So I have a pretty parallel connection here. My family is from upstate NY. I was born in Rochester, and my father was a HUGE basketball fan. We moved to San Diego in the mid-seventies, and my dad jumped on the opportunity to have season tickets for the Clippers. I lucked out and became a ball boy for the first three years of the Clippers existence in SD. Talk about joy and pain. My dad loved every second of NBA action in San Diego. When Sterling moved them to LA (and ripped off the Laker logo the year before) it completely broke my dad's heart. I was pissed too. I'll always feel something special for the Clippers, but nothing can beat the days when San Diego was home. Great video!
You know what l'd like to see, N.B.A. team in Pgh. (Pittsburgh), Penna. g'vng "Keystone State" (where l reside in) llnd N.B.A. team. I feel that just one lone Penna.-based N.B.A. team in '76ers from Phila. isn't enough, l think it's time for cross-state Pgh. (Pittsburgh), "Iron City" to get llnd Penna.-based N.B.A. team, although it's doubtful right now that that'll happen soon
Buffalo would have gotten an MLB team around the same time as the Braves and Sabres if the Montreal Expos (now Washington Nationals) had not been so resilient in getting Jarry Park ready in time for 1969. Buffalo only had an MLB team on a temporary basis when the Toronto Blue Jays had to relocate during the pandemic. The Bills future should be rock solid for at least a generation with their new stadium under construction. Moving to the west coast has not broken the Braves turned Clippers curse; they are the oldest NBA franchise to never win a title, or even play in the finals for that matter.
And a well earned Curse it is. I saw the Braves from 3 seasons before they had the Big 4 + their bench until the team moved and it was a disaster. Just sad, what could of been.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The Buffalo Braves started playing the same year I was born..1970!! Funny thing, I was at The Jefferson Avenue Family Festival at the beginning of this summer and there was a gentleman selling Buffalo Braves Gear!! It is STILL Extremely popular. Especially in The African American Community. A Brotha walked up and we both started checking out Braves merch to buy and both said this...."We Miss Our Team"!! This is tragic and DID NOT have to be. Short sightedness, bad planning and selfishness caused something that did not have to occur!! Downtown Buffalo died after The Braves left Buffalo. My older sister used to take me and my older brother to the games all the time. Because my Mom and Sister both worked for Twin Fair (Target Today), the owners would give my Mom the hookup on good tickets!! My Dad who wasn't really into sports even enjoyed The Braves. I remember them coming out of the locker room and speaking to me once as a little kid!! We always had Gold Seats in the Aud. Great Times. Long Live The Buffalo Braves!!!!

On September 25, 1974, the Braves played the Pistons at Maple Leaf Gardens.. I was at that game with a ticket from my middle school gym teacher who got tickets somehow. It was great fun and would try to get to more games but tickets were scarce.
I’m a Laker fan but I love the Buffalo Braves jerseys during the Bob McAdoo era but it is a shame that they moved the team to San Diego then later on in Los Angeles. Btw Welcome back😊😊

I joined the Navy the year the Braves left Buffalo; it was heartbreaking when they left. The weird part is, they followed me to San Diego lol, where I was stationed. Still, it wasn't the same, but I did get to see them up close as they practiced a few times on base.

They were stiffed in the 70s by the Buffalo Sabres and Canisius College who got all the prime dates at the old Aud and the Braves were stuck with what was left over. Unless they can find a place of their own I doubt they will ever be another NBA team in Buffalo.

Technically the Celtics and the Braves didn't swap teams because the NBA didn't allow it. What they did was they traded the Franchises, all the players and the coaching staff but the teams remained the same. This was done to bypass the cities of Boston and Buffalo's legal pushback and the NBA's oversight. So Legally speaking the Braves became the Celtics and the 13 time NBA Champion Boston Celtics became known as the Buffalo Braves which are now known as the LA Clippers.
