Yesterday we had a test drive of Tesla M3, My and Smart 1 Premium. in the UK I can get a Premium for half of M3 LR (without adv autopilot). And... to be honest. with HUD, matrix headlamps, fantastic cameras, and a movable rear bench.. this is probably the car I will lease to wait for the polished project Juniper or Polestar 4.
(and yes, type 2 cable fits in the froot. tested it yesterday). 22kW charging is just awesome. sometimes 22kW type 2 chargers are 1/3 of the price of ultra chargers, while you are happy to stop to eat for 90 minutes instead of a crazy fast 20 minutes.
The charging port screams 'technical choice - we want to be compatible with Tesla superchargers'... and this is a great idea.
In EX30 you don't have HUD, matrix, expandable boot, physical buttons... I love the EX30 interior design, and I will have a test drive before the final call, but to be honest, #1 sounds like a very good option

Software still needs a ton of updates to work 100%, but within this period of 5-6 weeks, there were already 2 updates (OTA). I love driving this car. And good space for the size for 2+2 and a dog.

Starting to look like where and if you can get your EV serviced is another important buying factor. Some Kia dealers are refusing to do updates or recalls on their EVs if you didn't buy it there. Wrong thing to do, against their franchise agreement, but true and it's happening.

Volvo is in the USA as Volvo, the Swedish brand, not Geely. The EX30 will be just another Volvo sold in the USA. Smart used to be sold in the USA but I think Mercedes could bring them back as a brand if they wanted to.
Volvo is a Chinese-owned brand, not a Chinese brand. But there is also Polestar, a spinoff of Volvo that is sold in the USA as well as Lotus, the British performance car brand that is also owned by Geely (actually ZGH) and is sold in the USA.

The Polestar 4 uses the SEA platform and the Polestar 5 and 6 will use a different platform. Lotus modified the SEA platform on their cars. Not yet known is what future Volvos will use. The MPV will use the SEA platform and be close to the Zeekr009 in size and framewoork.
But Volvo is doing a lot of things and headed forward that are on their own (but will include Polestar). They are writing their own software. They are working on their own motors. They are going to use Northvolt batteries.
There are some shared Geely tech that Volvo or Polestar will use on some cars, and other tech that will be used exclusively for Volvo and Polestar. "No sale." Out of Spec should really be establishing a presence in China, which seems to be the only country on the entire planet capable of producing battery electric vehicles that perhaps half of the population of THIS country could possibly afford.
