  • Well its here, the video and event i have been preparing for for so long... But was it all in vain?
    After a fairly succesful year at malle previously i should of known there would be a spanner in the works somewhere this year, or perhaps two?...

    Enjoying your channel from Memphis, Tennessee. I have a neglected ‘76 T140V that I intend to build into a Scrambler. The subframe is rusted through so there’s the first challenge. Keep posting and good luck.

      @@ColemanCustoms It's a very real, humble channel, and the down's are often as valid as the up's, either way it's extremely watchable, thanks again.

    These things happen with old bikes! No need to apologize mate! I've been struggling with my '79 SR500 for years (worn piston, then a seized (new) piston at 100 kph and now a completely new ignition) and now it's finally looking like a reliable bike. Part of the joy of an old bike ;)

    • @ColemanCustoms
      @ColemanCustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed they do, well they happen with all bikes at some point! Lovely bike the sr500. Glad you're getting it to a stage where it can be depended on, going through it all really makes the difference!

      Just asking on your SR lump are you running a oil line up to the rocker arm and rocker pins, if you're may I suggest you do. You improve the flow more than relying on the old oil feed that runs to the rear of the cylinder. Only saying as Irun a SR (bored 540) lump in my HL500 and I haven't had any oil over heating problems, some folks run an oil cooler but that just more weight. Sham about your ignition going they're normally fairly good, hope you get it sorted.

      @@kevfinn8232 yeah, I’ve run that since I’ve had the bike, but a good tip! The SR has a CDI ignition which can go bad after 40 years, the real problem is that the first year models (78 and 79) have specific combinations of stator, rotor and CDI :’)

    I’d look at what you achieved, you got there you learned a lot. Sometimes things don’t go right no matter what you do or try. These are frustrating but they teach a huge amount when the heat and annoyance fades. There’s a road I really don’t like to drive on my sidecar, always find a sequence of bends is spoiled, until the day I was thinking of my passenger and went through the section so well it was an epiphany.

      Wise words mate! If anything they teach us to progress and be resilient! Sometimes it takes for the mind to wander or look elsewhere before we have our moment.

    Put some rim locks on front/rear will help stop the tube and tyre spinning, bit a bummer when things don't go right on the day.

  • @lawrencecoleman1670

      Wasn’t changing a tire one of the required tasks for the 6DT? I remember a photo of Steve McQueen doing that.
