Full of admiration for this lady! Elephants have ALWAYS been my favourite animal since I was a small child after watching a wildlife documentary about them. I saw how sentient and majestic they were and was hooked! Beautiful animals being studied by a beautiful human!!!
Good point, they probably have maps of their brains and can likely differentiate between the concerted meaning of their thoughts by the brain activity and regions that jointly concurrent and concerted at anyone given time. The brain stores specific functions in specific places, which makes it already organized to read what they are likely thinking about.
saw something recently that they are creating a database of many animals vocalizations in an attempt to create an animal - human rosetta stone with AI.
She's doing a great job, studying the elephants and recording what she finds. I had no idea they had so many vocalizations. I'd also like to see an update.
Very cool, but still interpreted thru our emotions, shaped by our life experiences and thoughts. We are watching them and assigning emotions and thoughts based on how we see their actions.
That’s so true. I was thinking that when they were interpreting the elephants sounds. I thought “ but you’re assigning human emotions to animals through your own understanding of them, not the elephants” . Now I may be naive but you seem to also think that, so maybe there’s something to it??
Everyone acts so shocked how similar animals are to us. Why?! They live on the same planet and deal with the same issues we do. Cause they don't drive a car u assume they are lesser or different? Human arrogance is why people are so shocked. There is no difference between us besides how we look on the outside. Id argue animals are smarter than humans anyway in the first place. Not the other way around
Is it possible that humans also have similar long-range low-frequency type communication waves that we are not even aware of consciously... but perhaps somehow can detect and sense even subconsciously ?
I love when the researcher and is corrected by the interviewer ar 9:31 of where she says she went to the elephant "zoo" and he says the elephant "cage".....mmmm white and lighting for a reporter
Off topic but my daughters name is Angelina and it looks like yours is too. Such a beautiful name. I live in the Uk & we’ve only met one other Angelina in 20 years!! So I had to comment.
I think most animals don't use languages to speak. They use vibrations, physical movement, and sounds. Just bc we communicate with languages, doesn't mean all animals do .
By the time mankind figures out the elephant language, the elephants will be extinct; especially at the rate mankind kills them. Thank you for trying to preserve and care for them.
While the idea of elephant language is interesting, this paper seems to exaggerate its importance without providing enough solid scientific evidence. We still do not fully understand how elephant signals work and what they can actually communicate. This can lead to misunderstandings and incorrect conclusions about elephant intelligence. I think more research is needed to verify these findings before we make such grand claims.
This was really good and I'm sure I saw this back in 2010 but what I learned from my Indian Chief and other Indigenous people is that all four leggeds communicate via telepathy and through they sounds they make but so do the Whales and Dolphins and that is how they communicate with each other! And Sasquatch communicate via telepathy too. They are very highly evolved beings! My Chief said that telepathy was the first language for humans a very long time ago. Those poachers will have karmic hell for a long time to pay off. There is a great channel on you tube by Gregory Colbert called Ashes and Snow that is quite old but it is so fantastic because it gives a much more natural perspective!!

Elephants are some of the most beautiful, magnificent creatures. I just loooove them ❤
They are communal and they are vegetarians.
@@mitchellsouphasith3763 Not vegetarians, but vegans! 😊
Indeed protect all these majestic beasts. They are important to each other & we have so much to learn from them.
Bless her heart. Elephants are so misunderstood and nowhere near as protected as they deserve.
60 minutes of wonderful escapism. 😊
This is the best youtube clip l've watched in quite some time.
Such majestic creatures
Produced 10 years ago... I wonder what discoveries about the language of elephants have been found?

Would love to see a follow up on many aspects of this riveting story. Hoping 60 Minutes has one for us.
And if we knew what they were saying about humans it would be mostly bad . 🐘

So true. My cat Buddy shows me every day how smart he is, and he's an outdoor cat.
Thank you for resharing….wish at the end you would have given us an update.

Tremendous video. Thank you. 🍀🇺🇸🍀
I wanna visit the elephants 😮
Anna Bretenbach (South Africa) is an interspecies communicator that you might consider contacting to assist this project.

Can we get an update on this particular story? This episode is quite old. I actually saw this same episode ooh..a very long time ago
They need to consult a musician with perfect pitch to help them.

Horrendous that these magnificent animals are still being slaughtered!!!

🕊🇺🇲💕 THANK YOU
They want to build a dictionary, but the vocalizations could change meaning over time. There's just no substitute for written language...
Why does the interviewer keep repeating everything Andrea says? Very strange.
When I visited this clearing, I actually slept here.
Slept here?
