes, the ground install may make more sense. Otherwise in most cases, the ground install may be more expensive.
@@duhkitchn4273 I'd definitely go for a ground install...easier to maintain and the fire hazard goes to zero as far as the house is concerned. I also have a relatively new metal roof and I have no interest in fastening anything to that.

The presenter is right: one would use more power once solar is installed and I would say solar works best in the tropics not the northern or southern latitudes..
Addendum to my comment:- 8) No one in the Solar Power Industry tells the general public about INVERTER THAT THEY NEED TO BUY AND IF IT GETS DEFECTIVE (IT WILL) NEED TO SPEND ABOUT $300 ~500 FOR REPLACEMENT PLUS LABOUR CHARGES. There's no need for SOLAR THING. Go for LED and remove all unwanted wall warts from service. Do Laundry minimizeafter 1800 hours, especially the dryer and dish washer. minimize cooking range usage during peak hours. I can go on and on... but this is enough. Thanks for reading. take care, stay safe.
Very informative video. Thanks. I, too, am a San Diegan and am contemplating installation of solar. I'm concerned on how to predict the capacity I need. I currently have avoided running my A/C because it puts my SDG&E bill in the $350-$400 per month range (or more, I suspect). I average about 190-200 kWh per month, but last September during a heat wave with the A/C running, it was 750 kWh that month. I'm at a point with medical issues where A/C will likely become more and more necessary for me, and I definitely want to not have $400+ per month bills. Thoughts on how to plan for the capacity/capability? Do I shoot for a system that gets close to that 750 kWh/month level, or do I shoot for a system that's at 80% of that? 60%? Half? I get that during the high-usage months I may have to pay something for electricity if I'm at the 60% level, but in the off-months when I'm running about 200 kWh per month, I may be putting power into the grid and getting credit to offset the high usage months. Okay. I'm rambling at this point. Just curious if there's an industry target for not overbuilding your system.
Interesting. $3.00 a watt in San Diego, but the FOB Shanghai panel pricing per watt, right now Feb 8th 202, is as low as $0.14 per watt. Mind you, this is panel only and doesn't include the inverter, tie-grid and the biggy which I suspect is the labor cost and battery. Thanks very much Ricky. I have learned a lot about solar pricing in the US from this video.

