  • In this video we will show you how to disassemble the Sonoff RF Bridge and flash Tasmota on it, then configure it for later use with node red. Sonoff RF Bridge can receive motion and door sensor readings and also control RF devices running on 433hz RF signal

    I found that you can populate all the headers if you use right-angle header pins mounted on the back of the board - it will still fit in the plastic enclosure. You still have to lift the backlight a bit to do the soldering - just point the pins in opposite directions and fit a connector during soldering to ensure they don't interfere.

      actually just directly holding the pins to the board flashes the board smoothly, even if it disconnects in between you can flash it again it is safe

    Could you flash with the cables from the back? So you don't need to lift the led thingies? I believe the switch can be reached from the side without raising the led

    • @alsolh
      @alsolh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The led is not that hard to lift just do it slowly and up to 90 degrees only. I dont think you can reach the switch without doing that but yes you can connect the pins from the back too

    Thanks, how do I switch off the sonoff bridge without powering down? It is working as an alarm that cannot be put off which is a pain, when I am home or has to keep going off because I am there, unplugging the unit doesn't sound right, what should I do

    • @alsolh
      @alsolh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This needs a software solution. You can use node red for example by pinging your phone ip in your home wifi if it is available then you are at home and don't sound the alarm

    Hi, using Tasmota on Sonoff Bridge, can I register more than 16 devices?
    Can I register the sensor scrolling code?
    Can I register more alarm devices?
    Thank you.

      with the home assistant, it's virtually limitless. I found a tutorial that you can use the codes that your sensor spits out and use I use node red to do my automation. mostly open and close sensors, motion sensor and leak sensor. pretty much anything that compatible to this bridge.

    • @MsNightBird

      you can "read" limitless nr of sensors. you can control (send out) only 16 devices.
      it works with sonoff RF devices and limited number of other manufacturers, but no rule. Just being lucky with some non-sonoff rf emitter. In my case I was lucky with some light RF controllers, but with my garage opener not.
      Then I flashed bridge with Portisch FW, after which bridge could "read" any RF device.

    How did you managed to flash without even soldering

    • @Leonvolt28
      @Leonvolt28 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just put the pins inside the holes in the board, hold down the reset switch and plug the FTDI adapter into your computer.
      I've flahsed all of my sonoff switches without even touching a soldering iron. I'm using clothespins to keep the jumper wires for 3,3 volt and ground in place. And I'm using my hands to hold down RX and TX during the flashing process.

  • @thromboid

    I recommend the Portisch RF firmware upgrade - much more responsive and flexible.

      I was told to be cautious when dealing with circuit boards this compact because of heat transferred to other components.

    • @kaib9203

      I think Jose Luis Mendez makes a valid point here. There are a few important points left out in the tutorial and the video takes it for granted that the typical audience of this video has an Arduino IDE installed, that they know how to set it up, know where to download the correct software for Tasmota and so on. It is for advanced users who have flashed a Sonoff to Tasmota before. I cannot imagine it can be learned in a few hours as Quanchy Plimp says.
      To get back to your question: I have no clue where you can buy one already flashed. But if you send me one, I will flash it for you. Nevertheless, later on you have to configure the Sonoff-Tasmota yourself.
