This video is only my very humble two cents about some of the designs from Michael by MK. I understand not everyone will share the same cup of tea. Like I said in the video, MK has a loyal customer base and I totally respect that . Apologies to anyone who finds this upsetting xx
@ColourfulNoir no offense taken, it's just also the other side of the topic. We can agree and disagree on certain topics and still have the common love for fashion and luxury.
I agree with you on all points across the board-and I think it’s more of your five cents worth of opinion. I don’t buy from the brand, nor any brands with prominent logos-if I’m not getting paid to advertise for them I don’t want their logos all over my bags.
I said this in another comment: my takeaway is that proper branding and careful display promote perception of value in our minds. I really appreciate your thoughts on this subject. ❤
Nothing we can do about fakes…I could care less how many people have the same bag as myself…that makes it really spoken for.. I hate when people say they don’t want a certain purse because everyone has it….well everyone has a hole are we gonna get rid of ours because of that? Everyone one does something different with their *jklux* for example their style, your style will set you apart.
My first "designer" handbag was an MK bag. My dad bought it for me for my first job. When I was leaving an abusive relationship I could only pack a few things and this bag is what I packed. I love this bag more than anything because it represents strength to me. For some people this is what they can afford. Not everyone can afford an Hermes, Chanel, or an LV bag. Some of those bags are tacky too. The birkin isn't necessarily a beautiful bag just exclusive. I get that you won't buy one and that is fine but there are customers who will buy their bags.
Well, expressed. Most people will not admit it but they buy luxury for the name only not the design and "quality." If the name Hermes, Chanel, Dior was not on the bag, they wouldn't buy it.
@@audreyhuggins8822that is so true. I feel fortunate that i really don’t like the looks of a Birkin or a Kelly bag, so i never had the urge to buy one. They seem old lady-ish to me. And many of the other high end designer bags are just not very good looking.
I agree with you on many MK designs now, sadly. It used to be a cheaper Ralph Lauren and now it's gotten tacky.. If you're still open to other mid range contemporary brands, I'd recommend Dooney and Bourke Florentine leather for high quality leather, or for durability their All Weather collection is great and holds up to every obstacle very well. Tanner Leatherstein did an excellent video testing the "all weather" claims, and it stood up to the test! I know many designer bags can't say the same.
I absolutely love my Dooneys, the problem is they don’t have a UK sales presence which is a huge shame. Mine have been purchased either in NYC trips or preloved from Vinted and eBay. You can buy them online directly from D & B, but my personal experience of this has not been good, particularly their returns process with Pitney Bowes, the vendor they use for overseas. My Florentine satchel is beautiful and such high quality leather.
Lovely collection! l bought my first LV when l was 25 and l only used that bag a few times.haha. Also, love your clutch! l have an Eva clutch in the DE print and love the little chain. But I don't want to spend so much money on it now, I have been *jklux* buying thebag l want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
My husband just bought myself and my daughter an MK purse each recently as well as sunglasses and a wallet to match my purse. I stick with classic styles and colors. But I do that with any bag. I have my very first coach bag still. My mom bought it for me when i started high school. It's a beautiful chocolate brown with the logo gently displayed on it. I only have a few outrageous colors like purple or green because they are gifted from family and are sentimental. As much as I want a high-end luxury bag, that's not in my price range right now, but i can still get the look with a nice bag from MK and other designers.
Agree with your comments - over expansion and over saturation. I would say though that as a designer, Michael was the first women's ready-to-wear designer for Celine, and worked there from 97 to 03.
It was a great harvest, the replicas are great, and it’s always worth it to find designer pieces! I love all the bags, they are all timeless pieces, awesome *hotdups*
Michael Kors has some really nice bags and accessories that are not tacky or covered in logos. Their satchels and tote bags are really nice and honestly look great and are very function. I would choose them over LV in a heartbeat!
I have a beautiful leather MK bag with the tiniest of logs and the nicest leather. Definitely top tier. When I was looking for a new bag could not find anything of better quality.
Yes the color of the *hotdups* is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I don't really care about exclusivity. Others opinions is the last thing I'm interested in. I've had Prada, Burberry, LV bags and hated them all 😂 My Coach, Kate Spade, and MK bags have been my favorite and most practical.
MK is not any worse than plastic Prada or monogram LV canvas. The only difference is that MK does not change an arm and a leg. It makes no sense to throw shade on MK. If you like it buy it and enjoy it. Who cares about “exclusivity”?