Solar panels work in a way that's obvious, but never suspected. They absorb and dissipate the heat from the sun before it can heat the roof and dramatically reduce the cooling bill during the summer. it works best if you can cover as much of the roof as possible, even to the point of shading the walls. Another DIY project is converting indoor lights to LED to use the electricity from the solar panels. LED lighting will probably become cheaper as homes are converted from 120V AC to sometime like 12V DC. Removing the AC to DC electronics from current LED bulbs will make future LEDs cheaper. The electronics that has to deal with 120V AC is usually the first things to fail. That is my opinion anyway.
Here in sweden a lg panel(25y warranty) costs almost three times as much as a china panel(10yrs warranty) is the lg panels really worth the difference? The same question could be asked for optimizers. They raises the price for each panel by 25-50%, is the optimization really that much, or is it better to just buy more panels?
Looking for a small system where it would run a window air-conditioning or a diy split air conditioning system when the sun is shinning meaning independent of power company all together. Will keep the house cool during power outage. Anyone heard of one or am I still ahead of time ? Are there ac units that would tolerate direct output from solar panels without complicated inverters, batteries etc. ?
I live in an area that can get as much as 8 feet of snow, is there a way to heat the panels to keep the snow off them? I am disabled so climbing on my roof to clean them off is not an option
hello I want to install 5.2kwh solar panels and 4.8 batteries. I do not have a gas installation at home so everything works on electricity, also heating in winter :(. I live near London, I wanted to ask if I would have real savings on my bills
It's a lot more economicall to turn 12 volts into 110 than to buy 12 volts everything 12 volt appliances not many to choose from, more than likely not great quality and more expensive than 110 appliances being 12 volt not much power and poor performance, 110 appliances you have 10 million choices, 110 way better.
What William said. Another thing about running 12 volts is that to get the same number of watts, you need ten times as many amps as 120. That means instead of wiring your house with 12 or 14 gauge wire, you have to use super expensive monster cables. I knew a guy in the 70's who built a house with 12 volt electrical. It was a massive costly error. I'm pretty sure the place ended up getting bulldozed and rebuilt later.
Ira Tozer perhaps you can help me understand more... please tell me what kind of 12 volt appliances are you interested in? Have you considered solar in the past? You have the right idea but if you’re going to assume anything I would hope that you assume that someone is in need of some genuine help! Thanks for your comment and concern I really do appreciate it!
Even the "honest" guys are perpetrating the efficiency scam. Panel efficiency only matters 1) when you are space limited and 2) when you want less panels for asthetic purposes (buyers don't generally care about how many panels are on the roof). I would never throw money away on a more efficient panel unless you have space limits. Try to get to 110% of your annual usage and use the cheapest panel you can to do it. All this means is it will take up more of your roof space but can save you BIG on total cost. More electricity for the same cost is the goal here.
for financial reasons maybe not, but you can still have independence and be more self reliant. You don't NEED a gun, you can trust your cops, you don't need a retirement account, you can trust medicare and social security to be there. I guess my point is, I like self reliance :) cheers and glad to have you as a new subscriber! I LOVE texas
@@TwoBitDaVinci Yes I have plenty of guns. Last name is Weatherby. The best price I got was $23k for 13000 kwh (year) I agree that being self sufficient is great. We are debt free, have a food forest in my back yard, harvest rainwater but the last item, solar, doesn't pencil out yet. But I learned from your video. Does CA still have the mandatory solar on new construction starting up this next year? That should help bring costs down. And I never thought of just having batteries as a back up. I'll check into that.
Yes CA does require it for new homes. I will say this, if you are thinking about it, use DroneQuote, if you look at comments you'll see like at least a half dozen people in TX have gotten solar via us and Dronequote. If nothing else, get a few quotes, for your curiosity, and you'll have all the data. Also remember the tax credit is phasing out. Consider using our link www.dronequote.net/TwoBit
I believe the information on the Qcell Panel is no quite correct. Qcell makes panels that are 19% efficient that compare to some LG modules and cost 1/2 the price
All of Canada, much of the North USA and much of Europe have WINTER. What happens to the solar concept WHEN IT SNOWS??? Where I live in Newfoundland, we have about 50 days of sunshine, per year. What now?
@@igneousc Not nobody but only those that have tons of money to be "socially responsible". What they do is TOKEN. Wake the fuck up. There are regions in the US that are DESERT and have 90% sunshine, for 12 hours a day. If ALL of that area were solarized, the entire US of fucking A would be energy independent with NO emissions for hundreds of years. Ever heard of Elon Musk? He knows this and is actively doing something to bring this about. What have YOU done lately? Canada is not a solar solution. Canada has no deserts, nor enough daylight hours. Canada does what it has to do to be a first world country. Hell, even the Saudis and the Quataris know that oil will not sustain them forever. If not for oil, they would be milking CAMELS for their sustenance. And just might have to do that if Musk prevails. If I were him, I'd be watching my back. But he was smart, got HUGE exposure so that if anything weird happened to him,,,, you know the drill. A guy named Lech Walesa took down the Soviet Union. Bet you never heard of him. He was a plumber (or electrician) in Poland's shipyards when his moment in history came. Even the CIA never saw that coming.
James Bonde great question. I’m here to help in the great 🇺🇸! Contrary to popular belief solar panels will thrive on direct sunlight. Although you’re concerned with the lack of sunlight energy a solar system can produce in a snowy environment you could actually still benefit from solar energy for a particular amount of time worthy of an effort to lower your carbon footprint. If you need help further please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am in the USA. I’m here to help.
My question is: how to refinance from a bad solar loan to a better solar loan? The solar credit that the sale person used on us made it sound like we were getting back $x,xxx from the government. The loan company I’m with expect us to pay $x,xxx by next year or our loan payment goes up another $70 per month. I never owed money on my tax return. So don’t get any tax credit of said $x,xxx. Plus the loan company is only taking interest only. What does that mean? Simple. My principal on this loan has NOT gone down at all since I started paying 7 months ago. Come February, my payment goes up. When that time comes, in the long run, I will be paying about $20 more for my electric use than when I didn’t have solar. Don’t get me wrong, I love the type of panels I have, and the hybrid electric water heater, it’s the loan company I’m not happy with.
I agree! I think a better term is "economy" panels in the sense that they deliver a real kick, or bang for your buck, relative to LG, Panasonic, or Sunpower.
hmm at 7:35 the left guy steps on the panel 2 different places and it even bends. for me this seems a bit gambling if the quality/durability of the panel is as good after then treatment.
Mark Bjering you’re smart and very observant. It would be a shame if the installation was ruined by any workmanship. My company takes pride in our educational approach to providing solar, so please feel free to reach out to me for anything I’m here to help.
I was all in the first half of this video but then they said q cell is a budget panel and only 16-17 percent efficient. That's false. 19.9% and with their technology they can hit 98% at an irradiance of only 200 watts per Sq. Meter. (1000 watts per Sq. Meter is ideal conditions) those panels that offer higher efficiency won't do the same if it's an overcast day.
The Model is awesome We are undertaking the same model no sales reps and are doing kind of what this guys are doing no sales approach let the customer make the sedition.
As a solar installer with over 3000kW personally installed, don't believe everything these guys are selling either. Do your due diligence. Get several competitive quotes.
@@TwoBitDaVinci Yes, as an installer, doing the hard work - I'm so tired of all the many, many online lead generator, sales types that use unscrupulous data techniques to harvest "interested" solar customers and sell them to as many installer companies as possible. Many times, I've talked to customers who merely breathed the word solar online, inundated with solar sales calls and have really no interest. I like these two guys however - they seem genuinely interested in promoting solar. The three brands of PV panels they mentioned are the three most expensive, highest profit brands in the business though.

