I really enjoyed watching this and the previous one where you did an in-depth review of it. I bought mine (RM9Pro) not the plus edition and it seems to have all the features that are missing on yours, so I'm wondering if your version is a global version or perhaps its an import only made for China? Other than that, the phone so far has been really good, having the 6500mha battery makes the phone last for a very long time. Say what you will for Samsung and its optimization to get the most out of a 5,000 mha battery, 6,500mha is 1,500mha more and it really shows. For my regular usages, it shows 56 hours... not battery saving. Samsung S23U can only achieve this using battery saving mode. Unsure what the new S24U is like with battery, I hear its better, but I can almost bet it won't last me 56 hours of normal use with no battery saver on. The only concern i really have is the amount of ingress point for dust, especially the fan intake/exhaust. I wish Redmagic has a mechanism like a removable dust filter to help with keeping dust out, perhaps its something they can look into in the future. My idea would be to have a magnetic mesh and an indent for the mesh to sit in, kind of like the newer PC cases which allows the user to simply remove the filter to clean off dust. Or perhaps make it modular in the sense that the entire cooling chamber can be dismounted and "pushed out" /Ejected so that cleaning can be done to the fans. But for now, there are some options if you look up amazon and search for "dust filter mobile phone" as a phrase, and you'll see entries with stickers that will do pretty much the same thing and yet allow airflow. I highly recommend getting them as you will get lint/dust in your pockets which will inevitably make its way into the cooling chamber of the phone. Other than that, I'm really happy to give Redmagic my money this time around instead of Samsung, sure the UDC quality isn't there, but OMFG the uninterrupted display... Nothing beats it!! Punch holes have been around since 2006? its time we move on and support those who will continuously innovate. Fear is an illusion, and unfortunately, you see Samsung actively chooses to keep away from this for tech for their Ultra series, the quality like many others have said, is just not up to par sadly, and they fear that this will tarnish the Ultra brand. But for someone like me who use the phone primary as a business tool (Not gaming), it really isn't a problem.. sure my meetings might show a bit of blurriness, but its still better than a standard PC webcam. I'd much rather have a nice clean uninterrupted display so I can watch videos and photos in "true" full-screen and feel that I'm holding a piece of tech that is from 2020+. But that's me personally. Keep up the good work and keep updating us about your RM9ProPlus! For Redmagic, please keep innovating and keep doing what the bigger brands don't want to do!

Hello Tom!, thanks for the video!, does your RedMagic 9 Pro, by any chance, have an audio issue where the audio is "compressed"?, let's say, the quiet part of a song gets boosted, while a loud part gets quiet. I already disabled the "DTS Sound" but the issue remains the same. I'm using a wired headset by the way, haven't had a chance to test with a Bluetooth one.
that's probably due to some setting that tried to keep song loudness balanced, im getting my phone soon if you haven't solved this issue u can comment here and ill see if i find out a fix, you should also check out xda developers to see if some1 else had this issue before.

I just bought this phone yesterday on Facebook marketplace for $300USD. This phone is a beast! My main phone is the 15 pro max but have always wanted to try a gaming phone for fun. Glad I bought it and got it for an amazing price. I did hate the theme at first but was easily able to change the theme to look more like stock android and I love it! I will not be making it my main phone but it’s a great phone for watching movies and playing games. I was also shocked at how much faster it was than my 15 pro max. Kinda pissed me off how much better it was to my 15 pro max when it came to app opening speed and gaming. It’s so good that it pisses me off😂😂. Like why is the phone that I paid $300 to perform better than the 15 pro max I bought a couple of months for $1400💀. Overall super great phone. Kinda glad I didn’t buy the s24 Ultra tbh.

I bought the RM8 pro at launch and I wasn't getting all incoming calls or text so I had to switch back to my 7T pro and looks like that's still a problem with these, thank God I waited before buying, a phone should kinda be great at those two things you know, it is a phone first after all.

No it's perfectly fine it's actually the newest version of wifi available. They probably just have super old routers. Any connection issues are based on the Internet provider I've never had any issues with wifi.

