    I really enjoy these night rides looking up at the evening sky. Only thing is I'm so spoiled by these perspectives that riding these trains from a passenger seat will be less than spectacular. Still, this is AMAZING and thank you once again for another masterpiece, WTAE! 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    I’d like to suggest a few suggestions :)
    1). When you complete all the routes, try to film some routes while they are rerouted. (For example Lexington ave via 7th ave)
    2). Rear view of routes of trains :)
    3). Film them while they are doing express service if they have it. (For example the D in the rush hour express)
    4). Film them during different times (For example during different seasons)
    5). Try to record routes already done with different trains. (For example R46 and R179 A.)
    P.S. Hoping to see a R211 front view soon!
    As always, I would like to thank both the MTA crew and the WTAE crew! ❤

    Part 2 of ze train extension (7)
    Would leave Spring Street in the same tunnel, and straight travels for a while. So no slow speeds and tight curves.
    Next stop at North Moore Street, accessible, side platform, ordinary design, connection to the M20, SIM7, SIM9, and SIM33.
    Would leave that station in a different tunnel, since a major curve is actually coming up, so more signals and track switches occur.
    Going along West St.
    Slow speeds, because the 7 is going right under (next to) the Freedom Tower, AKA One World Trade Center. Track switches, signals, you name it. The 7 would go deeper underground, and the two tracks would come together again, as they were separated for the tiny curve needed for World Trade Center.
    Next stop at Barclay Street, island platform, accessible, cool designs resembling One World Trade Center, and connection to the M20, M22, SIM7, SIM9, and SIM33. Connection is also available to the PATH train at World Trade Center, the 1 at WTC Cortlandt, the E at World Trade Center, The R and W at Cortlandt Street, and the 4 and 5 at Fulton Street.
    The 7 would leave that stop in a more tunnel, since it has partially passed WTC.
    Still many signals and tracks, but that ends quick after the 7’s next stop.
    Next station: Liberty Street. Side platform, modern artistic design, accessible, and connection to the M9, M20, SIM7, SIM9, SIM33. Connection is also available to the PATH at World Trade Center, the 1 at WTC Cortlandt, the R and W at Cortlandt Street, the 4 and 5 at Fulton Street, and further connection to the 4 and 5 at Wall Street.
    Faster tunnel afterwards, but a big turn is coming. West St takes a turn and merges into Battery Plaza, so does the 7.
    Stops at Battery Plaza, side platform, accessible, ordinary art and design, pretty deep underground, and connection to the… oh boy. That’s alot… M20, BM1, BM2, BM3, BM4, SIM32, SIM34, X27, X28, SIM5, SIM35, 120, SIM1, SIM1C, SIM3C, SIM4, SIM4C, BxM18, SIM33C, SIM15, QM7, QM8, QM11, QM25, and M55. Connection is also available to the 4 and 5 at Bowling Green, and the R and W at Whitehall Street - South Ferry. Further connection to the M15 SBS. Forgive me if I repeated some connections, there were alot
    Would leave that monster of a station is a slightly slower tunnel, with lights signals… basically the same thing. Going along Battery Plaza. Would make a curve to go along State Street, then making a stop at the end of the street.
    State Street, side platform, accessible, ordinary design, connection to the M20 and M55, M15 SBS, all the connections stated before at Battery Plaza, the 1 at South Ferry, the R and W at Whitehall, and all those buses…
    The 7 would change tunnels, it would now be circular, and would look most like the tunnel the E and M go on to cross from Queens to Manhattan. Real fast speeds, and two tracks. Would eventually enter Governor’s Island, and make its last stop at…
    Governor’s Island - Division Road. Island platform, artistic design, accessible, and connection to the ferry at Yankee Pier.
    Took me a while to do this… announcements soon

    20:37 wonder what the cbtc system was doing there lol. Incase anyone was wondering, the lights are flashing green because this entire line has communications based train control. (Something along those lines) where the operator isn’t actually controlling the trains speed, only the doors. I think please correct me if I’m wrong

    • @videonut1988
      @videonut1988 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The conductor (in the cabs in one of the middle cars) opens the doors. The operator does NOT open the doors.

      Thanks for sharing this. Like someone else mentioned, the conductor is the person responsible for the door operation. As for the speed of the train, while under cbtc the signaling system has ‘control’ of the soeed, whether ATO mode is in effect or not.