My takeaway from the video was how proper branding and display promotes perception of value. Not necessarily putting the MK brand down despite the title.
The absolute best comment 🙌🏻🙌🏻 My philosophy too. Thank you for pointing out. I own and much enjoy several pieces from LV, Celine, Mulberry and MK and I love them all, each and everyone. They cater for my needs, taste and price points. What I hate is snobism. MK designed many of the well known handbags before he established his own brand, while he was working for Celine, LV and others. He was smart then to secure copyrights for his designs, so one comes to wonder who’s copying whom. I also agree with his vision, as all have the right to glamour on this planet, hence he, himself said that he wanted to provide joy at an affordable price and that his products,he doesn’t want to be out of reach. Snobism is tacky. Staying in line for an “exclusive” brand and being humiliated AND paying for it, is tacky. Indeed, each to their own. I love your comment, thank you. 🧿🪬🍀✨
MK was crazy good. Back when it produced simplicity and quality, i saved up for a “Mercer All in One” bag. Black, pebbled leather. It’s a top handle that converts into a sling, backpack, and had a detachable clutch for evening wear. It was GENIUS design, and i can wear it everywhere: work, date, weddings, travel. I got 10x my money’s worth. I saved up for their leather flats too, and that serves me until today. These two are 7 years old today. I wish they would go back to that level of craftsmanship. “Kors” could’ve been a cleaner branding.
For me, I can easily afford the authentic ones but I choose not to. I am not blown away by the quality at all. I am totally fine with the *hotdups* . I would rather use my money wisely than waste it on luxury items.
Michael Kors bags are certainly more affordable and I’ve had a few in the past. My problem with them was the quality. I had one where the exterior started peeling. I buy from Coach when I want a brighter colour or something cute that I don’t want to pay luxury prices for. I also think Dooney & Bourke is a great alternative. There are other mid priced brands that are well made and fairly affordable. I do love luxury brands but as I buy so few I don’t mind the cost.
I’m not sure I would say MK is tacky but the Michael Michael Kors is equivalent to See by Chloe, Versace Jeans, ….. logo heavy is a matter of personal taste from elite designers to mainstream brands. I think MK Collection has some beautiful handbags and MMK has some great options at a lower price point. I agree , most bag designs are very similar with some being more suited to personal tastes than others.
I haven’t purchased any handbags by Michael Kors since late 2014. I still have a beautiful large navy saffiano tote and a leopard looking gorgeous bag. I take their heavy logo off when wearing. Their designs changed in 2015. My favorite midrange price brand is Coach. Depending on the handbag you choose, some are as well made as the designer brands. Great video!
Lastly on my birthday, when I wanted to treat myself with a good quality mid-entry designer bag, I originally looked at MK store in my country. Honestly i was a little bit suprised when i saw the latest collection, very tacky and far from the elegance of the older designs (I'd been eyeing MK bags since 10 years ago and I think that time their designs were very classy). Finally I chose a tory burch handbag and i love it very much ❤
I bought a non logo plain tan leather MK satchel bag in 2017 and it’s one of my favorites because it is sturdy. But, I think a lot of companies have hit and miss products.
Mk has 2 bag lines: MK bags the one you say have over saturated the market, I agree. Then there is Michael Kors Collection where these are the high end line of products that also feature handbags. I seldomly see the MK monogram in fact I don’t think I seen a bag with the monogram. These bags are all over a $1000 USD. There is one bag in this line that I love but can’t pull the trigger as I am just not there because it is in the. 2k-3k price range depending on the size. It is the Michael Kors Campbell Weekender bag. This bag is no where on TH-cam but looks absolutely gorgeous. I am not sure if the quality matches the price tag but what bag does. For the luxury fashion brands you know you are essentially paying for the name.
I love your videos. Your style and disposition are beautiful. I agree that the MK bags don’t align with your aesthetic and likely that of most of your viewers. I question the usefulness of the information in this video to such an audience. I’m surprised by the lack of tact in the idea for this video. But you have earned trust based on a beautiful channel with inspiring ideas regarding style and mindful consumption, and I will keep watching! ❤
Hi Eileen, I actually owned the MK Selma Satchel in black 🥰 It was my first MK bag back in 2015. I sold that bag last year because I reached for it less once my Coach and LV collection started growing. I agree that the brand is over saturated and expanded very quickly. Thank you for sharing.
