I love the fact they make you wear the Walter White yellow hazmat suit for that job. An easier way to avoid the Neon Guards is to make the Aurora elsewhere, you can add a lab or Infirmary to your ship and cook there.
If you are going to sell it, take it to the Den as there is no contraband scan, or if you need to get through a scan, just transport the ingredients and make it only AFTER you passed the scan. You could just stockpile all the ingredients including the Chasmbass Oil at the Lodge and make it as needed.
Now I have the urge to make the smallest ship possible, with only the basic requirements for spaceflight and a science lab hab module...so it can be a flying drug lab.
If you get the free Razorleaf ship with the Mantis spacesuit at the start of the game the Razorleaf comes with a Scan Jammer. Also the crimson fleet will run from you and not stay and attack you.
Am I missing something? I got the razorleaf, bought aurora in Neon, put it in my ship inventory to bypass the neon security, and when I flew to New Atlantis, it said I had a 0% chance of dodging the scan, and there wasn’t an option to jam it
@@GhostInPajamasdid you put it in the storage container or cargo? I got the ship and yesterday when I tried to land with contraband I had 59% chance to avoid detection. I kept it in the cargo. I upgraded the cargo to 1800 so I don't know if that had any effect, since I didn't try to land with contraband on the original ship at first. For now I'm saving all my contraband. I made an outpost on a planet where they don't scan me. Harvesting some aluminum and fuel there and then placed a few Storage containers there. Then I just fast travel there each time I find contraband and put it in storage. I'm saving it until I get my merchant skill maxed out so I get the most out of it. Love the game and seriously can't understand the hate it get. Sure the graphics could be better and the Npc behavior is dull, but the gameplay freaking rocks. Soooo much stuff to do ingame. I had planned to spend 5k on a new pc, but so far my old i7 4970 with rtx 2080 does a fairly ok job. It's mostly running game at 30-60 frames but I'm used to fps drops so that does not bother me. My GPU fans sound like a F35 though, so I think I will look at my electricity usage the next week or so to figure out if it's better in the long run to buy a new PC. Ups sorry for the long reply lol.
It's worth noting once your in the elevator outside before the it's illegal to have aurora message pops up you can quickly open your menu and just straight up transfer the aurora into your ship cargo instead of jumping the guard post
3:31 you can also go to the spaceport and just transfer the aurora via the pause menu and then you don’t have to run around neon to get back to the spaceport

For a variety of contraband items just dock with crimson fleet ships instead of destroying them, kill the crew members then look around the ships, you'll find contraband on tables and desks ect. If you have trouble finding crimson fleet ships just accept destroy missions from mission terminals 🖒
Exactly what I was about to say. Easiest way I’ve gotten contraband was hands down the spacer ships. There was always 2-3 items of contraband on the ships I captured.

As far as I can see it means they still treat you friendly when you visit any procedurally generated base on a planet where they are in control, but the moment you try to dock at the Key in Kryx, bang, cough up that ever-growing bounty!
You can use the UFC and initiation simulator to rank up your pilot level because every ship you blow up in the simulation counts towards a real shit. I was able to go all the way to rank 4 in 30 minutes or so
You can also buy aurora in the Euphorika lounge in bayu plaza if you pay to become a member of the lounge. You’ll first go there during a crimson fleet mission.
Don’t buy Neon unless you have credits to burn or if it’s for RP reasons, it doesn’t sell for anywhere near the buy price even with maxed out commerce. Buy the ingredients and make it yourself.
It doesn't sell for NEARLY enough credits to be worth it though sadly. There should be a special rule that it sells for double purchase price outside of Neon

Get the Razorleaf or upgrade the Frontier....Do the SysDef/Crimson Fleet sidequest....get two of the special items you add to your ship (com spike and com module), get the signal jammer (do before you finish the quest)....and bingo, you have an almost fullproof shielded cargo and scan jammer.
@@Ahglockcombine that with the deception skill, you probably wouldn’t even have to max the skill out to get to 100%. I’ve got one rank in it and my percentage is ~70% with shielded cargo and a jammer.
Just to update, using the best jammer with shielded cargo and one point in deception gives me a 90% chance to evade scans. Not sure if there’s a cap to it or not.

