My issue with Mafuyu’s vocals is that she’s always sounded really breathy and airy to me which I don’t like with the songs she’s in but I was very pleasantly surprised by her Usseewa cover. While I do prefer the original since there really isn’t any way to top Ado, Usseewa remains the only instance of Mafuyu’s singing that I really enjoyed. On a similar note, I love Kohane but I think her voice is forced to be too cutesie and high-pitched. I’ve heard her va perform stunningly in a lower pitch and I wish that was in the game. I think since VBS performs songs with a lot of vocal and instrumental power behind them it would match the vibes of the group better while still keeping with the lighter feel Kohane gives off.
yeah Mafuyu's vocals is usually really airy, in my opinion it kinda shows her personality through it. In "normal" songs she would sing in an airy voice but with songs like Usseewa and Bug which has a deep meaning and character, she breaks out of that diligent soft character she puts. Kohane's VA sounds amazing in a lower pitch (her Villain cover
I think that’s my issue with a couple of the vocals for each of the characters. I love their characterizations but sometimes it doesn’t fit the song. Like the Nightcord aishite aishite aishite cover. They had really light voices in that one while the original sounds more desperate and almost angry. That song is one of my favs bc it’s so powerful and while the cover sounded good it felt very hollow (not in the good emo way). the direction that a lot of the songs were taken feels less powerful or interesting than some of the original songs. Even some of the ones sung by robots. I think that’s why people love Mizuki’s vocals bc they’re absolutely stunning and some of the most solid in the game. They aren’t over characterized. But I guess at the end of the day the game has gotta have lore and I can’t be salty about that. It’s not like the vocals are bad by any stretch of the imagination.
