I owned the 300m version of tje Seiko Marinemaster Tuna, the SBBN015 and once I tried that one I realized I might pull off a bigger one, and true enough this one looks great despite my relatively small wrist of 6.7"
The SBBN025 more commonly known as the Darth Tuna is a 1000m monoblock case diver with an original and legendary design.
As I mentioned in the unboxing video, I got another Tuna as a loaner for this comparison video, the limited edition Platinum tuna with a Cermet shroud SBBN029.
Cermet is a ceramic/metal alloy that has the best of both worlds, and despite the shiny appearance it is more befiting a tool watch than the regular ceramic found on the Darth.
Both versions are powered by the legendary 7C46 quartz movement that was designed specifically for the Tuna. Jeweled, servicable and with a high torque motor, it is one of the best quartz movements out there.

OMG I HAVE THE 029 as well, trust me, that cermat shroud, is literal tank armor. It is way more shatter proof than the darth's ceramic.

This watch is legendary and nothing swiss made comew close to it. I also love the hands and are so practical and easy to read I kinda miss that in other watches.
I myself have the 033, Frankentuna and a Baby Tuna.
I had the original Arnie back in the late 80's (I didn't know then it would become famous) I bought the reissue this year and while I like it, it has a bit too much polished metal on it for me.
I really like the Darth Tuna and so I'm going to save up and hopefully grab one. The all black just works.
I find myself in a quandary though. I have a Garmin Instinct Tactical and it does so much more than an ordinary watch does. I can hit the button and see it in the dark (which is easier than trying to read my arnie mkII as I have poor close up vision) plus I get all the other benefits of a connected watch. With that being said, there's something nice about not having your watch vibrate every time someone on twitter farts.

I picked up the steel SBBN 033 tuna 300m version a few months back and it is just a beast. Wears superbly on my 6.75 inch wrist , lug to lug distance is deceptively short. Easy battery change which can be done by any basic watch shop.

BTW, just wanted to add that I've manage to score a mint SBDX014 Gold Emperor Tuna. I am telling you now - you will love the Emperor. I have same wrist size and he wears like the Darth, no overhanging. The only issue is that it is a beefy watch so like the other tunas, shirts with cuffs are debatable.

I love my tunas, have the sbbn025 1000m quartz, sbdx011 sbdx014 and sla041 1000m auto emperors, sbbn031 300m quartz and sbdb013 spring drive tuna. Still missing a cermet version but tempted to go for the sbdx016 LE with gold cermet shroud.
Tuna, Marinemaster 300, and Sumo are the legends of modern mid-hi end Seiko diver (2000s-2016 era). Original, tool like in form and far away from the marketing noise and rapid price increase of Seiko Prospex line
Both are right up my street and I like them a lot.
I would love to see how Seiko changes the battery, I assume you have to send it back to them due to the mono block case design and having to go in from the top to swap out the cell, be an interesting video that.
Its actually not that complicated.
You unscrew the shroud bolts, take off the shroud and bezel.
Then use a special key, or you can use the case back removal tool to unscrew the crystal retaining ring. Then you have a cutout at the dial where you press a button to release the crown and pull it out. That allows you to take out the movement and replace the battery
The Seiko srpd31 is very similar as to how small it wears. Its an auto from the Prospex land series I don't se allot of people talking about but I got one for Christmas and its fantastic. Its 43mm but because the lugs are almost under the case you wouldn't know it.

Oddly enough, I have never been able to wear a 1000m quartz tuna comfortably. I have tried many times and currently have a SBBN040. However I find that my SBDX011 Emperor Tuna though bigger and heavier is much more comfortable. It may have to do with the mini lugs that move the strap end point outwards of the shroud so the straps fit better. I also like the ability to try lots of straps due to the drilled lugs .
I find the 1000-m Quartz Tuna to sit better on my 6.5" wrist than the 300-m Quartz Tuna. I think it has to do with the shorter distance between the springbars on the 1000-m quartz, and also because it is made of Titanium (lighter).

Hello mate, I have own a lot of seikos and 50% comes with some sort of misalignment. And this will be a hate comment on seiko not your videos you make great videos and content. These are good watches but not perfect. As a perfect world yes you can be a diver and send your watch for service to don't void the warranty. But why not get a citizen ecozilla same principle but solar with proven 20 years plus of functionality. Best apocalypse watch? Anyways my memory of a bad seiko is fresh just got a seiko samurai with really bad misalignment sent it back. Rant completed and sorry to have done it on your video!
Haha I agree about the misalignment, you can see me joke about it in many videos where i review cheap micros who got that right
I agree!... SEIKO CAN DO PERFECT BUILD QUALITY, e.g GRAND SEIKO, therefore, the same quality control procedures should be mandatory throughout all of their high end product range!

As Citizen diehard I must remind you that Citizen was the first brand which used Titanium!! I love Tuna but I think that Solar Retrozilla and Seiko Monster has the most unique and original design ever!!

Are these priced about the same? Both 2k? If so then the 029 offers more performance for the price with the shroud and partially lumed bezel

I’m really torn what to do and I would like to have your view pls. I don’t know if spending £1300 on a tuna is a right decision or do I spend on a SKX007.. I cannot find a skx 007 Japan model for under £350. Can I ask you a question regarding the degrade of value of both watches... will both watches hold their price ? I really like both watches and I’m torn what to do... is the tuna worth £1300 ? Just like to get your opinion please. Many thanks WG your the best
Both are very easy to flip, especially if you get them used, you shouldn't lose money or lose very little, the SKX is a better everyday watch as it pairs with pretty much any style and situation while the Tuna is a much more of a beast and an eye catcher.
Maybe go for the SKX first and see how you like it since it's much more affordable

No, he bought this one from me, and sold the platinum to another buyer, sadly I made the arrangement of him buying it from me before I held it in my hands.
I was very sad to let it go, but a deal was a deal and I had to honor it, so currently I am without a tuna 😪

Not to the area where I live, even though we were shaking. But the area west of me got hit pretty hard and many lost their houses with about half a dozen dead and hundreds injured
