    When I saw you moving your hands up & down, I was thinking more equality amongst Jamaican people. It's true re the issues you mentioned especially ' Customer service' but that shouldn't justify people's unsatisfactory behaviour. It's the same for any profession, if before you got into it you knew the salary amount but you opted to take the job,then make the best out of it. If it's a street sweeper, newspaper vendor or office worker etc.,be the best person and I believe ,God who sees you ,will uplift you. Jamaicans have a lot of good things which we celebrate, eg. Our cooking, athletics,etc. But the negative things about us needs fixing & addressing. It's not bringing down your country when one identifies the poor qualities & deal with them. Yes, everywhere has problems whether referred to as ' First world ' or Second world country'. Anyway why do we call ourselves that? Additionally, It's just like we say ' Traditional High Schools'& Non-traditional High Schools' in Jamaica. Many,if not all parents want their child/children to attend a traditional high school after passing P.E.P. exams, but the reality is that's not possible since many of our children are not able to manage there. Many of our students cannot read when they get to grade 7 at High school. So, we have much work to do. Promoting reading by issuing out free reading material to our ppl could be something, the G.O.J /:OR private entity could initiate . I've seen this in Canada when I was at the subway station. And finally Many times we imitate stuff from foreign countries,why don't we imitate & implement the good stuff from them! STAY BLESSED GUYS & please teach us some common phrases in the Swedish language. The End!!😀❤❤

      Someone who gets it and can read between the line 🙏
      Sometimes we Jamaicans don’t like to hear about what’s not working in the country because we are too proud and hence see it as one being negative. But no, I’m only pleading and praying for the island that has my heart.
      And yea, I really don’t like the terms first and third world either.
      Good points!

    Kem, you know what makes Jamaica great, all the positive things that you missed when you were in Sweden... Those you can't buy with money. No country has it all which is why you have made a decision to live in both countries in the future. What Sweden lacks, Jamaica provides you with. One love🇯🇲🇸🇪

    Kem, so proud of all your accomplishments, learning a foreign language is a asset it can get you far & thru many doors. You’re young, ambitious & a go getter, don’t worry you have time to accomplish all that you want to. Best of luck to you both on your marriage. Foreign is not easy between the different climates, you have to work super hard,
    Long hours, multiple jobs to get by.
    Once you get acclimated to a certain way of living it’s hard to adapt when you go back to certain situations. Everything you touched on makes sense & I understand your frustration, but with everything there’s Good @ Bad.🙏🏽❤️🇯🇲 🇸🇪

    I’m so happy you’ve addressed the waiting times in Jamaica. You’ve noticed this after being away for just a year. Can you imagine just how frustrating it can be for someone like me who’ve lived abroad for over 50 years? I just can’t deal with how slow the pace is here in Jamaica. The customer service need a huge shake up.

    • @mdl9096
      @mdl9096 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you tolerate the blatant racism abroad for over 50 years you will be ok with the customer service in Jamaica. There is a whole lot more positives to Jamaica like tolerance and inclusiveness. This is from someone who has lived in Canada, England, and the United States for almost 40 years.

    Congrats on your one year mark! I hear so much sadness in your tone for your country & understandably so but you cannot juxtapose the two countries to each other or you will drive yourself more & more frustrated. There are many reasons for Jamaica’s poverty & much of it has to do with internal political issues so it’s not their fault. Of course you favor your country & see it in a certain light, but you’ll have to find peace with the differences so they won’t become a weight on you & your husband even. For now enjoy the blessings God has given you two & don’t operate in guilt or discomfort for doing so. Also, I understand Alex prefers to be behind the camera but I hope to hear his voice & points of view also. Thanks for sharing with us. Btw, I’m from San Francisco Bay Area in CA & trust me no area is perfect but I Thank God everyday for what we have bc we’re still so blessed!

    congratulations to both of you , I am a Jamaican living in the United states with my husband of 24 years who is also from Jamaica , on your comment about the costumer service in Jamaica being pour is so true I found that even when I was live there I migrated 15 years ago my feeling on that topic is that it doesn't matter what you do for a living weather you a street sweeper, garbage collector or cashier no matter how much it pays unfortunately that's the job you have so until get what you want to achieve you should treat that job like it's paying you I million dollar, that also i think will help with crime , don't look at what other people have think about what you can contribute to make our society a better place ,may god continue to bless you both marriage is a full time job make time for each other and all remember why you feel in love with each other.

  • @julietbennett121
    @julietbennett121 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hello, I understand the situation on customer service. I migrated to the US in 1982 and my first time back to Jamaica was in 1988. It was very hard for me to deal with the low key vibes and the unpleasant customer service. I remembered traveling into a minivan from Montego Bay to Savanna-La-Mar and the conductor was so rude. I turned to young lady next to me and asked her why do passengers put up with the rude behavior. Before she could answer me, I immediately knew the answer. This was their only means of getting home. It had saddened me to see it happened. There were many other incidents that made me so frustrated. I agreed with you on the living situation such as cost of living and inflation and pretty much every thing you spoke about. This is my opinion on some issues. I think that some of our youths are caught up into the US lifestyle living, and everything seen whether on TV, social media they must have even if they can’t afford to. Their mindset have to change, but how, which I’m not sure with this generation. I know that some TH-cam influencers are trying their best to educate the youths in Jamaica explaining how to make money and also saving money for their future. I’m not sure if the Jamaican government or private companies may have programs they have implemented. Jamaica is a very beautiful island, it’s a gem. I hope all the best for Jamaica 🇯🇲. We are small but well known around world. As Jamaican people we are all over the globe. I wish you and Alex a healthy marriage and from the first time I saw your channel I knew that you’re a smart person. I’m not surprised of how quickly you have learnt the Sweden language. Love you both!!❤️❤️

