Hi Casper, I’m changing my name and I wonder if you could help me, under what section of the British nationality act as it asks on the deed poll did you change it by, many thanks Bryan
Hi Casper, :) Quick question I'm due to change my name on passport (including gender marker) after obtaining my deed poll. When reapplying for the passport on the application after filling out the basic details and new and old name details it shows 'Gender' section. Should I put my birth Gender on there or my new acquired gender (I don't have a GRC Yet)?
When I applied, you didn't need a GRC. The government website says you need to provide one of these as evidence when applying: a GRC, letter from a GIC/doctor confirming your gender change or a birth/adoption certificate with your new name/gender on it. But don't hold me to to that....
Hey Casper, if I’m only 15 years old, can I date the document for my 16th birthday so it doesn’t come into effect until I’m 16, but still sign it whilst I’m 15? Just because I leave school before I turn 16 and I was hoping that my teacher could be a witness and I want it changed before I start sixth form. Only way he could be the witness is if it is signed when I’m 15 (and he’s the person I trust most to be a witness). Thanks!
In theory you could get a witness to sign it when you’re 15 and wait until you’re 16 to sign it yourself and send it off. However you’d have to use a false date when your witness signs it which is technically not legal, also not legal for a witness to sign the deed poll for someone under 16.
