I think both companies are starting to finally make more resolving products but SF still needs better Tweeter technology like an Airframe YG acoustics used to support their soft dome with a microscopic cnc machined aluminum internal structure. McIntosh is also getting better but the Autoformers are not as pure sounding and shoot them in the foot honestly from getting more resolution out of them. There is no air and the warm tone is nice but just off to me a bit.
Jay's Audio Lab Midrange is colored by the bass in the begining of the song when vocal is a bit bassy. In further voices I heard sibilance stronger than in my system. Besides that song sounds good on every system :)
I learn in 1996 that theres no perfect system You gotta creat it within Your budget, room and type of music You listen to. This rigth here its a example.
An prime example of why I hate to label McIntosh or any of brand as Mid-Fi. Sure, you may find things that can do similar things for less money. But when someone gives careful consideration to their strengths and weakness and focuses on how the system interacts as a whole. I always found a reason why they garner so much prestige. The key is to find that rep who is knowledgeable on how to get the best out of them and pick their brain. I have spent many pleasurable hour auditioning Mac components. Glad to see you are dong the same. Happy listening and enjoy.
Yes, finally this room sounds great for sound demos .I think is to do with it's large open space the sound is delivered into with minimal reflections. 😀
The Mcintosh sound is very easy to live with on a daily basis Also works well with focal speakers. Maybe not as resolving as some but at the end of day we are here to enjoy music after all
Sweet system with an ace version of the classic old school hifi sound, living its best life in a nicely sized room with minimal modal issues and a just enough approach to acoustic treatment. Nice
Ah yes that McIntosh sound. Soothing, like sinking into a warm bath. Same goes for SF. I always roll my eyes when people crap on Mac to the Nth degree. Some of it is deserved, but they can deliver the goods when they want to. Eminently musical.
A dream right there. I wonder how it would scale down if your room can't accommodate the Aida?... Same pre amps and amps etc with Il Cremonese for example.
I love the Il Cremonese, for me the best Speakers i have ever heard, i like them even a bit more more than the Aidas. The Cremonese are somehow magic. But this setup is also very nice nice nice looking and sounding.
Aida sounds hugely spacious, very open, going forward and melting your ears with what I would call best ever *on stage* presence, literally you feel being placed on stage together with musicians. Dynaudio feels more mellow, laid back, with sharp pin point imaging precision, mids to die for, it carries you into the concert hall to the best sitting place right there. It is very exciting and truly unfutiguing experience one can have with a musical system. Having had SF Cremona M with tubes and now playing DA Sapphire 30 with solid state I can feel here in your videos very distinctive *house signature* differences between these two. But of all them I loved Gryphon so much better, with precision, impact and buttery transients nailing me down to my chair. As you said, I could easily live with any of these systems in my room, but if this would be my choice, Gryphon wins hands down.
The bass is extremely impressive, along with the mid range. McIntosh purchased Sonus Faber, so the voicing should be near perfection. If I was to nitpick, the treble may need to be relaxed somewhat, but a great performance, nonetheless!
Wow!!! The synergy across the board is simply marvellous. I’d be curious to hear what OCD Miky has to say considering his scathing remarks about Macintosh.
From these videos I think I prefer how Wheel of Fortune sounds on the Gryphon system. However this rig sounds good - I imagine it must be insanely good in person
I must have heard the first track no less than 20 times on numerous audiophile demos and this, by far, sounds beyond systems costing twice as much. Perhaps it's just my headphones, but perhaps that system is just phenomenal.
Thank you very much for your work. Thanks to you, I'm building a concept of what I want, it's a pity we don't have such showrooms! What can you say about Mac acoustics?
Thanks. Appreciate the videos, though it would not be as awesome as being there. A speaker against the wall with soundstage, interesting about your previous interview.
Music system its like when You chose a woman in a lineup of 3 or 5 I might be chose a blonde other the red head skinnie or chobby its a matter of taste that only You should like nobody else
I am waiting for the so called audio experts from your last video to show up here and talk about Hegel and then state the proverbial McIntosh is like Harley comments 😉 Thanks for the videos beautiful sound and the reason I love my Mac so much after owning over 20 amps. I hope to update my Sonus faber Olympica Nova V some day to these beautiful speakers 🙂
I didn't bring up the Harley comment but I did bring up Hegel and Bryston in the previous vid. I am commenting here in that this video doesn't change my comment as my laptop speakers don't articulate sound like being in the listening room. Perhaps the Sonus Fabers have something to do with the sound as well as the Macs. This video shows that this is a very nice system but proves nothing in the differences between this front end or others.
Most comments sound so laughable, I struggle to understand how can a TH-cam video give any idea of how the real system does actually sounds like in the room ?
Very nice system, just a touch too warm for my liking. Listened to Mac 611/1100 v AR160s/6se on PMC Fenestria with Tara Lab on analogue. I rate systems -2 to 2 (-2 Very Warm/syrupy, 2 Very Analytical) on the x axis and -2 to 2 (-2 very forward/lacks soundstage/2 too laid back/not tight) on the y axis. The Mac's (611/1100) was -1.3 and 1.2 and AR was -0.75 and -0.50. The AR was airy, detailed, great sound stage, musical; AR win. Here the Mac's (on UT/headphones) are very musical, lush, however too many veils not enough detail; so my score was -1.0 and 1.0. I like it around -0.75 to 0.75 on both axis. Just too muffled for me; but very very nice looking.
Sonus Faber Aida 2 and McIntosh electronics. What do you guys think? Let me know below 👇
I would take that system. Is there better? Sure there is but there always will be!
Highs and Mids surprisingly clear, not as fast as Griffin or Boulder! A little on the Warm Sweet side but enjoyable! How good is the Cabinet Quality?!
Bet ya he has his own power transformer directly connected to the local power company’s electrical grid! Ask him.

