Jan Lisiecki: How to choose an encore | Musica Maestra

Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra interviews Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki and wants to know how he chooses the encore for a concert. Does he decide in the moment or does he have a plan?

Alondra de le Parra is a Mexican conductor. She was born in New York and raised in Mexico. She started her piano studies at age seven. Alondra de la Parra got her musical education in Mexico City and New York. In 2015, she became the music director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Australia. She was the first female principal conductor of an Australian symphony orchestra.
Lisiecki was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and began piano lessons at the age of five, making his orchestral debut at the age of nine.
