Stored since 1993! Almost 30 years of collecting dust and cobwebs... and I paid just ONE DOLLAR!

  • Locker Nuts episode 610
    Incredible! This locker has been stored since 1993, and the layer of dust, cobwebs and dated newspapers supports that it's been mostly untouched for nearly 30 years. It looks like a wreck, with a lot of junk on top, but we see potential inside. Only one way to find if treasures were left behind... and that's to go through it all. One thing I know for sure -- we'll see profit on this one, because I picked it up for just one dollar!
    To hear one of the songs from the vinyl LPs we found, you can hear it here:

    Here, in the Adirondack Mountains close to the Canadian border there are a number of craftsman who make furniture, etc., with only hand tools. My sister recently sold her late husband's grind stone for, I think, about $200 and a cord of firewood. Not at all wall hangers! Sharpen the blades, and nourish the wood. Very true what my Mom used to say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure".

      Yes, and their finished products beat anything in the big city showrooms, like Raymore & Flanagan.

    The quilt is a tac quilt. Mothers with large families made the quilts that way because you can make them quicker than the quilted quilts

    On the quilt, I have one my grandma and mom made. They used old wool coats sewed together then used butcher string to tie front to backing! I am 75 and would say the quilt dates back to mid 1920 to 30’s. Enjoy your adventure.

  • @jostahl394
    @jostahl394 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My Grandma used to make what they call TIE Quilts...and made them from old wool suits & dresses...they tied them with thread or yarn like the one in your locker...that was way back in the 50's early 60's.

    I have a quilt like that one that my husband’s grandmother made! She called it a rag quilt made out of old wool clothes. She passed away in 1974 at 95 years young! I’m 78 and had it ever since! This one is VERY old maybe as early as 1910!!😮

    Those cane poles took me way back! My grandfather used to make us cane poles and when we'd come visit he had them lined up by height. Back then I hated being youngest and shortest.

    Yes, that vintage quilt will be sellable to a collector. The filler is called wadding and usually of cotton. Do not wash it! Put in a dryer on cool setting along with a dryer sheet. Advertise on EBay, Marketplace, etc. Good luck and Merry Christmas to my favorite family on TH-cam!♥

    Those Grover guitar tuners would be of great interest to luthiers interested in NOS for a guitar restoration. Likewise the three GE vacuum tubes. Depending on the tube type (model number) they could fetch $100 or more, each, on eBay. Both those items were in the "poop box". Good luck with the locker.

    • @tinystar3010
      @tinystar3010 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not only that, did you notice those Grover tuners had Gibson Keystone style tuning tips? Double looped too. There's definitely interest for those, probably moreso than the tubes. Tubes are fragile and they may not even work. He'd need a tube tester to guarantee they work still.

    • @ErnieB
      @ErnieB ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tinystar3010 I did notice. And you are correct, a tube tester is the definitive way to check the tubes. A quick visual, looking for witness marks on the pins, will tell you if they have ever been in a socket. Even untested, they should bring $50 or more, each.

  • @tinystar3010
    @tinystar3010 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Those guitar tuners could be expensive! Grover is a quality brand, and it looks to have Gibson Keystone style tuning heads on them, with the double loops on bottom. That can easily get some nice cash!

    This locker is like a time capsule Jack! Just that shoebox on top in the front! I knew it was a Pierre brand shoebox just from the design on the box and my first " real job" out of high school was working at a family shoe store! Pierre shoes were women's dress shoes, but very cheaply made and didn't last long! It brings back memories just seeing that shoebox! LOL

    A little hello from Chiang Mai in Thailand!
    It's really nice to see this video because we waited "a little"! LOL!
    It's great to see this thirty-year-old "time capsule"!
    First of all, congratulations for your 200,000 subscribers! You totally deserve it! For me you are the best... You say there are others who are better... Maybe in terms of the income they get from it, but you are the only one who does not bother me after 5 minutes of viewing!
    In a last live video you said you were tired and your body needed to recharge a little...
    I have excellent therapy for that!
    Three hours of video editing in the morning... A good lunch... a one hour nap... another three hours of editing, a small break for "tea time" and another three hours of editing !
    After 4 days at this rhythm, you will be in great shape and you will have caught up some of your delay on the videos!
    So, good luck and see you next time... I hope soon!

    I know you can't be an expert in everything, but it always breaks my heart when I see old computers that have value go to recycling. Value today is not in hard drives but in processors and motherboards. you had a pair of ceramic processors, you potentially threw away between $200 - $1000, we'll never know for sure. old processors and old sound cards sometimes have crazy prices. Especially the location where you live, you have a great chance to find them.

    It was fun to hear Janna get excited with each new find!!! That was so dusty. If it were me going through that stuff, I would have a mask on with workmen goggles. I have asthma and can not take a lot of dusty environments. So, it's better that I'm not there! I worry about your health in that dusty environment, as a former USDA employee, I worked in a virology laboratory and came across some nasty viruses that were spread by the fecal matter of rodents in dusty areas. Granted, the viruses were found in the southwest US and Mexico, just a good idea to play it safe and at least wear a dust mask. I don't want to be a "karen" here. Jack, do what you think is best! Older computers have a lot more gold in them then today's computers. You can sell some of the the chips for for $100's of dollars depending on the how sought after they are by collectors. The microchips I think have the most value but the gold fingers and a lot of the other things like crystals etc can be sold. The older the more gold is on them.
