So if the otters grab a frog card that goes in there hand to be sold ? If so makes some good interaction with them. “Come grab this nice looking frog card”
Happy to see you getting products from publishers you deserve it! Your content is great. I'm not a fan of root at all I feel like it's too dependent on the table taking turns bashing the leader, but I'm happy to watch anything you produce.
@@smoogums89 I appreciate the support! It’s funny you say that about root. In my last 4 player game I teamed up with another faction to take down an obvious leader who had an imminent win condition then the faction I teamed up with won because I was not paying attention to them. The game state is dynamic you have to be careful who you align with :)
My game group doesn’t love asymmetric games so haven’t played Root in a while. BUT, here anyway because I love your videos. Cool to see LEDER does too!
@@Neon_Gorilla I just find it hilarious how all the root creators got to playtest bats and frogs and had videos ready to drop today to promote the Kickstarter only to be just as blindsided by the Skunks as the rest of us
@@HobGungan yeah they wanted to have secrets. It was accidentally leaked in a drop box to me but was told they aren’t ready to be broadly covered. I think that was more the reason as to why they weren’t covered by anyone.
My read of the frogs “Protective” isn’t that you must have a Frog card to remove a token, but that you must discard a Frog card IF you have one, similar to Outrage from the Woodland Alliance-No?
It uses the word must in the rules I used and does not outline the same procedure as outrage where it states the enemy must show their hand to the WA player. So as of right now it has to be a frog card. I think this ensures players interact with the reconcile mechanic…all this can change of course. Thanks for watching!
@@Neon_Gorilla Thanks for clarifying! It reads "when a token is removed, discard a frog card" not "in order to remove a token, discard a frog card" - but that could be just an early prototype wording that will get ironed out in development.
@@CalebvanderLeek I think the major distinction is it doesn’t give the process like it does with the woodland to choose a different card. That is nowhere to be found so I am just assuming that it is a requirement to actually have the frog card. I think if you can choose any card, it would negate the powerful effect of even having this frog suit so I assume there won’t be any changes to align them with the Woodland alliance and outrage .
2 players is not optimal but I did make a video you might be interested in on the 2 player ROOT game. The hirelings help 2 players a bunch. There is not a ton in common with a TCG other than I enjoy both but can’t say you will love ROOT because you love TCG
Optimal is pretty definitively 4. If you have a TCG background you will be pretty comfortable with the learning curve in this game. To have a decent understanding of a board state, you need to know what every faction that each player is playing does… and they are all completely different. Beyond that, I think TCGs and Root are quite disparate. Enjoying them is definitely not mutually exclusive, but they have very little in common😊
Congrats on being included in the First Impressions on the Kickstarter campaign page!
@@tteshera thank you, I’m pretty excited about that :)
@@Neon_Gorilla Seconding that notion! It's gratifying to see that people who work harder than me are commensurately outperforming me.
This is awesome mate. Hard work paying off!
thanks Robin!

Yeah and the question will be if they want to flip the token to peaceful to give the frogs the scoring opportunity
Amazing content as usual men! Thanks for bring this up. Pretty excited about the "daispora" and the Knaves! Let's see how the bats grows on me haha.
Thank you and those are my sentiments as well.
Root, Oath and Arcs are my favorite games.
I can agree with two
I'm immediately hopping on this - I'm at the point where essentially anything Leder Games puts out I'm all in - they simply don't miss.
In the same boat
That was very helpful and gave me a good grasp for the factions, especially so as it comes from someone really familiar with the game and a fan of it.
Thanks you, glad I could be of service!

Very cool, and also awesome you are getting on publishers lists for these kinds of videos!
@@Frodo- yeah this was pretty cool

Thanks Sean, I wonder how many of the typical viewer were ROOT fans. Cool to see you here anyway.

NOBODY expects the Knaves of the Deepwood!
I wish I could have played them but aren’t quite to the point of development to give them to us.

I want a Neon Gorilla faction. Not sure the power, but neon powered primates would interesting.

@@Neon_Gorilla Good point! I would prefer it's your interpretation honestly, just hadn't considered it from that angle when reading it myself.
These new factions look super fun!
they are :) Frogs are my favorite in current state. I just need more time with the twilight in bigger games with aggressive factions
I think the lilypad Diaspora faction just sounds like a frawegsome! faction to play with. Against, I might think twice.
yeah they will be a menace to play against
I'm from TCG background. Will i love root as a boardgame? Will this game great for 2 players? what's the optimal number of players?