Hey I am typing this from RM 9 pro and I downloaded Dragon Ball Legends and for some reason this game crashes on my Red Magic 9 Pro but it was running perfectly fine on my old Galaxy J 7 Pro. Any idea why? Note: the game runs buttery smooth way better than my old phone but this it suddenly crashed and find myself out of the game
It's crashing for you? It was crashing on my 9 pro plus but it was fixed in an app update for me. There are compatibility issues with the snapdragon 8 gen 3 for some apps bc the devs need to update their apps to the new chip architecture. I think that's why at least.
@@TechReviewTom I tried restarting my Red Magic 9 Pro, clearing the game cache and even deleting and reinstalling the game but nothing worked, the game is 6 gb in size so now I have to redownload all that, good that it only requires 300 mb to run then downloads the rest as you open other sections in the game, I even installed the latest Software update so I guess it is like you said, the developers of the game need to update the game to support SD 8 gen 3 because I heard Raid Shadow Legends is experiencing the same issues even on other devices with 8 gen 3 like Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The game size is 97mb on play store and in game they ask for a minimum of 300 to 350mb (something like that) and you don't have to download all the data then try Playing for some time and see if you have the same issues as me, maybe it is optimization issue on my device. If you do not wanna it is ok but for me I tried other games like a game called Ronin The Last Samurai and it runs perfectly smooth with no issues so I have doubts.

Its a good phone, but the OnePlus 12 is better and on the same price level. I like this phone though, it just didn't beat OnePlus this round. I'm keeping both though. Both phones together are the same price as the S24 Ultra.
I feel like it will beat OnePlus in terms of heat management overtime because of the fan, it also has an extra processor in the phone for ai. It also has a 100 mah larger battery and the game center features with things like Diablo mode smash it tbh.
On paper, yes. Having both phones in hand, the feel and usage is just far better. The screen on the 12 is SUPERIOR although I prefer a flat screen. The entire experience is less buggy and apps just work as they should. For me, the RM9 feels like a beta experience software wise. There is no contest on the camera too. The RM9 is marginally better at games when the game actually works. I didn't expect to like the One plus this year, but it is a much better release than their last 2 phones. Try one if you can, it's worth the comparison.@@TechReviewTom
I thought the same thing as I had my RM9 far before the 12. Having had the 12 for nearly a week now, it is superior in almost every way. There may be a 1-2 % difference in graphic performance, but Android games are simple and feel the same on both phones. The software is not as buggy on the 12, pictures look better, The screen looks better, the speakers have more range etc. It is a more polished experience. I disliked the One Plus 11, but the 12 is great.@@TechReviewTom

I have the 16/512 version of each phone. The RM9 is still the more affordable or budget friendly. With student discount the 12/256 is $620 shipped and they don't charge sales tax. Nothing with a gen3 can compare in everyday price. I also like the look of the Rm9 better too. The 12 is kinda ugly.@@TechReviewTom

I haven't looked too far into the sound settings. It must be an automatic thing unfortunately. That sounds a bit annoying.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has some issues with many apps running 32-bit, because it has stopped supporting 32-bit apps.
Yeah that's android 13+ though. RuneScape actually was fixed though which is great. Just send bugs to discord servers they fix it ASAP it's amazing.

The entire experience is less buggy and apps just work as they should. For me, the RM9 feels like a beta experience software wise. There is no contest on the camera too. The RM9 is marginally better at games when the game actually works. I didn't expect to like the One plus this year, but it is a much better release than their last 2 phones. I thought the same thing as I had my RM9 far before the 12. Having had the 12 for nearly a week now, it is superior in almost every way. There may be a 1-2 % difference in graphic performance, but Android games are simple and feel the same on both phones. The software is not as buggy on the 12, pictures look better, The screen looks better, the speakers have more range etc. It is a more polished experience. I disliked the One Plus 11, but the 12 is great.@@TechReviewTom
@pohalsted8847 oh fair enough man, do you have the 24 versions for both phones? Also I think part of the reason is zte and Nubia we're always budget phone companies and recently with how popular their phones are it's been probably difficult to keep up with demand.
I have the 16/512 version of each phone. The RM9 is still the more affordable or budget friendly. With student discount the 12/256 is $620 shipped and they don't charge sales tax. Nothing with a gen3 can compare in everyday price. I also like the look of the Rm9 better too. The 12 is kinda ugly.@@TechReviewTom

Mine came with 24 by default and mine goes up to 32. The 16 can go to 24.

No 12 can't go to 24
You get 8 extended so you could go to 20. I'd get the 16 gig version of the phone.