I don’t like the word tacky, I don’t use it, but I think it’s just personal taste at the end. I’m not into MK and honestly I have the same exact feeling about Coach while so many love it very much. There are brands like that , that are not just our cup of tea. To me it was a 15-20 yrs ago thing and I moved on a long time ago.
Once I went to MK outlet store and ended up buying a large tote and a rucksack. I think, they might even be made for outlet bags. I‘ve been wearing them whenever I travel to the destinations where the bag most likely will get dirty or scratched. And I must admit that the quality is really good, they are actually well made, especially for the outlet prices I paid. The only downside is that I actually would prefer them not to have the Michael Kors written on it but rather be no name bags. I think the brand image isn’t what I want to identify with.
I truly love Michael Kors and it's quality is one of the best! I can compare with LV, Prada, Saint Laurent, Gucci, MCM and Coach as I have many bags from them as well. The quality of Michael Kors is way better then Coach and Gucci. And about design, they have great understated leather bags, I have several and they are great by functionality and quality. And really...LV, Gucci, Celine use their monogram the same way as MK. I am really sorry that this brand has lost its reputation for some reason. Still love it!
Disagree coach has the better quality by far. Many have actually cut them all apart and coach has better quality. Especially having one of the best hardware quality in the in industry.
I think people are missing the message in this video, nonetheless I think this was a great video. I’ve had bags from Michael Kors all the way to Celine and would definitely agree with everything you mentioned in this video. I’m not sure why people are upset no you’ve mentioned an alternative that is similar in price to Michael Kors.
I have many handbags, but my favorite are Ralph Lauren Collection. They are not mid range buy any measure. But they are very well made and less recognized than Channel or Hermes, which I like.
As an MK lover before, I know there's more durable bags like D&B which I also own, it's just a matter of preference. I love their design and they hold better over my Coach bags. It can be tacky for a minimalist eye but I saw people looking good in their MKs and some doing the minimalist look a little deflating. To each to their own. I have a few MK left for gifting to my sisters, they are the last to leave my mid range collection because I really love them..
Wild. I only shop at the Michael Kors store in Dallas when I am there, at Northpark. It is gorgeous and on the same floor/in the same hallway as Gucci, Louis, and all the rest, so it feels quite luxurious - and at the same low price! So, you have a point! Great video.
Hi I love your channel. Im a bag lover I love many brands. To talk on MK brand I love his styles and their affordable in comparison to more basic styles you find at higher end ones. I do have the selma bag and have had it for like 7-9 years and it still looks new that's what drew me into his brand is the quality. As far as display if you were in another store and not his store its how the store displayed his products because in his actual store ia set up organization. I do agree that he uses his logo a little too much though. I do only buy saffiano or coated canvas bags because smooth and pebbled deteriorates faster regardless of who made it. I take really good care of my bags but Louis vitton is not a quality brand to me with boring styles, limited color ways and for the price, it just doesnt scream unique like others do.
Hi everyone, I hope noones going to laugh at me for this but what do you think about Guess bags? My budget is pretty small since I have not yet graduated college but I got a Guess bag from my parents and am really surprised about the quality and overall look. I know it's even cheaper than MK but would love to hear your opinion on them. I know they also got pretty tacky designs with some bags but overall, I'm super happy with my bag and would love to purchase another one in the future. The reselling points are also surprisingly good.
I think Guess has some beautiful bags. Wear what you love and that fits your budget. Don’t get caught up on logos. What is tacky is going into debt to obtain an overpriced bag. Enjoy college and best wishes to you!
I applaud you for being secure enough to not overspend your budget to project status! 👏🤗❤ I say this as a person with a closet full of “luxury” items… Wear what you love! No one else’s opinions or judgements matter. Just check the bags to make sure the seams are strong and that the hardware/leather/fabric don’t scratch easily in the store. Check that the threads aren’t loose and nothing is fraying. If you don’t see any defects, go for it! Keep the receipt and look out for any issues during the return period.
I have some of the more plain MK bags, not the really tacky logo-mania ones you are spot on about. I think the quality is okay, it is sturdy enough, but u wouldn’t call it luxurious. I don’t think I would buy again.
I've never been an MK fan and I don't own anything by them. Coach is the main mid-range brand I tend to buy. To me, the monogram all over on some of these brands is basically them copying higher end luxury brands like LV and Gucci who were doing it from the start.
@@ColourfulNoir no they can only be bought in China. Thought it would be interesting for you to read up on and share with your viewers as not many TH-camrs have clocked it yet
MK's problem isn't really quality or style but rather over saturation of the market. One bag style can be found in twenty different color variations and sizes.