The whole US market is a big scam, in Europe solar prices are around 1.00 € (1.10 $) per installed Watt, price including installation. (even if you factor in an import tax of 35% for china > US the maximum price should be around 1.56 $ per watt). Why is solar still so super expansive in the US?
They said in CA it’s $3/watt so if you want a 3kW system it’ll be $9000. It’s all there. Panels vary in price. Look at the price per watt like they mention
Copcon, that question is very common but unfortunately, it is akin to asking "how much is a car?". There are many variables that go into factoring the cost of 15 panels some of which are things like the panel type, panel wattage, inverter type, additional scope of work required, and even how you pay for the system. We'd be happy to discuss with you in more detail how much installing 15 panels on your home would cost if you would like to submit a request for a DroneQuote. Thank you.
@@TwoBitDaVinci Wow that is very high as I have found new panels on line for as low as .30 and cheaper per watt so a whole system for a 10 KW system would be 3K for just the panels and the inverter(s) could be another $1500 and wires and brackets another $1500 so all in $6000 before permits and labor when I get a 27 to 35K quote for an installed system it is just insane how much is marked up I will be doing my own system. If I am willing to buy used panels I can cut this in half for the panels as I have found them as low as .15 per watt

Thank you!
Glad to hear it bill. Sinuhe is my go to guy if you ever have questions just reach out!
The BEST interview and information on solar EVER !
Yeah these guys always answer my questions. Good stuff!

You da man, 2Bit. Great video....again!
How much was your system? My dad lives in Georgia and want a system.
Well done.
In 12-42 months you will see a massive improvement in solar tech!
What should we be looking for?
Great video and I can't wait to download the consumer guide. BTW, awesome AE86 on the bookshelf "Takumi" 😉
You saw that! ... my son loves that ... and has since lost it ... it has to be somewhere in this house though!
Would you mind sharing your installer?
Super/Great video!! We have Enphase and love the inverters!