    Excellent work on this video Welcome To An Experience! Sometimes when I ride the 7 train to and from the New York Mets game, I would hear Awkwafina announce every station! And some of her quotes are very helpful! Like at both 74th Street-Broadway and Queensboro Plaza, as the train is pulling into the station she says: "Please put your headphones in when you're listening to music or playing your video games! Even if your playlist is straight fire! Transfer is available to the E, F, M, And R trains! Transfer is available to the Q47 and the LaGuardia link Q70 select bus service to LaGuardia Airport! 7 train extension from hudson yards… have to redo this cuz my youtube restarted when I was commenting😭😭☹️😣
    The 7 would leave Hudson Yards in the same type of tunnel it left it in, and there would be real fast speeds, and CBTC would be active.
    Some track changes, but ultimately to make sure the two tracks rejoice.
    Would go along 11th Avenue.
    First stop at 11th Ave - West 26th Street. Accessible, artistic design, island platform, connection to the M12 and M23 SBS.
    Would leave that station in a tunnel most similar to the Lexington Ave one, just with two tracks.
    The 7 has to make a curve to go along Lincoln Highway now, because 11th Avenue merged with it.
    Next stop at West 18 Street, which would be the name, but the actual name would probably just be Lincoln Hwy - W 18 St. Accessible, ordinary design, side platform, connection to the M11, M12, and M14D SBS.
    Leave the station in a different tunnel, with the Main Street bound tracks would go over the south bound tracks.
    Keep going along Lincoln Highway.
    Next stop at 10th Ave - West Street. Since 10th Avenue merged with Lincoln and Lincoln then became West Street, the 7 is now going along West St. (complicated, I know.) Accessible, side platform with tracks in different spots, ordinary design, no connection surprisingly.
    Would leave in the same type of tunnel. Keep going on West St.
    Next station at Christopher Street, accessible, side platform, modernist design, and connection to the PATH, and M8.
    The two tracks would come together again, just like a romantic couple… they lived happily ever after
    West St…
    Next stop at Spring Street, accessible, ordinary design, island platform, connection to the M21, SIM7, and SIM9.
    Outta time, I’ll do Part 2 soon today.
    Buh - Bye!

      The 7 is one of the lines that is set up to use CBTC (Communications Based Train Control), basically a technology that allows the trains to run closer together and more efficient. Feel free to read up more on it.
      Basically the flashing green lights are the CBTC version of the solid green light that you’re used to seeing. It lets the operator know that the line has CBTC.
      I forget exactly when CBTC went in on the 7, but only a handful of lines have them right now. The Queens Blvd Line, flushing (7) line, and I think the L/Canarsie line.
      Someone else can chime in with more details I’m sure. 🙂

    There is something very 1950s-ish about the 7 line as it runs though Flushing, Corona and Jackson Heights. The trains rumble by countless apartment buildings, the windows in each one lit up by so many different people. As you pass by the buildings, you wonder - who are these people? What is happening in their lives? Taking care of children, taking care of elderly, working a few jobs? This is a taste of what the Third Avenue El was like in the ‘50s. An ancient train line passing through so many people’s lives.

    First, I really do enjoy these POV videos. Please keep up the great work!! Second, I've been on the 7 line plenty of times and have seen other vids of the 7 into Manhattan. My question is this, who or what is operating the train? This had to be the slowest ride ever for a 7 train. If it was the train operator, why so slow into stations? Why so slow at the curves that for years when I took the train it seemed to be OK to go the normal speed limit. What was it so fragile on the trains to be going slow? And after Queensboro Plaza, even though it is signed 15 MPH, it sure seemed like we were going half that speed. If it was the OPTO, then who designed the 7 to move that slow? There were no trains ahead of it, yet 44 minutes into the City seems a long time for the 7.
    Again, these videos are amazing!!!! Please keep it going!

    • @wtaenyc
      @wtaenyc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the kind words. As it relates to the speed/length of the trip, this is something we aren’t quite sure of, as the CBTC system was in use. It’s unfortunate that the trip wasn’t to your liking speed wise, and being that we are unable to give you a definite answer without being hypocritical, we will be thankful to the operator for their service and for the safe ride either way; we imagine you can join us in saying the same 🫡🫶

    if the G gets R211's from the 1st option order another possibility would have 5-car R160's from the G reconfigured into 10-car Trains for the (A) instead of the (B) so that the (B) can be fully R211 alongside the (D). If the (G) was reassigned to Jamaica yard then the (G) would use 8 car R160's along with some R211's and R160's from the (G) will be displaced to the (A) to push the 10-car R179's to the (C)
    However if the (G) was assigned to ENY yard then the (G) would use 8-car R179's or if the (G) was reassigned to Coney Island Yard then the (G) would use 10-car R160's

