    Spurgeon, you're right on the money with this review. I got this from RevZilla last week and everything you pointed out is true. The tinted drop down doesn't drop far enough (it's also not as optically correct as I'd like), the top vent is good but it feels like I have a cold mohawk, and the visor latch is clunky.
    All that said, this thing is lightweight, comfortable, relatively quiet, really aerodynamically stable, and looks awesome. For the Sena 30K speakers, the cutouts have small protruding clips that actually lock the speaker in firmly, which is sweet.
    Also, the Harry Potter scar on the crown is really easy to remove.

      I have been considering getting this helmet, but that stupid hood ornament they put above the visor bothered me. Thanks for mentioning it can be removed easily.

    • @BrianFrichette
      @BrianFrichette 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@lfreece2 No problem. Here's a bit more on that. The plastic can just be pried off. When I did it, it left most of the double sided adhesive strip behind. This is stretchy, so just pull it very slowly, and without much pressure and it'll all come off without leaving any residue. If it does leave residue use some different tape and stick it to any remaining stuff and pull it up.
      They specifically mention to *not* expose the helmet to solvents or petroleum based products (probably has the potential to interact with the epoxy that the CF is cured with).
      Good luck!

      Eric Kimani. Everything is a commercial. Nothing is sincere. RZ is his US distributor link. Originally RZ would do gear reviews and then you'd see Ryan glow over the same product a month later, then you'd see the others follow suit.
      For the last year they've led with Ryan, then followed up at RZ to close the sale.
      A motorcycle today is like buying a Barbie for a girl of the past. The doll was cheap, but all the stuff was endless, and you need an entire clubhouse of dolls with their own specialized dream house of stuff.
      The reviews are entertaining, like watching Shop Smith infomercials (then New Yankee Workshop) but you don't have to buy all this crap. Gear up to your needs after buying a bike. Wear it for five years, replace & repeat....
      These vloggers with 150 different helmets, 20 diffetent sound systems, some dressed for an Apollo mission, obsessing over $300 packs, $150 gloves or $400 seats. Even if they mock them with a little joke, they're still advertising the product.
      It is fine as long as you know it is a Shop Smith infomercial.

    This is my 3rd year of riding with this helmet, so I think I can give an honest review... Overall, it's great value for money... 2 visors and a pinlock included, lightweight, comfortable and cool-looking, but with some issues:
    1. the internal sunglasses loosen and slightly drop down after some time, disrupting field of vision. The seller said to me a lot of buyers of this particular model complained to him about this. Apparently its a production fault.
    2. The spike-shaped back side of the helmet presents a problem when having a passenger.. collision of helmets occurs more than usual.
    3. while the lower part of ventilation system works fine, the upper part appears to be useless.. I honestly feel no difference in airstream, no matter which position i set the lever to.

      @@adilghazanfar519 no, you can't chin mount GoPro cam with 3M adhesive tape on this helmet... Not enough straight surface.. but you can side mount it, and you get a great shot.. that's what I did.
      As far as noise is concerned, it is average... as every other carbon fiber helmet.. ear plugs help, i wear them on longer rides.

    • @Hobinator17
      @Hobinator17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dylansmith697 pros-
      Very lightweight, great styling, strong build. The interior padding is very comfy and has a nice smell. It has the airfit system which snugs up the cheeks (I dont really use it, but for long rides its there if needed). The drop down sun visor is easy to activate with gloves while moving.
      Cons- they could have used a better chinstrap mechanism. Just the standard metal loops, but for the price and other features included, i can deal with it.
      Ventilation could be better. If youre not moving, itll fog up unless you crack the visor. Maybe this is true of all helmets, idk.
      The box includes a second face shield that supposedly has better ventilation bc of a "pinlock" feature or something. Have not tried it yet out of laziness
      It also gets very loud above 60 mph, earplugs help a lot.

      @@Hobinator17 isnt the air pump system to make it fit tighter and be quieter? maybe try that for higher speed riding

    • @Hobinator17
      @Hobinator17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DonC23 The pump is a sales gimmick IMO. I tried it again today and it doesn't reduce noise or air rushing in under the helmet to a noticeable extent. All it does is exert pressure on your cheeks that can get uncomfortable. If the helmet fits you properly you shouldn't really need the air pump in the first place.
      I also always forget to release the air when it's time to dismount and de-gear. I'm leaving that feature alone from now on, but it's still a great helmet.

