Nah. The Irish Garda just heard his English accent and as he said he was making videos of police stations etc the cop (wisely) decided to play it cool to present the Garda in a positive light. If he was a local with a southern Irish accent or even Northern Irish they would have took a different approach. This cop was intelligent enough to not be seen on film as aggressive etc. But I’d bet that Garda station has just as much corruption in it as every other cop station.

Lets not get carried away lads - i live in Ireland and the Garda are not your friends. They are the same organized gangs you have in other countries. Recently here in ireland a load of Gardai were investigated for letting people off 100s of fines and points for driving offences for their friends in GAA clubs. They constantly have checkpoints everywhere to raise revenue. They wear uniforms that make the look like a sack of potatoes with shoes on. That was a good interaction but i wouldn't get carried away saying they are great, they are unprofessional idiots most of the time . As for Ireland as a whole its the most friendliest country i have ever lived in. when I moved over from UK It took me ages to get used to strangers always saying hello, good morning and being friendly everywhere you go

Schwantz Rossi ....... I had a completely different experience in Douglas (Cork) - I'd just landed at Cork airport (I was working there on a short term contract) and drove a hire car to Douglas - had fish and chips there and went for a pint, stone-cold sober, - across the road from the chippy. It was a Sunday night and the pub was crowded - ordered a pint of Guinness (I'm half Irish and like a Guinness!) -- the young barmaid, hearing my English accent said, "Nope - you've had enough - OUT!"
I was so embarrassed in front of so many people, I just left.
I told my landlady what had happened, on return to her house where I was staying, and she phoned the pub saying how disgusted she was at the way I had been treated.
*My advice is to steer clear of the pubs in Douglas - they seem to have a chip on their shoulder regarding the English!*
I didn't tell my dear Mum about this experience - it would have saddened her - she was born in Limerick in 1921. Sadly, no longer with me.

@@seantheplayer8047 Im In Limerick!! Ive never heard of that happening before - i get the odd Tan comment and sometimes i have lads say to me "i usually hate the english and avoid them but you are ok". So there is a definitely an anti-English thing in Ireland which is all to do with the black and tans and the way england treated Ireland during the famine etc. All the kids are taught that in school so it engrained in them. Dont let one silly woman in a pub put you off i love it over here.

@@schwantzrossi1266 Spot on! My Irish Grandfather disliked the English intensely and I don't blame him for that! He was born in Clarina in1885 and would have been witness to the black & tan's murderous and totally unacceptable behaviour! You'll struggle to find a stronger opponent of this bunch of rabble than myself!
I once felt more Irish than English because of this and my dear Mum and my Grandparents. Having read over the years how the Irish hate the English, not only because of that which happened a hundred years ago, which I totally get, but because of my country wisely deciding to leave the EU - the now numerous current comments made by the Irish were enough to have me do a complete 180. Thanks for coming over for these audits! The majority of Gardaí are usually pleasant to deal with, however when it comes to recording them while getting stopped or in public places there is a knowledge gap with photography laws, plus they have no obligation to wear body cameras or even have dash cameras so situations can get quite uncomfortable if they confiscate your phone or delete your footage and go onto abuse your rights (which I’ve had first hand experience of when I was younger).
I think these audits in Ireland will also serve as a catalyst to get the Gardaí cameras because they’d have no footage of an interaction if someone decides to make some sort of claim. Well done 👍🏼

Needles to say it goes both ways:). Very polite Garda and your approach is always excellent. I wouldn't get carried away just yet, there are some nasty ones here also. Not as bad as it used to be but in all sections of society you get the good and the bad. You must find it refreshing that we are not so obsessed with terrorism. Frankly, I can’t see what this officer did that was so special that any layperson couldn’t do. He only appears to be a good officer because he is actually doing nothing! Some people prefer them that way - real sleeping policeman. No action; better than bad action. Maybe he will get a transfer to Stoke Newington! If K had meant business -he would have been all over the ropes.Looking at the video, the officer has his hands in his pockets and is just chatting idly to someone else not doing anything, and is not behind the desk. He is hardly burdened with daily duty tasks to complete such as excessive amounts of administration work that police forces so often complain about. Is the station the equivalent of ‘Ask A Policeman’ where nothing happens?
The state of that wall is shocking as it is overly plastered with old and torn posters as are the windows at the desk (now there is something to remedy if you are just kicking your heels). You can even see the sellotape. Do they not sell noticeboards in Crumlin? This is a customer-facing desk and presentation is therefore paramount as first impressions count to the public. They should have also first spotted that mess on the outside wall that K referenced.
The officer appears unsure of himself and reacts somewhat defensively throughout, yet also appears hostile. He cites the reason for not allowing Kolee to film is due to contractor work taking place during the visit (of which there is no evidence other than a contractor vehicle parked outside) however, this doesn’t prevent the officer entering that area alone without PPE. Potentially, this officer is seeking advice from a colleague behind the scenes as he seems unable to make the decision himself whether to allow filming or not.

Welcome to Ireland and the garda have changed over the years as they use to be way worse and I mean bad so it's nice to see other people's views as mine was all bad when I was a young fella , so thanks for another Irish nutcase and respect the he'll out of you for coming over bro and showing the good Irish instead of the old hate the Irish got over all the troubles with the IRA and all the BS

Fun Fact - St Patricks Day in the England is one of the biggest nights out on the lash in England. St Georges day however goes by and you wouldn't even know it. The English love the Irish. Not so sure the reverse is true - understandably so. I haven't been called a "Tan" in a while though.

Uk police use to be nasty b's aswell. Racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and anti irish( Birmingham six, beat to a pulp.) Corrupt too in the sense of denying people their right to a solicitor, beating confessions out of youngsters and giving false witness. So we brits under your past view of the garda.

Well I can’t argue with that he was polite did not try and get loads of details while pretending to just be having a conversation and did not lie about laws to scare you away. So if every station/pc was polite indefinitely then the respect would come back with time. Unfortunately even when some police try there is alway the stupid goons who abuse the power and loose my respect. IOPC just needs to punish the pc’s directly a pay loss would soon sort it out

Come on Kolee, head over the border to Northern Ireland. You will be detained in a matter of minutes at every single station if you try and keep quiet, are not fully compliant with their questioning. They have special powers there, they will try and search you for bullets and such, its mental. Go on son, get up there!

Just an observation from someone who has experience of the Guardians of the Peace, you have been lucky with this one you met a decent human being a rarity in the Guards, I think I said before that they don't like accountability what other state entity anywhere in the UK would stand over the head of the organisation losing 12 mobile phones, would not happen in any other so called Democracy.
