Cara sposa, amante cara, dove sei?
Deh! Ritorna a pianti miei.
Sublime...
Sublime, como siempre.
Simply ... wonderful!
His improvisation is perfect!
Trying to do a little ear training.... then Mr. Jarousky's face appears. I cannot complain too much and appreciate this being put out here. Thank you very so much.
Dommage que ce soit du 440. C'est tellement beau en 415. Et Jaroussky est brillant, comme toujours.
Bellezza
Muchísimo mejor que scholl ! Tiene más alma
❤
The sheet music is the incorrect key to the recording
It looks a semitone higher than the performance but the pitch may be authentic. after all Handel would not necessarily have expected A=440
David Solomons Thats right. I did not account for the tuning of the Era. You have a point there!
That is indeed the case. In the early 18th century music was generally lower pitched (with some notable exceptions). We know this because we have woodwinds from that era and we know that they barely change intonation at all.
A common modern standard for playing this repertoire is A=415hz which is about a semitone lower than modern A=440hz