    The helmet is true to size. Just a bit tighter when putting it on but after its on, there is more room.
    A small exo ST1400 fits as snug as a XSM exo T120. Its alot tighter when putting it on than the xsm t1200, how ever once its on there is more room inside by your ears.
    The small and sxm T1200 puts a little bit of pressure on top of my ears. Both versions are very comfortable. The ST1400 is better fitting and more comfortable.

      I have the sneaky suspicion this may not be true carbon fiber 100%. I have the poly carbonate 410 that's almost two years old. It too weighs 3lb 11oz on my kitchen scale set on SAE.
      How can a carbon fiber ultralight be only slightly less heavy than a polycarbonate with the same shape getting 4 SHARP stars in collision tests.
      China is sometimes a bit misleading with the visuals. Remember even the padding is showing a carbonfiber style paintjob. Hard to get a true review since everyone is a salesman first. I'd hate to find this is not a laid helmet but a plastic cast one with a paintjob. I didn't see a SNELL testing cert on it. Two years back they were screaming SNELL or nothing at Scorpion dealers. DOT being 'crap'

    I have that helmet for a few months.
    Good:
    looks cool, it is very light, cheap for carbon helmet, 2 visors (black and regular), quiet.
    Bad:
    ventilation is crap! I have to ride with visor open when is above 25 degrees celsius.
    But worse than that is that visor is fogging even with pin lock.
    Sun glasses are also fogging.
    If you ride on cold sunny day, forget that sun glasses.
    If you riding in rain. Well, god luck.
    My cheap crappy exo 500 didn’t have fogging and ventilation problems, but this one have:(

      Most with a drop sunshield buckets don't ventilate well. They removed both ridge vents from the Exo410 shell, as the sunshield needed a cavity. The one on top is barely doing anything if the shield us up. Jet pilot shield means no SNELL testing either, which they were obsessing over, till, like HJC they went jet sunglass.
      I do like the bigger visor tab over mine. Pinlock is nice. Sunshield is going to fog horribly, but who needs sunglass in the rain.

      Here in the US, the Scorpion offers both DOT and ECE safety ratings, whereas the HJC is only DOT-rated. Additionally, the Scorpion is more affordable than the HJC, so the Scorpion is the better value currently. -DrewZilla

    Come on, buddy...... the reason why there's no brow vents is because of that inner sun shield! You see any sun shield visor system helmets with brow vents ever? I don't know, I've never seen one. I suppose it might work if you constantly drop down the shield and ride that way, but with the shield up, it doesn't work hence why manufacturers don't ever include those brow vents and only use 1 vent on top to do the duties.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Bell is a little bit quieter than the Scorpion, but with ear plugs, it's not a big difference. The lighter weight does make a difference though, which is nice. -DrewZilla

      It's hard to say, because both have similarly good construction and features. They are also almost exactly the same weight. The AGV has a slightly rounder fit compared to the Scorpion, so that is the biggest difference in my opinion. -DrewZilla

      The ST1400 has a drop down sun visor and weighs a bit more than the K6 because of it. I would figure out of that feature is a deal breaker for you and your ride and decide from there. Both are solid helmets though.

    Anyone ever review how stable a helmet is at speeds? I've got a IS-17 and a K3, at speed the K3 feels like my head is in a washing machine especially when doing a head check. I think the winglet thing on the back of it makes it turn into a paint shaker if your head isn't dead straight.

    Stop to good reviews about this helmet. Just received one and it's construction quality is very poor, is external carbon fiber sheet is as thin as a paper and too much flexible. Air vents are badly glued with some kind os double side stick band. Wind shield is very noisy. Upper foldable glasses are rough, not easy to up and down.

    Why the hell do people from America that are trying to sell something say “it’s going to have this feature” when it’s already there ? The dude in this video says “it’s gonna have nice deep speaker pockets” if you use the term “going to Have” it means it’s not there yet but it’s coming in the future, if the bloody thing your talking about already has a feature, then say it’s GOT nice deep speaker pockets.
    If you’re going to use the English language, at least do us the favour of using it correctly............... and stop talking so bloody fast too.