AWESOME! THE IMAGING IS ON POINT! LOVE IT!

I fully agree. It’s obvious to me that the McIntosh system is more musical. That’s why they have been so successful for so long.
Very easy to listen to and enjoy. Too warm and sweet for my taste
The warmth and sweetness comes more from the titles itself….
Yes, finally this room sounds great for sound demos .I think is to do with it's large open space the sound is delivered into with minimal reflections. 😀
I know there are a lot of Mac haters out there but I have listened to almost every high end solid state amp out there and to me Mac sounds the best.
That's good. What matters is what you love. The rest doesn't matter
They're definitely up there, along with Burmester.
It sounds like you have a perfect reproduction going on. 👍
I would take waterboarding over having to listen to the first song ever again.
Cool...I'll hear again...
The Mcintosh sound is very easy to live with on a daily basis
Also works well with focal speakers.

Sounds great thanks jay 👍👍

Yes 🔊 👍
Excellent
Yeah,so it's very rich in the bass and very detailed yet quite impressive considering this is the first time I ever heard Macintosh 😀
Outstanding, Jay.
Thanks man
I like it , the stage is very very open ….
Fabulous!
Awesome 🤩
So do you no longer consider McIntosh to be Mid Fi? That system sounded amazing.
Isn’t obvious? No idea what midfi is supposed to mean but in that case McIntosh is just more musical than any Gryphon setup!!
Ah yes that McIntosh sound. Soothing, like sinking into a warm bath. Same goes for SF. I always roll my eyes when people crap on Mac to the Nth degree. Some of it is deserved, but they can deliver the goods when they want to. Eminently musical.
Well said. I don’t get it either. They will have to tear my McIntosh system from my cold dead hands.
A dream right there. I wonder how it would scale down if your room can't accommodate the Aida?... Same pre amps and amps etc with Il Cremonese for example.
Maybe Aida maybe 🤔
Would you have them in your room Jay with your current setup?
I love the Il Cremonese, for me the best Speakers i have ever heard, i like them even a bit more more than the Aidas. The Cremonese are somehow magic. But this setup is also very nice nice nice looking and sounding.
I like your location videos a lot.
Fantastic Jay
Thanks