I think most people around where I live think MK is tacky too. For people who are not in mood for ultra high end brands, brands like Longchamp are more way popular around here, also not overpriced and more aesthetically pleasing than MK imo.
I’m not interested in luxury brands; there are great genuine leather bags that look better than these brands with their cheap gold plated names that everyone has. Wherever I go there is someone carrying a Chanel now. I prefer to invest in real estate. I feel buying these bags is like throwing money out of the window.
I have a couple MK bags that I bought on sale and have lasted years they were great quality. I think it’s important to consider that good style and buying items of quality are unrelated at times to the brand.
I used to be fan of MK bags and had few of them over the years. But for me quality is way worse than it used to be so I sold all of them and kept one as a working (tote) bag. Also it's just almost everywhere as you mentioned in the video. I prefer Coach or Coccinelle instead because quality of the gold hardware seems to be way more better.
Hi, Eileen! I bought 2 Ateliers Auguste bags, Mini Marly in black and Alma in taupe, because of your review. However, I forgot to use your discount code! I still have to receive the bags, though. Love from the Philippines.🥰
When I wear a fake or knockoff of kislux , I feel proud knowing that I am not spending unnecessary money and I can look good while proudly supporting my family. As for the owners of designer brands, they have it all. There is no need to support them.
Thank you for this insightful video. I guess tacky is in the eye of the beholder. 😊 I have 2 MK bags. One is from 2015, and it’s a beautiful leather and denim drawstring bag. I bought it from a department store. I think that having bag designs at varying price points gives the consumer options. I have Gucci, LV, Coach, Kate Spade,Michael Kors, Longchamp, and a few others, and I carry them all for different reasons and for different occasions. I do think Michael Kors quality is not as good as it once was, but I know people have said the same thing about LV ( compared to bags from the 80’s & 90’s).
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree with the general decline in quality across many designer bags. I stopped buying Chanel a while ago because of that too xx
Omg this is why versace came out with versace jeans.. I always wondered why they would do that to themselves, but now it makes sense since it's owned by MK now.
I have no idea what you mean by the Selma not being good quality. I bought a black Selma around the same time period that you mentioned and it was beautiful and often complimented. I used it extensively for work, and though it is now retired it still looks almost perfect. The quality definitely stood up. This video reeks of snobbery imo.
It does 💯, bless her! Thank you. I wish she’d address the tackiest of the tackiest models from LV, Gucci &Co., with their bags overly adorned in logos and dripping down cheap metal chains and flowery/ busy, loud patterns. This lady has no depth taking ethical topics up for a constructive debate with regards to fashion and couture. For that, I always go to Super Dacob. She’s just in desperate need for content.
Tory Burch and Coach are great mid range luxury brands, excellent quality. But honestly, all other luxury brands are best bought preloved these days, including LV, Chanel, Dior, and Hermes.
I don't if you know but Michale kors has two secions , on the site you have the cheaper brand and the Michael kors collection which has the higher end bags which are very expensive and well made. Also , tacky is only what you think not what everyone see's. People can and should buy what they can afford. Mk said he wanted all people to have nice bags so he makes them. Can the same be said of chanel or hermes who only glorify exclusivity leaving everyone out and making them beg.. I don't think so .
I always been a fan of crossbody mostly. I bought 2 pair of their shoes some vanilla sneakers and white high boots. My crossbody bags usually last me like 3-4 years and one still going. But I do agree on the overly logo style I prefer to go the soild color crossbody purses and and rarely find crossbody from michael with overly logo I like.
The same thing happened to Marc Jacobs. Was a very expensive brand with nice leather handbags and now the cheaper line, Marc by Marc Jacobs dominates and now they are all just called "Marc Jacobs". It still dominates, but the bags are better quality than MK.
Different design languages for different folks. Believe it or not, there is actually a market for tacky designs - certain people will only be convinced a bag is of designer quality if there is something substantial to see and touch on it. I'm not into tacky designs, but I'm also not into the designs of most luxury brands either. Many are flap bags (so annoying to open), heavy, have limited pockets and thin shoulder straps. Instead Coach and Fossil bags are more my cup of tea ❤ 10:22
Itâs not that I'm bothered by people buying dupes or fakes, but if I invest my hard earned money into that item, I wouldnât want to buy that brand, or bag, or design and find something more than fit into my needs and wants as kislux . And nothing is wrong with that.
