Egret and Heron Chaser

Stop large wading birds from eating the fish in your pond. You can build this water powered device to chase them away. One great egret or great blue heron can decimate your fish population very quickly.
This device is similar to the "deer chaser" that is featured in many Japanese gardens.

Nice. The water pouring out adds a lot to the scare factor. Will be interesting to see how the birds react. Love the Schmitt trigger circuit. Hope it works on a dark cloudy day.
Wonder if a big capacitor might give it the momentary grunt to get the pump motor started at lower light levels?