    • @mdl9096
      @mdl9096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope the racism and disrespect that you have received in America is worth it. Jamaicans are the only people who leave and then come on social media and castigate their own. What about the positives such as women's rights, paid maternity leave, free Healthcare, inclusiveness and wholeness as a people? I guess there is no problem living in countries where you can't even go into certain neighborhoods, or black people being shot just for being, and mass murders of children in school, and churches, and parades. There is a blind eye to all those things, right? In spite of the imperfect customer service, you cannot be deported from your own country.

    😂😂😂 Cracked up laughing at your clip of the dark, cold, freezing, windy, ice & snow storm in the winter (as I’ve been there & it sucks), compared to the warm, lush, beautiful scenery you’re sitting in as I watched.
    Every country has its pros & cons. The citizens also don’t realize the blessings in their respective countries.
    Glad to hear you’re working in hospitality management. The experience will be valuable in the future.

I have lived in the Uk since I was a child and going back to Jamaica time and time again the customer service is bad especially when you go to the bank. Yes, I believe that they need to do better where customer service is concerned, but it does not happen everywhere. Anyway, you have survived the blatant racism and disrespect that is meted out to people of colour there in the UK, so I am sure that you will be okay in Jamaica where you are treated like real humans, are included, and treated like family. There is so so much positives in Jamaica which we need to highlight.

    I feel your pain. I live in the USA and feel the same way you do about poverty just moving from one borough to another. Haha. Keep your head up. Things are looking up for you already and it's because you're putting in the work. Keep evolving. Say hello to your HUSBAND for us. Thank you for this video. Miss you guys. One day do a video showing off your new language. Hejdå

    Drivng in Brooklyn and NYC is crazy(er). Since pandemic, some people just do whatever they want to on the road. They drive on opposite side of street to get out of traffic like they're police. Many complain of absence of civility and decline in social grace. There's good and bad everywhere. Your yearning for better life for your people resonates. That's what happens when you are brought up to care about your community. I hope many of these countries can do good for the populace. Freedoms are not guaranteed. I do believe you and hubby will be fine though. God Bless.

    Please take some vitamin D supplements/spray, milk, fish and eggs, during the cold long dark winters in Sweden. Depression and arthritis can hit melanated people really hard over time in the northern hemisphere countries.
    Go back to Jamaica often and invest in some land for your future children.

    In most hot countries the people work hard walk at a slower pace, even in Spain where it can be very hot, they take an afternoon siesta. People walk fast in cooler countries to keep themselves warm.

    Kem you’ll be happy to hear that the Jamaican government has just brought in a wide range of laws to try and curb the reckless driving on the roads. I hear your sadness when comparing Sweden and Jamaica. There is little you can do to change that so you have to find a way to live with the differences. I lived in Europe for many many years eventually returning to settle back in Jamaica. The economic divide is something that bothers me also but as I can’t fix it I live with it even though I’m concerned about it.
    Enjoy your new life, you are blessed.

      Saw it on the news last night. I just hope these new laws will be effective because people always find a loophole

    Very good girl, you wasted no time. I know people who go to parts of Europe, they don't work, don't drive, don't learn the language. All they do is have children and Vlog. So glad you have a vision for your life and your family. Enhance everyone's life.

    The politicians have sold out the country, so that's part of the reason and from long time we Jamaicans have been too American minded- we want everything America have and we kinda of put our culture on the back burner and years of doing that is going to show up in many negative ways in our country. I love my country but like you said- when I start talking about it or thinking about it- it gets me really sad... Thanks Kem for the video ❤

    People will get offended with what you are saying but that is fine. Without opposing feedback you can lose sight of who you are. This is not about Jamaica being a horrible country, but about experiencing different countries and seeing the difference in processes and customer service. I have been in Canada since 2016 and every single point that was brought up is 100% factual. The only part I will say is when you said you got more punctual lol lol. That is 100% on you not Jamaica lol lol. I am glad you realized that being punctual is critical to succeed. It is not easy to be away from Jamaica because of all the things that you mentioned about great people, seeing your own people, smelling your own environment, having more energy. We cannot give that up, but we also need to push our government to create better environments so people salary can increase to enjoy life a little. The power balance is off in Jamaica and needs adjusting. I am due a trip to Jamaica and cant wait, but I will ensure that I readjust my expectations because things are super fast in Canada. Deposit a cheque on your phone, tap instead of insert your card, full access to uber, uber eats, door dash, grocery services etc. Love your videos by the way. Thought it was one of those fake interracial couples that tries to fake what they do daily. I was absolutely wrong and respect for Alex to go after the lady he truly loves and provide the security for you while in Sweden. Peace
