Jesus has done so much for me in this department. I really don't care what arguments people have.... but the spiritual warfare is real and I personally am so grateful to Jesus for peace. This video was also very good

@BtsForlife-u7c 1) you must know that these thoughts are not from you. As hard as it may be at first, when those evil thoughts come just let them go. Let them wash over you. Even be thankful to God that the thought was troubling to you because that's how you know that the real you would NEVER think something so bad. 2) know that God knows you have this struggle. Take courage that He is not mad at you. In fact we most likely have this struggle to keep us close to God. He wants to be the source of our peace and our friend. Stay close to Him even when you want to hide and He will bless you and open doors for you and you'll see He loves you and knows that those thoughts are not yours. It's warfare. But be encouraged my friend. YOU are a STRONG soldier in Christ. Be encouraged

this was so unbelievable helpful! i grew up in a religion where they placed a lot of power on thoughts and would constantly emphasise us having "pure thoughts" and i'm now trying to recover and function like a normal human being

Same here. Especially in Sikh religion. There is a huge obsession with cleanliness. Before entering temple being clean n bathed, no drink or drugs. But I find it unhygienic that u have to take ur shoes of in the prayer hall. Also having to put money in front of holy book which money is dirty as its root of all evil. When I was little the sexual OCD thoughts wud get too much n upsetting that I wud try to avoid going regularly.

I used to have intrusive thoughts and OCD, but God completely healed me, give your life to him today and he can break of every lie
Edit: I am really sorry I made this comment. While religion has helped me, it may not work for everyone. If you need help with your OCD you should talk to a therapist. As someone who has recovered from OCD I would recommend that you fight the thoughts. If they tell you that something bad will happen if you do a certain thing, do it anyway. I know it is not easy, but once you start fighting these lies, it gets easier to go against them.

When I get awful intrusive thoughts that alarm or upset me I start saying a list of affirmations and it helps..even if somehow the intrusive thought continues in the background, I just go on repeating " I am loved and I am worthy, I am safe and I am free, I am powerfully protected, I am master of my body and ruler of my mind!"

Me too. Before becoming a dad it was easier to cope with intrusive thought even though it was damn hard but with kids the intrusive thoughts are about them and it is so hard to ignore them. I know only way to beat it is by leaving it along but I just can't because it's my kids.

You were explaining this very well. And I might be working with you again sometime. But here’s my question: over and over again Therapist reject the notion of any kind of reassurance. I mean they are adamant about not reassuring you in anyway during ERP, after ERP, during CBT, anytime. Now with all respect, you tell me what you just said about intrusive thoughts having no meaning whatsoever and thoughts not being actions is not reassuring. It is my experience and belief that we need to give some level of reassurance to the patient. The trick is to limit the amount of reassurance and how the reassurance is presented. In this video you presented it in an educational way. I believe and have experienced it educating - reassurance, if you will, is absolutely essential you know OCD recovery.

what if i causes severe anxiety? mine is about my grandparents someday passing. they're still alive but when i get those thoughts, it shakes me to the core. and i do understand that death is a natural part of life and that we all have to go someday... but idk, it seriously bothers me to the point that i sometimes end up crying. reminds of Yoda's "Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose" but it proving to be immensely difficult

There are "negative thoughts" so that we can also express "negative things" in our world. how else would you express these? (We also express "positive things" with "positive thoughts") The point is that you have to deal with them in the right place, so there is no way to stop them. You can disable these, it works by saying: "I have nothing to do with this because:.....(reasons)"

How a person can understand that those intrusive thoughts are actually not real? They look to the sufferers so real. How they tell their brain that those semi memories are actually created by their imagination?

That will be to much for me to purposely think nasty thoughts, for my ocd intrusive thoughts to lose lose thier power it would be to much for me to purposely think of sick thoughts. I can understand excepting my intrusive thoughts but not going out of my way to think of nasty thoughts on purpose.
