Atom Egoyan discusses his films, including Devil's Knot starring Colin Firth & Reece Witherspoon.
Atom Egoyan is a Canadian artist who began as part of the so-called Toronto New Wave of the eighties before reaching international prominence in the 90s, when his films Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter played in competition at Cannes, collecting prizes that included the Grand Prize of the Jury.
Known for complex narratives that often concern a network of characters engaging with the mediation of identity, truth and history, Egoyan's work over the last decade plus applies these concerns to a variety of film subjects, as well as installations, plays and operas. His latest features include Remember and The Captive.
Atom joined us at Geraldine to discuss his latest film at the time, Devil's Knot, and its relationship to some of his other historically rooted films: Ararat, Citadel, Where the Truth Lies and Gross Misconduct.
