Montreal is more than 400 years old and was the capital of Canada. On April , 25th 1848 , some elected anglophones riot burnt down the Canadian Parliement building in Montreal ( what happen in USA on Jan 6th already happened in Canada . So the Queen, moved the capital to Toronto and then to Ottawa . So when you are in Montreal or Quebec city , you are in the real historical cities of Canada in both official languages of Canada . When i visit Toronto , Vancouver or any other cities in Canada , for me these cities are like being in USA , same architecture, same language , same food and culture.