Great info guys thanks!
A lot of great info here, thanks guys!!!!
Old and outdated info.
Great point. There’s a passion and curiosity around being sustainable here for sure. Our prices really are outrageous though!
Don't forget Colorado. I know someone there who spent 25 grand on a skimpy little system. That was probably before rebates but still.
Lol only slightly kidding...😏
Sun Power has an assembly plant in Ensenada, right across the street for my old home.
There should be a prismatic film you could put on your solar panels to redirect the light to a more perpendicular angle to the solar cell. I imagine them cut to different angles to suit different roof shapes and exposures.
Couldn't we also bend a few more wavelengths into the usable spectrum?

This was copied from the Jan bill.

That’s a very interesting point Jack. I’ve actually never heard that concern, but still worth mentioning.

You finished on a NEGATIVE note... The day one can go to any hardware 'type' store and buy any and all solar components to 'easily' install DIY, that's the moment we all win.
I'm planning to attempt a diy install in the coming year so i'll share my findings soon!
I fricken jealous of you folks. Where did ya do all of your research? I want to install panels myself on my house and 3 bay garage.

I wonder does cold climate affect generating energy like less sun and snow seating on panels?
Panels are more efficient when cold, and if sun elevation is low then tilting the panels toward the sun will prevent snow from settling. Just don't get so many hours in the winter to generate, but in the summer you get loads!
Still worth it.

Is a ground install cheaper than roof mounted?
Richard Talcott it depends on the kind of roof you have and the complexity of your roof. If you have an easy and level ground surface and a two story clay tile roof with a large tree near the roof, then yes, the ground install may make more sense. Otherwise in most cases, the ground install may be more expensive.
Great question. What would you in choose if either were an option for you?
@@duhkitchn4273 I'd definitely go for a ground install...easier to maintain and the fire hazard goes to zero as far as the house is concerned. I also have a relatively new metal roof and I have no interest in fastening anything to that.

The presenter is right: one would use more power once solar is installed and I would say solar works best in the tropics not the northern or southern latitudes..
Have you thought of having a hybrid system and adding a wind turbine?
That's weird I payed $1 a watt for my solar panel off grid. I got a 200 watt solar panel for my PT Cruiser off-grid solar system.
I’d honestly write Sinuhe and pick his brain. Sinuhe@dronequote.net
Trevor Weir The amount of energy bill savings to go solar can be 50% -60% less than what you pay now for electricity. I am thankful to help Bright World pay 100% of the next six months of your electricity. Ask me to get you qualified!
I got 26 of those 400 watt sunpower panels
wow that's an amazing system, what did you do for inverters?
Do they use the multi layer 40% efficiency panels? Parabolic is very cheap, and not that large. Why dont we see this being used? Wind turbine?

Here in sweden a lg panel(25y warranty) costs almost three times as much as a china panel(10yrs warranty) is the lg panels really worth the difference?
The same question could be asked for optimizers. They raises the price for each panel by 25-50%, is the optimization really that much, or is it better to just buy more panels?
What about lighting? Does it damage the panels?
Looking for a small system where it would run a window air-conditioning or a diy split air conditioning system when the sun is shinning meaning independent of power company all together. Will keep the house cool during power outage. Anyone heard of one or am I still ahead of time ?
Are there ac units that would tolerate direct output from solar panels without complicated inverters, batteries etc. ?
Yes there is such systems.
Why is Solar still so expensive in US? Here you can get 9 kWp for 10.000 $ (=9200 €). If one does the installation yourself one can even get 14 kWp.

hello I want to install 5.2kwh solar panels and 4.8 batteries. I do not have a gas installation at home so everything works on electricity, also heating in winter :(. I live near London, I wanted to ask if I would have real savings on my bills
because they make a lot of 12 volt appliances for Recreational vehicles, can I convert my entire house to 12 volt except the oven and the dryer?

Qcells are up to over 19% efficiency now. I wouldn’t consider them a cheap panel

They have a range of products. Are they are more affordable than most which is why they’re great and popular!
