The idea of having the opportunity to speak to a deceased loved one would be incredible in so many ways
Apart from the comfort of being able to speak to them one more time, imagine the knowledge they coukd give you about their reality

Wow, am I so glad I found these. I was always a Twilight Zone fan, as well as a radio fan. Found myself not listening with the transition to the internet to do everything, I dropped listening for awile. Then I had a traumatic injury and PTSD and insomnia followed. I find these here better medicine than anything. Thank you for posting these. I liked the old dramas on the radio, mysteries and never knew the had The Twilight Zone on radio. Now I do.

You and I are one in the same. Though I don’t have PTSD I have a brain that never stops generating ideas or remembering the most inane minutiae from childhood or invents s*** for me to worry about. Insomnia is my constant companion . . . but these audio stories are a balm to make the long nights more bearable. I sometimes even fall back asleep. I hope your condition improves, my friend!

This is very well done for a radio drama. I remember the original episode from The Twilight Zone. The only thing that is "off" is Miss Finch told her to disconnect her service. In reality, she'd have told her to change the number to stop the calls. In those old school days, that's what people did. or trace the calls. Disconnecting was never mentioned to a customer by the phone company. They wanted that money.

I'm sure Margaret the nurse is trying to be upbeat & positive for Miss Keene's sake, & that hearing a constant stream of negativity gets tiresome.
However, if I were old, alone, & disabled I wouldn't want to repeatedly hear a young(er), able-bodied person I'm paying to be with me tell me my feelings aren't valid & that I have a bunch of invisible friends who - for some reason - can't bother to visit, but still love & care about me. LOL. Like, how would that make it better? Margaret can leave the house, drive, date, see her friends & family, go dancing, take a walk, work out, play sports, have sex, etc, while her elderly charge can do none of those things but visit with her friends, & then we're back to that; she has none. What a sad & frustrating life.

This is a great point! I imagined Margaret as a married woman who went home to her family every night. No single, young female has a spare television!!! Lolol. Love your comment.

Exactly! Very well said and completely spot on! I can just imagine and know exactly how that would feel! For your feelings, fears, worries and genuine concerns not to be validated and just to be wrote off and swept under the carpet and put down to her age/disability. She's so alone, house bound, being misunderstood, vulnerable, alone and isolated. That is actually almost just as scary as the phone calls from beyond the grave themselves which is pretty disturbing. Very good point! This is a great episode and definitely one of the more disturbing stories 🤗👍

I thought she was quite good. In any case, it's definitely a top story. Richard Matheson wrote this - a brilliant writer. He wrote the story for Duel, Spielberg's first big movie. Similar themes in a way, with the sort of bizarre unknown antagonist.

Margaret sounds condescending, and someone who, as a professional care-giver, is suppressing her impatience with a needy client. I think the actress plays the part perfectly.

I disagree. I thought Mariette Hartley did an incredible job. She disguised her voice perfectly to play an older, fearful woman. In reality, she couldn’t have been near this age in real life when this was taped.