I bought the Selma crossbody bag ten years ago but I sold it the next year. The quality wasn't that good. For example the metal parts had a coating that started peeling off 🙁 I have some clothes from MK and they have been a better quality. Only good things to say about them. Generally, when I look at the photos from Michael Kors fashion shows, there are always beautiful, timeless pieces there. I think the main line of the brand is underrated for some reason.
MK is definitely considered tacky here. The Kors collection line is beautiful but slow selling and doesn’t hold its value. To many MK outlets and over saturated market with the lower price MK line. The quality has steadily dropped over the years. The bags from the late 90s were great quality but anything now is terrible. I’m not sure how they stay in business when Coach has great quality for nearly the same price, and it’s more elevated than MK.
I live in The Czech Republic. To be honest we do not have much money here to buy lux handbags. I own lots of leather bags from MK. I also have COCCINELLE and these are much better than MK. Love ❤ from the Czech Rep.
I have quality issue with MK handbag which i owned 2 of this brand. Their quality are lower than my expectations especially the handles are easily broken. Better choose other American brand like Coach, Tory Burch with better quality which I owned a few which have no quality issue.
Totally agree. The handles on my MK tote bags would start cracking and peeling within 6 months of use. I moved on from the brand years ago because of the quality issues.
Maybe it’s cause I’m old and I don’t give a crap what everyone else has. I have bags ranging from Walmart to Chanel and I bought them because I like them not because they’re trendy or because I think I’m better than anyone else when I’m out with my Chanel double flap. I love my MK bags, I think I own at least 30; MK will always have a special place in my heart and in my closet. I don’t care what some rich snob on TH-cam thinks.
I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and donât want to spend so much money on a bag... kislux allows them to save a lot.
Beautiful exposition, but it's arguable that so many more expensive brands these days are the same quality if not less than MK. Also, i understand where you're coming from so far as outlet stores go, but literally setting fire to leftover stock is rather "tacky" too I'd say.....
I totally agree with Eileen . I have never liked MK bags , why would a designer plaster his name all over his bags. That said, everybody likes different things, so just enjoy what you like.
@@mamad5686Thank you! I fully agree💯 No logo-logo, but it depends on the logo, so to speak. I smell double standards/ stinky snobbishness in these people and this video is what I consider tacky. I went for the MK logo totes, as I love the LV monogram, for many reasons: LV quality is an issue in recent years, the price is prohibitive, the fact of strutting out there carrying such a loud logo is at risk of attracting unwanted attention and the LV limited sizes for totes and the lack of functionality. I absolutely adore my MK totes, brown and white logo. I’ve used them daily for years now, they are beyond functional, great quality, retained their initial shape, have several pockets and a great inner structure and….they carry my lovely LV SLGs. I thought at the time that this was a compromise, but I don’t think that way for a minute now.
Michael Kors is a talented designer, but the aesthetic does not appeal to me. The quality of the leather is on the low end. Michael Kors himself has stated that he intends for the bags to aspirational for lower incomes as the company’s business strategy. There’s nothing wrong with being, or buying from, a discount brand. After amassing a closet of “luxury” goods, I’m no longer interested in luxury either. I just want “good” quality, but my definition of that does not include this brand.
The MK logo is not pretty, to be a monogram like LV monogram, Celine... The is not an art. Only the print. So I definitely think it is not cute a bit tacky. The ones who is actually just the good leather with only the name is fine. Yes, the quality/finishing is not worth it the money. Coach is better on details/hardware. I have the same feelings about Tory, not attractive. I own two on my earlier 20s, one I bought on TJMaxx other at Macys and I sold/gave away, one I started buying Coach/LV/Celine/Chloe/Gucci... Vintages bags have higher qualities.
I always thought the Michael Kors brand was a wannabe Ralph Lauren or Bill Blass. Unlike those brands I have never seen a signature look that defines a part of the culture. Kors is over priced clothing and accessories that look like everything else you can get for less or if you wat to pay more you would seek the original.
Very hypocritical video, LV, Hermes, Chanel etc are NOT EXCLUSIVE anymore, you can get ANY of these bags on the preloved platforms have you forgot about that? A lot of those brands are TACKY too, and if you really think about it take little money to make and the prices are jacked up and OVERPRICED! The vachetta on the LVS once darkened look DISGUSTING AND GROSS!
