2021 CBR #3 - Carson CAT 3/4 Race Breakdown - No Man's Land

This race analysis is from the recent CBR #3 which is part of the overall crit race series in Southern California. This is the Category 3/4 field which was pretty fast overall.
The Carson Crit Course is only 0.9 miles in length. It is a 4 corner crit with a super basic layout and one non-technical rolling hill that then swings right into the finish.
I tried to bridge to a late race break away that ended up sticking which was pretty shocking considering the non-technical nature of this course. That pretty much cooked me for any sprint that was left in my legs at that point. Even with a leadout not many upgrade points were on the line as the break away was 4 or 5 men deep.
Live and learn and try again next time.

Should I have chased the break? Not sure, but I do know I race for 1st or DNF. Everything in between is irrelevant.

It was actually a lot of fun, I was just annoyed with my result. I’m not big on watching breaks roll away when I know they’re dangerous.

Good riding out there. Pretty cool to see that you tried to bridge to the RIGHT breakaway, since it stuck. Keep going for it and putting it all out there. I'm confidence that in the next 6-8 months you'll be snagging an upgrade 😀

Yeah this one hurt my ego hahah, not making it and not having anyone help me make it was tough. I’m hoping to get my CAT 2 by end of this season but in no rush! I can race P1/3 nowadays so that keeps me entertained 😆

Hahah, thanks man. Nah I’ll get over it just an annoying one because I knew it was the winning break. The fields have been so content lately just letting stuff go. No one wants to chase because it’s every man for himself. No one is riding with any team obligation so it makes it almost impossible to go track em down. Frustrating

Ohhh you were in the KHS kit? Nah, not worried about anything you did I had the draft when I wanted/needed it or I’d just force my way onto a wheel
