Bro, you are the man. I too have been scouring the internet for exactly this. All I could find was custom steering wheel installs and no stock ones. Heck, even my Haynes manual has nada on this topic. Truly appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou for this video. I have also been looking for a video. The blown apart drawing shows the plastic piece facing the other way in most parts catalogs.
You're very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to let me know this helped. I tried doing it every way you could imagine except the right way lol. Have fun with your project.
I need help. I finally found your video. I've been messing with this all day. Installed same steering wheel. When I screw the screws in the button no longer presses. Only presses when screws are only halfway in. I installed exactly like you did. Help me understand! 😢
Good video. I have a '68 and the aluminum Horn Button ''cup'' is deeper than the '69 --'72. [Unless I got it backwards?!] Anyway the assembly is the same. I put an X in Sharpie ink on the back [concave] side of the Spring Disc so I'd know what side went down. Mine still honks the Horn constantly, even if assembled right. [So I've had to unplug the Horn Relay = no horn.] I'm thinking I need to replace the Upper Steering Column Bearing. A BB is missing from the race, maybe two. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to R&R the Lower Bearings too. More of a PIA. Just waiting to get the re-fabbed Steering Wheel repainted in Fawn.
@@HootOwl513 thanks for the feedback. Mine had been shorting out again since this video and the problem is the screw that holds the turn signal lever in place.
@@teamkeller Yeah. My Turn Signal Lever screw came loose and the lever came off. It's on my dash. I'm using a bright orange-and-white-with-scotchbrite reflective-tape Glove on my left hand and making Arm turn signals until I get the Wheel painted. With a manual 4-Speed [SM465] and manual steering, life is interesting.

Yeah I keep having the same problem. For mine it's that white ring that carries the current for the horn grounding out on the turn signal lever screw. I tried a different screw and also a plastic screw cap which worked for awhile. I'm not sure what I'm missing there.
SO the other white round plastic piece in my kit with the spring and metal post looking thing are for the round steering wheels??? Our steering wheel looks like yours and I could not figure out how those pieces fit in the mix...???
Those go down inside under the steering wheel. The post and spring is what carries the 12v up to contact the disc that I put in the switch here. Hope that makes sense
I'm not sure I follow your question. Are you working with new or old parts? Once the center cap is snapped into place everything should be good. The bottom disc should have enough tension to keep pressure against the top cup to keep things in place. Over time they lose their tension and need to be replaced.

Awesome I'm so glad it helped. This is the exact reason I made the video. Thank you for your feedback.

You are very welcome. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you very much! My son & I have also been working on a extended 72' Blazer project and needed help here with being apart too long.

Just what I needed. Parts missing

I'm sorry I just now saw this. Have you figured it out.

@@HootOwl513 😂😂 that's great! Mine is 4 speed and manual steering also. No power brakes either. She's a handful.

It helped 😂
Havent pulled my steering wheel off yet but my horn wants to honk when i turn the wheel or touch the wheel just right.

Man, I feel stupid. Same situation as you, looked for videos and just had the disk in upside down.
Yeah lol.
That's why I wanted to share this. It was so simple but yet it took me so long to get there lol

So what hold the 2 metal pieces from rattling around? After I installed everything thing the metal pieces were not secured and really loose.
