The municipality of Rakovec is located in the northeastern part of the Zagreb County.
The territory of the municipality borders on the west and north with the town of Sv. Ivan Zelina , in the northeastern part with the municipality of Preseka , while in the south and southeast stretches the border with the town of Vrbovec.
