"Night Call" is both chilling and also profoundly poignant. It creeps us out at first, but then gives us a punch in the gut when it's done. Mariette Hartley is very good here in the radio drama. Of course I loved Gladys Cooper in the original TV version ... in which lonely old Miss Elva Keene discovers that the past has a way of coming back to haunt you-- in more than one way.
