    Trivia Facts:
    600m and 1000m TUNAS all have a TITANIUM BEZEL.
    300M TUNA have a STAINLESS STEEL BEZEL.
    200M solar TUNA all have ALUMINUM ALLOY BEZEL.
    From Mid 90's to early 2000's SEIKO briefly had a 200m SEIKO TUNA With the 7c43 QUARTZ MOVEMENT which was later reincarnated 2015/2018 as a 200m SOLAR TUNA with the V157 caliber.
    The 7c43 and 7c46 QUARTZ calibres are predecessors of the 7548 Caliber.
    *The 7c43 had a 3 year battery life (discontinued)
    *7C46 Has a 5-6 year battery life and so did the 7543/6/8 QUARTZ.
    The 7548 QUARTZ Caliber is arguably the best QUARTZ as it was all metal and shared the Chasis with the 7000 series Automatic Caliber. Matter of fact, the 7s26 is identical to 7c46 chasis.
    I usually source my 7543/6/8 from Ebay vintage dress watches for around 20-50bux. Anybody can easily fix those things. Usually you will see them listed as non working for $20,30,40 bux. The only two culprit with the 754* movement is leaked battery or/and blown $12 coil from enslinger.
    I love SEIKO 7 SERIES QUARTZ Movement. Very robust yet easy to repair and idiot proof.
    My next mod is to buy a TITANIUM TUNA CASE from Ali Express for a 100bux and a Tuna Replica dial from Namokis $120 and slap a SEIKO 7456 QUARTZ and am good.

    Saving for the Gold tuna reissue SBBN040. I love this watch and I hate gold on watches but this one has a distinct not cringe look to it since it is actual Titanium Nitrate coated that gives the so called golden look. Worth mentioning the fact that the shroud this time is made from Zirconia ceramic instead of the regular ceramic.
    Also - not sure why but for some time it was believed that the gold looks was achieved with a cheaper PVD coating method - it is confirmed that much like the ones before it, the current Gold Tuna has the same coating (but probably with improved formula or method).

    Great video with tons of interesting pointers, but would love to see more on the solar tunas! This year during Baselworld an Arnie-esc solar was announced. Any thoughts?

      @InterestingWatches  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I plan on getting the solar Arnie, assuming the size is close to the original. Cautiously optimistic about that one.

      @@InterestingWatches sadness man. I've been thinking about adding the Darth Tuna or a Golden Tuna to my collection, but prices have gotten ridiculous... especially for the quartz 1000m versions.

      It really has. Deals are still out there, you just have to be very patient. Best advice I can give is to set up a bunch of international eBay saved searches and keep an eye on the local classified newspaper sections.

    The 7C43/46 was not really an "upgrade" to the 7549, it replaced it but was inferior in almost all aspects. I think only the accountants at Seiko thought it was a good idea. Hopefully that's not what you meant.

    • @patricko9170
      @patricko9170 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wayfarer_1 No, the 7549 is of superior build quality to the 7C46. The 7549's main-plate is entirely metal. The 7C46's is plastic. Furthermore, the 7549 has an actual captive trimmer. It looks like a screw head. This is used to adjust the frequency of the quartz crystal. Lastly, it is a high-torque movement and its design does not warrant 2 additional jewels. If you service these movements you can obviously see the quality difference and the 7549 and 7548 are superior to a 7C46. The only thing they lack is battery life compared to the 7C46.

      Hmm…it seems that the differences are fairly minor (marinemaster print/different shroud screws/signed crown). The main thing is the unique bracelet on the 017, if you can get it. I wear mine on a rubber strap, so the 007 works just fine.