The perfect title !****
I’ve always considered McIntosh to be a little too euphonic for my taste, but this system sounds wonderful
For me personally the best sound I've heard here. But i favour valves and the sonus faber style of presentation
Don't forget its LUMIN X1 Streamer DAC! knocks allot of the high $$$ out the box, but they put a hush on it, read they are afraid of LUMIN X1.
Better than original record.
Sounds very pleasant on simple slow acoustic music, although the top end is slightly rolled off. The Boulder would definitely open up the Aidas more
Boulder might not make it sound better despite the openness
Maybe that’s the synergy between sf and McIntosh
Wow, this sounds good over iPhone without headphone
From these videos I think I prefer how Wheel of Fortune sounds on the Gryphon system. However this rig sounds good - I imagine it must be insanely good in person
Nothing wrong here at all!
I must have heard the first track no less than 20 times on numerous audiophile demos and this, by far, sounds beyond systems costing twice as much. Perhaps it's just my headphones, but perhaps that system is just phenomenal.
I Agree All Day Folks are Hung up On I paid $$$$$ but forgot about quality sound that sounds Awesome son.
Thank you very much for your work. Thanks to you, I'm building a concept of what I want, it's a pity we don't have such showrooms! What can you say about Mac acoustics?
Sounds better and more weighty than the other two, but way better speakers here so not an apples to apples comparison.
Who is the female artist
Wasn't it you and OCD guy said that people buy McIntosh for looks and the sound was crap?
It would help if you actually watched my channel...
As you previously stated ..Synergy at its best
Those huge speakers sound great coming out of my 1 inch laptop speakers! lol
Wow 👍
Wow, you can here the singers lips smack over the tube. Not a Mc fan but I take a seat
Great transparency, and fantastic midrange. However, not as full body as large cabinet would indicate.
What song is the second ? Thank you.
Very sweet but I totally miss the low end
LOL, that speakers cover from 20Hz :)
Nice presentation Jay, what is the song if I may inquire?
Found it! Dominique Fils-Aimé - Birds on the album Nameless
@@marcwolff8776 thanks man
Delicious
What track is being played, love it
First track is from the "Nameless"
album by Dominique Fils-Aimé and the track "Birds".

Who sings the first song?
Dominique Fils-Aimé - Birds
I don't know Jay, you spoiled me after hearing some of your past videos in your audio lab!
Is the equipment on a slab of granite??
Yes
I want them my system is welfare compare to this and I'm running a Denon 5800 with a pair of Jamo Concert 8...
You buy what you can afford. I know I do.😂
I wish the guy Jay had on bashing McIntosh can hear this he must be on something.
Vocals seems a little hot.
Most comments sound so laughable, I struggle to understand how can a TH-cam video give any idea of how the real system does actually sounds like in the room ?

Sorry I rank #2 in the 3 presentations and probably #3rd in a bang for the buck.
140 grand speaker
And they look like 140k hands down!
Left and right channels are reversed
Please don't get hung up on $$$$ system like this will blow those $$$$ system out the water Son.
To each his/her own, but this doesn’t sound HiFi to my ears at all! Somehow something is just off with this presentation.
This synergy of this system was so smooth it put me to sleep. Both sets of equipment are so laid back... pass.
McIntosh rules the world baby. Just say’n
This system sounds thin and annoyingly detailed.
Too bassy!
You need to fire whoever is editing these videos. Ratchet AF
Thats me who edits but you could perhaps hire someone for me to do them ?
@@jaysaudiolab for what I’m paying for this video…😉
Too much bass and reduced articulation. Rise somewhere in HF and smoothed mid. Mediocre value for money.
Bwahahaha... you do realize you're watching a video taken with unknown equipment?
Terrible music, play some better music... lol
Boring sound like Mcintosh do, sorry but not musical for me, like demo sound you can not leave with more than one week.
