  • This is a limited release and not many people have this version. My Mind is Blown and this version of Tesla FSD is Passenger Approved. This time FSD v12.5 is really impressive. This is Part 1 to keep the video somewhat short. Thank you for watching.

Did my first 40 minute work commute this morning with 12.5. It fixes every issue 12.3.6 had except for sometimes driving too slow. I did have to disengage for route disagreements but other than that completely hands free. It’s great.

@@TotalTesla Haha I'll likely still need my valid driver's license to drive my MYP for fun.. as an example: th-cam.com/video/D_45EO5BauU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KvrAVsnx1TnWrVNx we were at speed of 36mph; all in entering, during and exiting a sharp left turn, followed by an immediate curve to the right, when urgently clearing an intersection safely under an unexpected yellow.
My MYP went directly to FSD v12.5 from FSD v12.3.6, but I rather not be caught without sunglasses on a bright sunny day just to achieve hand-free FSD operation; awaiting FSD v12.5.x improvements.
So, this clip th-cam.com/video/l87gU_pGP5U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZmiB-xU6yumLYNVs is my first drive in the dark with FSD v12.5 (version number visible on the display) installed in my MYP on 7/24/2024. And the day before operating in the dark, FSD v12.5 did a stormy drive th-cam.com/video/jCT8NVfyOQA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RVMqUCvSl9-IxzsF in the evening all hand-free without sunglasses. Along the way, FSD v12.5 seriously hesitated at one intersection with flashing red light during the storm.
And then yesterday, FSD v12.5 got honked at th-cam.com/video/lteUrbp02Mo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EHXVa4b_2-CEmzT8 in a tiny Georgia town for hesitating to turn right on yellow in a dedicated right-turn lane with only a Yield Sign; but FSD v12.5 came to a complete stop!
All things considered, and at the risk of being accused of making excuses for FSD's shortcomings, I still think my 2024 MYP (HW4) did reasonably well.

A few things I noticed this morning -
    1) on a two lane road without lane markings or other traffic, it wanted to be too near to the center of the road
    2) doesn't seem to want to exceed the speed limit (or get close to it in some cases) without me encouraging it with the accelerator each time.
    3) lane planning wasn't too good, for an upcoming right it stayed in the center lane, and for an upcoming straight ahead stayed in the right only lane.
Other than the above, very smooth and an incremental improvement on the previous version

I think for Summon and Banish Tesla needs to provide some extra insurance that we can buy that handles any cases where nobody was in the car. I am not sure if my normal insurance covers that and I also dont want to take on that risk if I am not in control and not fully covered.

    • @neilkelsey1762
      @neilkelsey1762 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It isn't released or half baked - it's FSD 'supervised'
You are supervising it, you are responsible, no additional insurance is needed
When complete FSD is released it's a different matter, but that situation is currently hypothetical

    • @1pros1t

@@neilkelsey1762 I am not talking about FSD, I was using it as an example of where I am in control. I am talking about Summon/Banish where I am likely not even seeing the car and I am certainly not in it to "supervise" it. That is the whole point of Summon/Banish, there is no "supervise" when I am standing on some curb waiting for the car to pick me up.

1:40 to 1:45. Great execution of passing a bicyclist. Don’t try to pass the bicyclist with little clearance or squeeze them off the road. In California it explicitly states to give bicyclist 3 feet of clearance. Stay behind the bicyclist until it is safe to pass.
Some states make an exception for slow-moving bicycles or other obstructions in your travel lane. In Florida, for example, you may cross the lines when an obstruction exists, making driving to the left of the highway’s center necessary. When a bicyclist is traveling so slowly as to constitute an obstruction, a motorist may cross the center line in a no-passing zone if the way is clear and it is safe to do so.

