Another great video! I totally respect guys who prefer to use profilers and modelers but I just prefer and love good ole tube amps. I struggle with too many options. Tube amps help me clear my head and focus on playing rather than tweaking, etc. I don't need to have to many choices other than different tube amps and cabs from which to choose. :) I love when my amps have nice features and options. Digital modellers give me option paralysis, so I have had to avoid, lol. Personal preference. I had been gigging with digital for years but sold off my digital and went back to tube heads. They just work for me! Everyone is different. Favorite tube amps are from Revv, Bogner, Diezel, EVH, Friedman, Engl and Mesa. Great video brother! I have never tried Mezzabarba but would love too. I hate these idiots who say that a boost is not necessary. It's a preference. I hate to sound harsh by calling people idiots but I'm tired of people acting like their preference is the only way. Honestly, I wish I had gotten into boosts years ago. I listened to guys who said boosts were mostly for older amps like a Plexi that needed a boost to get into metal territory. It took me years to realize how much I love boosts on every amp I play. I wish I had experimented with boosts and ODs more years ago. I love a good boost. Even with my Revv, I love a boost. I'm not boosting for added gain, I am boosting because I love the feel it provides and also for sculpting my tone hitting the front of the amp. My Dual Rec sounds amazing but I love boosting and sculpting the tone. Some of the best amps I find work best with a boost. I actually prefer an amp to not be too tight. I'd rather control that with my boosts and ODs. Love a boost on my Bogner, Mesa, Revv, etc. Revv makes boosts, Friedman makes boosts, Bogner makes boosts, etc. They do not suck. Hell, Revv even suggests using the Revv Tilt with the Revv Generator.
Thanks for commenting. I love tube amps too. They're amazing! And I LOVE a good boost pedal!!!! Sculpting my tone and getting that great feel and response is key for playing enjoyment. Cheers!
@@TONEWARSgearshow You said it brother. Sculpting my tone and having that feel and response under my fingers is what it's about! I freaking love boosts and ODs. Thanks to you, I have an ODD Box on the way. Recently got a Direwolf and love it.
The Mezzabarba Trinity build is a work of art. However tone wise I couldn't dial in anything that I liked via straight in, boosts, eq etc... Wasn't happening, that said always try an amp for yourself. What works for one person might not work for the other and the reason you have to try before you buy.
Yeah if your amp is above 4K it is going to be under a higher level of scrutiny and expectation. Love the honesty!!!!! Cracked me up with the bands “on tour” I knew at least 10 different local groups that said it when they went from MA to ME to play 2 shows 😂😂😂
It happens here all the time regarding "bands on tour" lol. All the Facebook posts about being on tour and they're literally 3 hours away. Regarding the amplifier, I agree totally. if you're gonna spend $4000 on an amplifier, it'd better be freaking amazing.
I find when it comes to digital vs real amp that when I find something I like on digital I end up buying the amp as well. I thought the pumpkin sounded kind of average.
Ya screw the Evil Pumpkin...channel 3 did sound anaemic and turned me off. For $4K I'd be getting the ENGL Founders all day long. It's 3 times the amp too for onboard very usable options. Amps aren't dead....I own 11 of them 😊🎸. Great job on the video Jarrod!! Honourable and always honest my friend
Thank you Tony! Yeah, I'd much rather have the Engl SE Founders Edition. I wish I would have mentioned that amplifier as a option in the video, I totally forgot LOL.
"Boost Karens" 😆 I've had my fair share of boutique amps and the only one I thought sounded better with one was the Diezel D-Moll. I would also add some Engls, VH4, Herbert, Dover 50, EVH 5153s and the Wizard MTL on the list of amps that don't really need a boost. It's great to hear your info and opinion on real amps vs digital. The market for boutique amp builders and players seems to be bigger now than it's ever been, however, digital certainly has its place and both will probably keep doing well for different reasons.
Was wondering if the Pumpkin would scratch an itch other amps hadn’t, was thinking it would be nice to know the science behind it to see how it compared to others, no use buying an amp you already own in some other form or over hyped that doesn’t make the cut. Thanks for your honest opinion! Both amps MT100 and Evil Orange Dude didn’t live up to expectations.
I bought a Lion to demo from Amazon. It’s nice, but it doesn’t have the same life to it as tube preamps like Kingsley Constable, the Synergy stuff, or even Arthur Sounds preamps. I played direct into a 50w RTS2/50 tube power amp and then directly A/B. Don’t get me wrong, you can get usable tones. But it kind of felt like it had a blanket over it compared to the dynamics of existing tube options.
Great video Jarrod! Pedals are cool man, its like a spice for your favorite recipe 😋 it flavors the dish.. yeah the Fortin was not going to change the world, the lion pedal is nice for the plexi stuff but 400.00 kinda out of reach for me ! And i seriously doubt tube amps are going anywhere soon some of the best rock n roll ever recorded was on tube Amps ..👍🍻🤘😈
I love guitar amplifiers I have a bunch of tube amps but I love digital too ! Why not have the best of both worlds and just make some music on what ever you like! By the way love the channel keep up the great work!!!🤘🤘🤘
I don’t think tube amps will won’t go away in near future. They are the source of our awesome sound(with cabs etc). One of my amps is Peavey JSX and I love it. What computer from that time feels fresh and exiting? Even now people are waiting for new Kemper or helix. I love plug-ins and modelers but this is nothing more than computer and algorithms that become outdated by new hardware/software.
If amps are dead, then how come the new Engl se founders edition is already on back order at Sweetwater. A $3800 amp sold the fuck out. Amps aren’t dead.
Well because modern amps are catering to a small demographic of what is likely older men who enjoy the hobby and have money to spend. There isn't a massive demand for tube amps and most gigging musicians that aren't playing massive stages are not using tube amps. A limited amount of amps are created which have a high degree of 'finishing' and feature sets marketed towards a smaller demo. This happens with nearly every industry where the tech becomes some what anachronistic, the hobbyist keep it alive, but on a smaller scale.
@@Whizzinby777 Exactly. They got 10 of them, and sold them. LoL! Maybe they will get 5 more next month. In the meantime... they sold 500 Boss Katana's. 😆
I play through a Helix and love it , but there will never be a replacement for real amps (esp tubed) there's times where you just want a growling half stack to being you back to reality , I think its like a hot cheezy pizza or a thick juicy steak there both great just in thier own ways, and on the Evil P , before I would throw out that much , I would trust your opinion all day long and I agree there's some awesome amps in that price range that are proven
All these reviews with these extraordinary amps and just a 57 is ridiculous. Do you want to hear the amp or a 57 ? The 57 is quick , bright and grinding which is one thing to capture. But it doesn’t grab the essence of the amp . Move a 57 a inch in any direction and it’s a different sound. The ribbon pulled back a bit let’s you hear the amp . Pretty much every modern metal recording with a reasonable level of popularity uses a boost.