Always felt wrong hearing Vol 2 as well where Volii sounds much more like a planet to me. Vol 2 wouldn't make sense as volume 2 could apply to far to much to just simply be the name lol
It looks like Vol II as in Roman numeral II or 2. I didn't think it meant Vol 2... I just had no idea what it meant and didn't care enough to try to figure it out.
Best place to sell aurora is on Jameson in the Well at the trade authority. She has a around 11k to buy from you and there is a bench to wait and resell, the time you have to wait is just a full 24hour wait time because its equivalent to 50 hours on that planet. Good place to sell anything to be honest as long as you can get to planet past being scanned and all.
Once you learn the Aurora recipe. Kill the chasmbass for oil. Build a Science Hab on your ship. Go to the WOLF system. Dock. Make all the Aurora you can & sell it to the Trade Authority vendor there. Man buys illegal items for a good price.

is it worth all the trouble? i just do destroy ship mission and get contraband to sell. and the price you buy it in the video is so low just 646. and you get even less when you sell them..
sadly it only sells for 100~ a pop(WITH COMMERCE 4...or was it 3, its still woefully compared to the 5k+ CF mission), on other planets, and crafting it requires 1 item that is purchased or 'fished' for(a less fun secondary grind)
If you have the recipe, you can take the raw resources ( benzene, chassmbass oil, stimulant, hallucinogen) to any lab and make aurora on site , sell it, then you won't be caught.

Do the shielded cargo holds guarantee that the contraband will not be detected or only give a % chance that it will not be scanned? If the latter, what happens if it IS scanned? Do you lose the items? Any other negatives? Also, do you know if you can stack these? For example, would 2 X 50% chance give a 75% chance?
The shielded cargo gives a base of 50% not sure on that you'd have to check and you can either invest in the deception social skill which is faster or get ship design 2 and buy a scan jammer from the red mile or the key. Both options can lead to a 100% pass on the scan
If you get caught, you can agree to go to prison. Your contraband and stolen items are taken. And you have a fine. But once you get out of prison the items taken from you are in a chest nearby. So if you have some stealth and maybe lockpicking skills. You can just get the stuff back.
You do need a scan jammer for the shielded cargo to even work. Max 50% with starship design perk and another 50% from deception or whatever it's called the pirating perk on social tab. You may also just say F*this and head to The Den in the Wolf system and just sell your contraband there without any scans.
Unfortunately there's really no point to this. Aurora sold to a Trade Authority outside of Neon will make you the same amount as just bringing it to the TA in Neon itself. Given the cost of materials, and the time you have to invest, you're just wasting time and losing money doing this. There isn't even really a point to trying to bring contraband to systems where you'll be scanned, since there are two (or three depending on your choices) places you can sell it that are perfectly safe. Cool that the mechanics are there, but ultimately pointless.
Honestly im super disappointed with this. Ive put in so much effort just to attempt to smuggle it out. As well as learned to make it and all that. Only to find out aurora is actually a worthless drug nobody wants. It costs 700 credits to buy it in neon but sell it in new atlantis for example and youll only make around 100 per vial. Youd think itd be worth more where its illegal and forbidden. Did the developers not think anybody would want to do smuggling runs?

You have to have contraband in your ships cargo. If it’s your regular inventory you get caught every single time

In the back on the VIP rooms where the boss is there is a recipe to craft S.T.E.V.E. which also slows time and increases ranged dmg

when you leave the city just open your ship menu and put the auror in the ship inventory from there and you wont be caught thats how i did it

If you make ship a builder at an outpost, you can buy shielded cargo there.

In the red mile you can actually buy a jammer that combined with a shielded cargo gave me 79%chance to avoid detection

You don't have to smuggle the ingredients so just craft it when you get to the place you want to sell it.

You can't sell contraband at the kiosk unfortunately.
You can sell contraband to trade authority people not at the trade authority kiosks.