Oh, dear, snob much?! MK makes some very good quality products, some very subtle and some loud designs, plenty to choose from, by individual taste, life is too short, who cares.. I love MK monogram in both brown and white totes, especially that are few choices for the size. I’ve used them daily with no mercy for years and they are in the exact shape and intact despite the daily use. I love the Neverfull LV look, but the sizes are limited and the price is atrocious, no way I can justify that, so MK totes do serve me very well indeed, on top, I’ve got inner pockets and a zip to protect my bag contents. The MK leather bags are of top quality too. Really, no need to air off snobbish tastes, THAT is tacky. I used to like your channel….
Why do you research companies who don't care about you? They are getting over on any and everyone who will spend money on their overpriced bags and treat you like a number they don't care what you own and what you don't buy they don't even know your name.
How can we trust what you have to say on this topic when you use affiliate links for other brands (and say you recommend them)? You have a conflict-of-interest and therefore we don't know if we can trust your opinion.
The YSL bag does not look any bit like the Kelly and the Coach Tabby does not look like the Fendi baguette. There is a difference between copying designs and using common silhuettes. For example, The Dior tote is a classic bag silhouette that anybody can use. So is the LV Alma dome bag. Other brands that used the silhouette cannot be accused of copying. However, LV's multi pochette is uniquely LV's design, so i could say that Prada did copy it even though they used a different material like nylon. But going back to your topic, yes, i agree that MK has become notorious for copying designs and making itself somewhat a tacky brand because it is available everywhere and they imitated the saffiano leather of Prada, but MK bags look cheaper because it has lost the "leather feel" of some of their bags.
This video is only my very humble two cents about some of the designs from Michael by MK. I understand not everyone will share the same cup of tea. Like I said in the video, MK has a loyal customer base and I totally respect that . Apologies to anyone who finds this upsetting xx

@Pinkbear20 I'm sorry that you went through such a tough experience. I hope things are better for you now. ❤
I love Michael Kors it will be my next bag plus sunglasses, saving up for it❤
Birkin and Kelly’s are beautiful, well crafted handbags. It’s not just a brand name. They are elegant, classy, and timeless.
I agree about Dooney and Bourke bags. They are so well made, with very nice leathers. Don't know why they aren't more popular.

Agree with your comments - over expansion and over saturation.
I would say though that as a designer, Michael was the first women's ready-to-wear designer for Celine, and worked there from 97 to 03.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
La sakoj ene de LYXBAG estas perfektaj kiel donacoj por amikoj. La prezo ne estas alta kaj la kvalito estas bona.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Yes the color of the *hotdups* is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
What a great comparison! Everything is so cute! Especially the *preluxz* tote. Their style is so chic, stylish, classy and understated!
I don't really care about exclusivity. Others opinions is the last thing I'm interested in. I've had Prada, Burberry, LV bags and hated them all 😂 My Coach, Kate Spade, and MK bags have been my favorite and most practical.
Thanks for sharing!!xx
MK is not any worse than plastic Prada or monogram LV canvas. The only difference is that MK does not change an arm and a leg. It makes no sense to throw shade on MK. If you like it buy it and enjoy it. Who cares about “exclusivity”?
My takeaway from the video was how proper branding and display promotes perception of value. Not necessarily putting the MK brand down despite the title.
@@kathleenherzik9858 That is an excellent point. Luxury brands charge for “perception of value” not real value.
@@nikyn.2136 Great minds think alike 😀
MK was crazy good. Back when it produced simplicity and quality, i saved up for a “Mercer All in One” bag. Black, pebbled leather. It’s a top handle that converts into a sling, backpack, and had a detachable clutch for evening wear. It was GENIUS design, and i can wear it everywhere: work, date, weddings, travel. I got 10x my money’s worth.
I saved up for their leather flats too, and that serves me until today. These two are 7 years old today.
I wish they would go back to that level of craftsmanship. “Kors” could’ve been a cleaner branding.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Dooney and Bourke has been mentioned often here so I'll definitely check it out xx
I agree so much with this. I spend my money at coach because for the same price range, I can get soo much better leather quality.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Finally I chose a tory burch handbag and i love it very much ❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and i'm glad you're enjoying your new bag xx
I bought a non logo plain tan leather MK satchel bag in 2017 and it’s one of my favorites because it is sturdy. But, I think a lot of companies have hit and miss products.
Mk has 2 bag lines:
MK bags the one you say have over saturated the market, I agree.