Awesome job ! Any chance of demoing the new Victory Kraken 50w with presence knob ?

Thanks for staying honest and what I always suspected Fortin is all hype and no good
My pleasure!! The EP is ok, but definitely overhyped and vastly overpriced.
Treat opinions. So true as well. ❤
I like the boosts and the way you dial in amps, I dont always like the sound of the amp butttt thats why im watching a video!
I think for touring digital is king. For studio work I think tube amps are here to stay
I love how these UA pedals sound, but I find they’re way too expensive, for the same price you get a Tone X and have access to many more amps.
I have no clue what a boost Karen is!? Lol.
I love boosts though!
I think you need to give the Evil pumkin a second chance. This time read the manual bud. I see other channels playing it with no problems.
What channels? I can barely find any videos of it other than this one and Killertones video. And a few crappy cellphone vids lol
Is the Lion boosted? I have it and sounds way different. Yours sounds sick. How are you running it?
Going direct into a daw blows
I was running it 4cm with the HX FX. I boosted it with the horizon drive in the HX FX
No you were right. You’re better!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Sorry the fortin was too heavy for you😂. Sometimes things are just too heavy to handle. 😢

The lyon sounds okay, don't see a point in it personally. I dislike how is has that forward squished sound in the lows and that grind up top

ok but what about sumadeez
Tube amps will come to an end when tubes are no longer made, not by being replaced.
Tube amps represent less than 1% of the tube market. The military still uses vacumn tubes of all types. Tubes will ALWAYS BE MADE!
@@benburnett8109 Not according to the amp builders. There are only three choices of companies to buy tubes from today.
