Glenturret 12 definitely carries itself like a much older whiskey. I had some friends over a few weeks ago and they had never heard of it. I was letting them sample some other whiskey's and at the end of the night I brought out 3 glasses of premium whiskey. In the first glass was a dram of Balvenie 25, the second glass was Glenfiddich 26 and the third I told them was a surprise. They were both amazed by it and I had them guess as to what it could be. They each said that if it were less than an 18 year they'd be shocked. Glenturret 12 is incredible and holds its own against much more premium whiskeys!

It is very good, isn't it! Quite a set of treats that you gave your friends!

    Hi,
I always liked Glenturret and I think they are fine now with the new French owner. I have the 12 year old and 10 year old peated version at home. Both are very tasty. Thanks for making this review. Cheers from Germany

The Master Blender, Bob Dalgarno, spent 30 years at Macallan, so no surprise that this 12 YO is very fine. Only a cask strength ABV could improve it. Your nosing and tasting is pretty much what I found. I'm taking small sips from my bottle, hoping it will never be empty. Cheers, Phil.

Good review. Agree this one needs time to open up and fully appreciate this lovely offering.
    Cheers 🥃

Me, too! I've been avoiding sherry casks, but I've tried three absolute stunners this year.

That sounded so good, dense and thick. Almost olive oil. Thanks for sharing!

Olive oil you say!??! As a Mediterranean I'm now very intrigued! I have not had an unpeated Glenturret yet but I do love the peated ones so yeah this sounds great I'll have to get my hands on one. Cheers Phil!

Lovely dram -- I may have to buy a back up bottle or two for my other back up bottles!

Couldn't agree more. Especially with the way sherry whiskies are going.

I bought 2020 Maiden release 10yo peat smoke and although it smells real good somehow I didn't connect with the taste. And the bottle collects dust ever since.
Maybe it's time to give her another try or this new 12yo.
Cheers and thank you for all the great reviews.

That's a real shame. I've tried the 2022 version and really enjoyed it. I hope it's opened up.

They are smart. Possibly building reputation with superior ingredients and in the right moment, act "a la Macallan". I think now is a proper moment to enjoy the whisky before Lalique takes action and starts targetting luxury market audience. Thank you for the video.

One reason Glenturret is very similar to Macallan is that it used to be owned by Macallan until 2009 I guess so sherry casks are identical to ones at Macallan. This is the same also with some of the older Glengoynes too.

Very true! But it somehow feels that Glenturret, with their current stock, are doing a better service to the sherry casks than Macallan.

Great review. Has anyone had this alongside the 2020? That’s the only one of these that I have. I love it. 🥃

I think a few reviewers had the early versions. Aquavitae did, I think.

I really think this is a step up from the GlenAllachie, Billy's own is coming soon...
Closer to Edradour, even the peated.

One thing you could have mentioned mate, is that it is not that far off the Macallan edition serie (except maybe the 5) in terms of profile. The 2021 release was better than the 2022 that being said

I'll have to investigate that regarding the year vintages.
Maybe the #2 and the #4. But I don't think it was that similar to the other 4.

Not connecting with this one unfortunately. Can't get passed the damp dank moldy cellar & stagnant water type of note I'm getting on the nose and palate.

That's a real shame! Sherry can really divide.
