I think the most overarching theme in the series is the loss of innocence. These kids are called upon to be soldiers. They see and experience things that kids should never have to worry about. The fact that they are children contributes nothing to their being chosen--because they weren't chosen. They were just there, in the right place at the wrong time. Things would have been a lot better if that ship had crashed among a bunch of 40-year-old construction workers--but that's not what happened. And that's one of the lessons of war, and of life. You don't work with what you want, you work with what you get.

I would have loved to have read a version of Animorphs with 40-year old builders.

I've been re-reading the series as an adult, reading one book daily (Just finished #35) and I want to thank you for your reviews. I've been loving the series but watching your reviews of each book as I go through them has made the experience much more fun!
I really hope we get a decent Animorphs Film at some point, the books are great (most of them anyway) but I feel like the big problem atm is there's not much incentive to get people back into them unless, like in my case, you had nostalgia for them. What I'd most want for an Animorphs film is something that can both capture the spirit of the books enough to give people an accurate idea of what they are while also being mainstream enough that it can draw in a lot of people and tempt them to actually read the books.

Scholastic is hoping the OG fans will do a lot of the legwork of getting new fans pointing out content for them to buy than them do it themselves. Because fans work for free.

People are very much into 90's nostalgia right now, so I can see why Scholastic would be going for that angle. It won't last forever, though; time is running out.
I'm doing what I can, personally.

I had every book . If a series needs a revival for a amazon prime or Netflix show this would be it. I'm 38 this takes me back to my childhood. Same with goosebumps

Me and my friends very randomly decided to pick up this series to weekly discuss each book in release order. we're on 11 right now and hooked. Its clearly still "children's novels" but very fun and way more exciting than we were anticipating. Only reason I ended up here but I'm happy to hear more from someone passionate about a series I already am very invested in after only a few months! Cheers!
I had to stop watching only because I am trying to be as spoiler-free as possible. Even the Tobias *figure* morphing (that I learned elsewhere) felt like too much to know haha

Are these discussions online, or just amongst yourselves? I'd love to see what you all thought of the books!

I started reading Animorohs in middle school and still have incredibly fond memories of the series. I hope that I can eventually get my hand on the entire series so I can read it all the way through.

I loved the books and if they make a movie I hope they include the 3 books that were a trilogy the discovery, the threat, & the solution that included the character David who finds the cube elfangor that gave jake & everyone the power to morph. Plus they would have to add the book the return where David returns and gets revenge on the animorphs

Maybe? Animorphs may of had to many books. That is just a gas. The books were good. I thought the show was good too. 👽🐊🐍🐕🐈‍⬛🦇🐦
