Did You Know In THE TWILIGHT ZONE…

  • Rod Serling made up the sixth dimension that he talks about in the intro for the first season. He didn’t realize that there were only four dimensions that were thought to be known. They are represented by a line, a plane, a cube, and time. When the studio asked him what the other two dimensions were, he mentioned that he thought there were five dimensions. So, he changed the narration to say that there are five dimensions instead of six. Rod also thought that he had come up with the term, Twilight Zone. He later found out that the Air Force uses the term when they fly from the day and night sides of the earth.

Man may not have had the right words for it, but he knew exactly what he was talking about.

Imagine coming up with the coolest name for a TV show ever and then finding out it's already a term

I prefer calling it the sixth dimension. Implies it is beyond the unimaginable.

He wrote 92 of the 156 episodes. Still impressive to write 92 stories in five years.

Mathematically, there are arbitrarily many dimensions. For a simple example, suppose you have two asteroids interacting with each other gravitationally. Each particle in asteroid number 1 interacts with each particle in asteroid number 2. To find the total interaction, you have to integrate over the x, y, and z coordinates of asteroid 1, AND over the x, y, and z coordinates of asteroid 2. That makes for a 6-dimensional integral.

In robotics the arm has as many dimensions as axes. Bc you need this many numbers to express the position of the arm.

Don’t those all reside within the three dimensions of length, width and height?

Actually According to ( String Theory ) there could be anywhere between 10 to 26 dimensions not 5 dimensions.