Thank you for sharing xx
I don’t like the word tacky, I don’t use it, but I think it’s just personal taste at the end. I’m not into MK and honestly I have the same exact feeling about Coach while so many love it very much. There are brands like that , that are not just our cup of tea. To me it was a 15-20 yrs ago thing and I moved on a long time ago.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Once I went to MK outlet store and ended up buying a large tote and a rucksack. I think, they might even be made for outlet bags. I‘ve been wearing them whenever I travel to the destinations where the bag most likely will get dirty or scratched. And I must admit that the quality is really good, they are actually well made, especially for the outlet prices I paid. The only downside is that I actually would prefer them not to have the Michael Kors written on it but rather be no name bags. I think the brand image isn’t what I want to identify with.
I agree some of your points.
BUT some MK bags are ok.
I have some MK leather bags but upto now still in good looks and good quality.
Thank you for this, I really appreciate it xx
I don’t care much for brand names. My main focus is style and quality.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I have many handbags, but my favorite are Ralph Lauren Collection. They are not mid range buy any measure. But they are very well made and less recognized than Channel or Hermes, which I like.
Thanks for sharing!!xx
Not everyone can afford LV or Chanel! :) Making the product affordable by the working class is not such a bad idea.
I agree about MK bags. Every one I bought I have returned or sold. However, bags from the MK Reserve collection are much more elegant
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Unrelated but I do love my vintage coach all leather purses I have the nicer LV and Dior items but my every day bag is that vintage coach
So fabulous! I hope you bought that little Dior bag. It is so cute. You are right. The kislux is handbag heaven.
Does mk have anything tats not leather ?
Hi everyone, I hope noones going to laugh at me for this but what do you think about Guess bags? My budget is pretty small since I have not yet graduated college but I got a Guess bag from my parents and am really surprised about the quality and overall look. I know it's even cheaper than MK but would love to hear your opinion on them. I know they also got pretty tacky designs with some bags but overall, I'm super happy with my bag and would love to purchase another one in the future. The reselling points are also surprisingly good.
I've personally not tried Guess bags, but would appreciate if anyone can share some thoughts here xx
And remember, Dior is alleged to spend $57 to make a bag they sell for $2700. May as well get a bag you like for an honest value!
I have some of the more plain MK bags, not the really tacky logo-mania ones you are spot on about. I think the quality is okay, it is sturdy enough, but u wouldn’t call it luxurious. I don’t think I would buy again.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I agree with you. I won’t purchase anything MK.
I've never been an MK fan and I don't own anything by them. Coach is the main mid-range brand I tend to buy. To me, the monogram all over on some of these brands is basically them copying higher end luxury brands like LV and Gucci who were doing it from the start.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Hi Have you heard about, the new speedy 18 special order, currently offered on the Chinese market only, at around USD 3.800?
No I haven’t , do you own one?
@@ColourfulNoir no they can only be bought in China. Thought it would be interesting for you to read up on and share with your viewers as not many TH-camrs have clocked it yet
MK's problem isn't really quality or style but rather over saturation of the market. One bag style can be found in twenty different color variations and sizes.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
My collections have a MK bags for me the design that I choosed is not tacky !
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I think most people around where I live think MK is tacky too. For people who are not in mood for ultra high end brands, brands like Longchamp are more way popular around here, also not overpriced and more aesthetically pleasing than MK imo.
Thank you for the informative video. Good to know about MK's commercial strategy. I won't buy a single thing from them.
I’m not interested in luxury brands; there are great genuine leather bags that look better than these brands with their cheap gold plated names that everyone has. Wherever I go there is someone carrying a Chanel now. I prefer to invest in real estate. I feel buying these bags is like throwing money out of the window.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Real investments definitely should come first xx
I agree
I have a couple MK bags that I bought on sale and have lasted years they were great quality. I think it’s important to consider that good style and buying items of quality are unrelated at times to the brand.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I used to be fan of MK bags and had few of them over the years. But for me quality is way worse than it used to be so I sold all of them and kept one as a working (tote) bag. Also it's just almost everywhere as you mentioned in the video. I prefer Coach or Coccinelle instead because quality of the gold hardware seems to be way more better.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I think esthetic and style. I love coach and people who own luxury bag crap on it. I enjoy your perspective ❤
Hi, Eileen! I bought 2 Ateliers Auguste bags, Mini Marly in black and Alma in taupe, because of your review. However, I forgot to use your discount code! I still have to receive the bags, though. Love from the Philippines.🥰
Hope you enjoy your bags! I believe the discount code will give you a 10% discount xx
I have 2 MK bags.
