Need to ask: Was Chris Bell the main vocalist for most of these songs off #1 Record? He seems to have the “higher” voice? Wish I could tell whose voice is on which song, aside from the ones where both he & Alex sing harmonies together?
@@jaymack4515 It's kinda hard to tell. He's got the more rock n roll strained voice here and on In The Street. Chilton sings Ballad of El Goodo, Thirteen. His songs tend to be less rockers.
This is a song - actually, this whole album - that is just waiting to be rediscovered through a placement in a scene with this song in the background in a hit movie/TV show.
Once I walked a lonely road I had no one to share my love But then you came and showed the way And now I hope you're here to stay You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right So right So right, so right Lonely days of uncertainty They disappear when you're near me When you're around my life's worthwhile And now I long to see you smile You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right So right So right, so right My life is right My life is right My life is right Once I walked a lonely road I had no one to share my love But then you came and showed the way And now I hope you're here to stay You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right You give me light You are my day You give me life And that's right So right So right, so right My life is right
The Name "Big Star" was a Goof On Themselves...A Great Read Is:" A Man Called Destruction" The Life and Times of Alex Chilton. Pop Music's Real Iconoclast !!!
I think that's actually appropriate, because Chris Bell wrote at least two other songs about God, one on this same album ('Try Again') and one off of his solo album called I Am the Cosmos ('Look Up.')
When I play and sing this song on the dock of Foy’s Lake in Montana people ask what song is that?!? So much fun!! 😀😀🎸🎸🎵🎵
It’s so brilliant and uplifting I can’t believe this went practically unnoticed at the time
Chris Bell was a stunning writer!
Unquestionably
He has a very sad story too. HE died way too soon
He was the member of the band that was the rocker

Once I walked a lonely road
I had no one to share my love
But then you came and showed the way
And now I hope you're here to stay
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
So right
So right, so right
Lonely days of uncertainty
They disappear when you're near me
When you're around my life's worthwhile
And now I long to see you smile
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
So right
So right, so right
My life is right
My life is right
My life is right
Once I walked a lonely road
I had no one to share my love
But then you came and showed the way
And now I hope you're here to stay
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
You give me light
You are my day
You give me life
And that's right
So right
So right, so right
My life is right
It's probably "I had no one to share my load."