    Recently I've learned that The main goal is for the IND to be 100% NTT and Broadway N Q W will be the only lines to get 100% SMEE's
    The Base order of R211's will go to the A/C to increase capacity and speed up service
    option order 1 is for (5-car sets) which will get split between Coney Island Yard and Concourse to run on the B/D
    Option order 2 is for (4-car sets) which will go to Jamaica Yard to Run on the (G) since the G doesn't run on Queens Boulevard and the G will retain it's R160's since the G is unlikely go to back to their SMEE units anytime soon Plus ENY yard (J/Z/L/M) doesn't need R211's since ENY Yard has plenty of enough cars
    I've come up with a new prediction on where the R211's will go
    It seems as though Jamaica will not get any R211's due to low capacity compared to the R160's Queens Boulevard (E/F/M/R) needs trains with the highest capacity so Jamaica Yard (E/F/G/R) will retain it's R160's
    The A/B/C/D will definitely use R211's there's no doubt in my mind about that Since The A/C needs R211's to increase capacity and speed up service also 8th avenue line will get CBTC soon so the A and C needs NTT's. The A and C will also continue using their R179's. The B and D meanwhile will get Fully R211's for 6th avenue CBTC since 6th avenue is extremely overcrowded Meanwhile R68's from Concourse will have their R68's sent over to the N Q W, While R68A's sent over to the Q.
    Meanwhile the G will retain it's R160's and will have its cars extended from 5 to 8 cars. From my understanding since the Second option order is for (4-car sets) the 32 R211 (4-car sets) will go to the G Since the G is unlikely to go back running SMEE's again anytime soon considering how Culver is expected to get CBTC after Queens Boulevard
    The J/Z, L and M will likely continue running with their current rolling stock assignments. I think the 8-car R211's are only meant for the C and I Don't think the MTA has any plans to extend it to 10-car trains anytime soon.
    Final predictions
    A/C: R179's and R211's

      In the 2030's 780 R268's will come replace R68/A's currently on the N Q W and Franklin Aveune Shuttle
      In the 2040's the MTA might order R268A's to Replace R143's and R160's Currently on The E/F/M/R J/Z/L during that time I will predict that the R340/A's will come to Replace R142/A's currently on the 2/4/5 lines let's see what happens to the subway system in 20 years

    Is it just me or did it seem like the motorman was a bit timid? Didnt really open up that throttle too much. Just seemed like he was going slow and come into the stations super slow. Could just be just me though 🤷🏾‍♂️

      Great observation. We will agree that the speed of the train in this video did cause some concerns. We are unsure if it had anything to do with the CBTC system at the time but either way, we hope that you were still able to enjoy the views that the video did produce. Respect for sharing and we look forward to continuing to earn your support. 🫶🫡

    Hi. Quick question. You don't need to answer this but I was wondering how you get the front view? Are you like a conductor and you put a go-pro on the front door of the conductors booth? Or are you just someone who rides in the front car and zooms in?

    @CR1Creative ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the 20 R211T's test trains were successful and the MTA might order more R211T's the R211T's would go to Queens Boulevard Since Queens Boulevard has a high ridership
    20 R211T's in 10-car sets will go to the E & F
    4 R211T's in 8-car sets will be used on the M
    Now there would be 385 R211's and 28 R211's in (4-car sets)
    385 R211's would go to Jamaica Yard on the E, F and R while 28 R211's in (4-car sets) will be used on the G
    20 out of 405 from option order 2 will be 20 R211T's in 10-car sets
    4 out of 32 (4-car sets) from option order 2 will be 4 R211T's in (8-car sets)
    Since Queens Boulevard has a high Ridership it makes sense that the 4 R211T's in (8-car sets) would go to the M
    Edit: since 20 R211T test trains are for 8th avenue line and if the MTA orders more R211T's since the R211T's are for lines with the highest ridership Queens Boulevard would get 24 R211T's in total
    20 R211T's in 10-car sets for the E & F
    4 R211T's in 8-car sets for the M
    While 385 R211's from Option order 2 will be for Jamaica Yard
    Also for this I had to the Math which it was quite tricky but I still managed to make this prediction if the MTA ordered more R211T's
    Open Gangway R211T's can help increase capacity on Queens Boulevard while Some R160's will be moved out of Jamaica Yard to Concourse and Coney Island Yards to run on the B and D along with some R211's while Jamaica Yard keeps its R160's

    • @wtaenyc
      @wtaenyc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting opinion as it relates to that train and its potential relationship with the Queen Boulevard. As the Queens corridor continues to improve its CBTC system, we can imagine that all that you stated may very well be possible. Should they decide to do things this way, it would be fun to see those newer trains servicing the Queens area and the 8th avenue area as well; what an upgrade it will be as the R46's & R68's slowly exit our system. Thanks for sharing again and we look forward to seeing what is done.

    The tunnels in Manhattan seem newer on the 7 line than the 4 train in Manhattan. When did this first go to 34th and Hudson Yards?

    • @shane6289
      @shane6289 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The section between Times Square and 34th Hudson Yards is one of the newest sections of tunnels in the system. Another one is the 2nd Avenue subway line that you can see towards the end of their Q train to 96th street video.
      The Hudson Yards/34 street station officially opened in September of 2015. Not sure exactly when the tunnels were built, but I imagine some time a little bit earlier than that.