FSD works a lot better than it used to and I've used it a lot up to version 12.3.6 but it will never be able to handle situations that require actual human reasoning. For example I was using FSD the other day and while it was driving road repair workers were putting up barricades to block the road. The car couldn't proceed and it just sat there. I took control, gave it a new course and away it went. BUT what if I was a 5 year old and the car was taking me to school. Would you expect a 5 year old to take control of the car and make it reroute to the destination? Going down mapped roads is one thing but reasoning? No. What if I had a heart attack in the car, would the car know enough to reroute to the hospital or even just stop and call police? No. These are the same reasons plus more are why to robotaxi isn't going to work either. The machine can't reason; this isn't artificial intelligence its machine learning which is at best automation and automation is not intelligence. I think FSD will get better and remove more and more of the mundane parts of driving but 100% antonymous? No.

With all due respect, 12.5 is not "hands free". It is "steering wheel nag free" (as long as FSD can see your eyes). Proof that it is not yet hands free can be seen whenever you engage FSD, a notification pops up on the screen that says, "Keep hands on the wheel". This is because 12.5 is still Level 2. When it gets to Level 3, then it is "hands free". Yes, a lot of beta testers are misunderstanding the "no more steering wheel nag" to mean that FSD is now hands free, but it's not, and honestly, they should know better. BTW, I asked a Tesla employee this "hands free" question, and they agree with what I said above. So I would defer to Tesla on this one, and explain it accurately to your viewers so they are not misinformed.

Huh. 10:08 is a bit sketchy. It made the lane change but a bit late. A real driver would have seen the solid white line sooner and changed lanes sooner.

Any challenging points in the drive? This was hardly a step above autopilot, basically autopilot with a few turns. Straight line, highway, no weavy roads, no difficult traffic interactions, no busy city intersections with pedestrians/congestion, etc. This type of video is misleading as FSD has been able to perform this sufficiently for the -EIGHT- years that Elon falsely claimed FSD L5 existed.

@@TotalTesla Are you going to take FSD into a dense urban environment with a ton of pedestrians, congestion, and torturous roads? Windy mountains? Odd backroads with bizarre Y junctions? FSD 12.5 so far looks like it's no better than FSD 12.3.6, 12.4 as far as disengagements per mile - about every 190 miles you are forced to disengage to avoid killing someone, serious injury, felony traffic activity, etc. It's nice that you pulled a sub 100 mile drive on easy roads without critical disengagements, but it shows the viewer nothing at all that is remarkable.

@@parkersmith885 well I'm trying to figure out do people want a shorter video then there would be no music. There was a lot of content plus I have part 2 to edit tonight. It would have been over 25 minutes if I didn't speed up those parts. No one has time for me rambling on that long and they would stop watching? I added music at the end to signal the end of the video. Thanks for watching.

@@TotalTesla feel free to upload non-sped up content, we'll speed it up and play some music in the background if we want to :)
And it's not like you're obliged to ramble all the time, just let it drive. I think many FSD viewers like seeing all the details and also like the ASMR effect when the car is driving without additional commentary.
For example, the situation at 10:07 seemed pretty dangerous, but easy to miss because the video is sped up.
All in all, good work, keep it going.

@@lashlarue59 did anyone listened to X spaces today? Many of the FSD OG's and Elon have stated they are optimizing FSD v12.5 for H3. I heard a good analogy from Bearded Tesla Guy it's like watching 1080P vs 4K. 1080P is still good enough to have a great view of what you're watching. There are more H3 cars in the road than H4 or AI4. So if they want to have a Robo tax capable car they will need to have H3 work.

@@TotalTesla Depending on who you believe there are 400,000 people who have purchased FSD. The vast majority have never received any upgrades beyond 12.3.6. This means that a small percentage of that 400,000 (basically people with brand new cars) can even use 12.5 and a tiny number of that small number have even received it. That means the vast overwhelming majority have received nothing in terms of product upgrades and will not for a long time while that software is modified to work on the majority of cars. It takes some balls to alienate almost half a million people who paid at least 8K a head for a product where they are getting no support. This is like Microsoft refusing to support users that haven't purchased a brand new version of their products; even though all their customers purchased support. Luckily I'm only a subscriber so I can just cancel my subscription and maybe try it again in a couple years. But I'm sure there will be new, new hardware non support excuses at that time too. You know some of those HW3 cars are only 7-8 months old. I would be PISSED!