I don't understand people who buy their bags on chinese websites, terrible. With *esluxy* you will be on another fashion level.
Classy, subtle,shade 😬
Michael Kors used to rip off designs from Project Runway designers when he was a judge. I've refused to buy the brand for years because of that.
Thank you for sharing! I heard he was a judge but didn't look into the details xx
Thanks for sharing!xx
I don't if you know but Michale kors has two secions , on the site you have the cheaper brand and the Michael kors collection which has the higher end bags which are very expensive and well
made. Also , tacky is only what you think not what everyone see's. People can and should buy what they can afford. Mk said he wanted all people to have nice bags so he makes them.
Can the same be said of chanel or hermes who only glorify exclusivity leaving everyone out and making them beg.. I don't think so .
I prefer Coach and vintage Coach. Can you do a video on this brand? ❤ your videos!
Thank you for the suggestion, noted xx
I always been a fan of crossbody mostly. I bought 2 pair of their shoes some vanilla sneakers and white high boots. My crossbody bags usually last me like 3-4 years and one still going.
But I do agree on the overly logo style I prefer to go the soild color crossbody purses and and rarely find crossbody from michael with overly logo I like.
LOVE MK. THE STYLE AND PRICE.
The same thing happened to Marc Jacobs. Was a very expensive brand with nice leather handbags and now the cheaper line, Marc by Marc Jacobs dominates and now they are all just called "Marc Jacobs". It still dominates, but the bags are better quality than MK.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Only one time I bought MK bag because there was no logo visible
Different design languages for different folks. Believe it or not, there is actually a market for tacky designs - certain people will only be convinced a bag is of designer quality if there is something substantial to see and touch on it.
I'm not into tacky designs, but I'm also not into the designs of most luxury brands either. Many are flap bags (so annoying to open), heavy, have limited pockets and thin shoulder straps.
Instead Coach and Fossil bags are more my cup of tea ❤ 10:22
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
MK indeed look cheap and tacky. A turn off.
Garish logo.
For example the metal parts had a coating that started peeling off 🙁
I have some clothes from MK and they have been a better quality. Only good things to say about them.
Generally, when I look at the photos from Michael Kors fashion shows, there are always beautiful, timeless pieces there. I think the main line of the brand is underrated for some reason.
Hello! Do you have the same opinion about See by Chloe? I really love their boho designs.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
Interesting that all the lux brands(authentic) can now be found on Amazon--
Agreed.
Very articulated.
Thank you xx
I understand and agree with a lot of your feelings. Sorry you are getting so much negativity in the comments for just having your own opinion.
Thank you so much for understanding. The video is only my humble two cents about how the brand has evolved from the original brand xx
I live in The Czech Republic. To be honest we do not have much money here to buy lux handbags. I own lots of leather bags from MK. I also have COCCINELLE and these are much better than MK. Love ❤ from the Czech Rep.
MK certainly has a stigma. I really don’t like the brand. I think it’s naff 🙈
Thank you for sharing xx
Maybe it’s cause I’m old and I don’t give a crap what everyone else has. I have bags ranging from Walmart to Chanel and I bought them because I like them not because they’re trendy or because I think I’m better than anyone else when I’m out with my Chanel double flap. I love my MK bags, I think I own at least 30; MK will always have a special place in my heart and in my closet. I don’t care what some rich snob on TH-cam thinks.
I find Coach and Furla have better quality than MK for the similar budget.
I had a Furla before and it was a lovely bag xx
Hey, what about Aldo? I like ..cheaper too hehehehe
I haven't had any experience with Aldo bags but I have tried their shoes! They were quite comfy xx
Valid points
I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and donât want to spend so much money on a bag... kislux allows them to save a lot.
Beautiful exposition, but it's arguable that so many more expensive brands these days are the same quality if not less than MK. Also, i understand where you're coming from so far as outlet stores go, but literally setting fire to leftover stock is rather "tacky" too I'd say.....
I have never been attracted to Michael Kora products.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
I totally agree with Eileen . I have never liked MK bags , why would a designer plaster his name all over his bags. That said, everybody likes different things, so just enjoy what you like.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts xx
@@hh565 and LV monogram?
@@mamad5686Thank you! I fully agree💯
No logo-logo, but it depends on the logo, so to speak.
A definite no for me as well.
Thank you for sharing xx

I can't see MK as a luxury brand. They don't look good quality or luxurious to me. They look like supermarket common brand to me. 😅
The logo is far too in your face.
