I list locally & nationwide on FB. I have also sold to (and bought from) The RC Chop Shop. Probably my craziest RC deal was when I cross country traded (no $ exchanged) two built SCX24s for my TRX4 Bronco. After I had shipped mine there was no contact from the guy for about a week. Turns out he'd had the Bronco in his truck ready to ship after work...but had a heart attack at work and was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully he survived and shipped my Bronco after he got out of the hospital. That's the story I got anyways.
Get ready before you know it Proline By The Fire 24 will be here. 🙌 I’ve really slowed down on buying RTR crawlers I’ve been spending time upgrading, updating & rebuilding some of the rigs I already I’ve been having fun especially when you see your rigs performing better. I sense it’s kind of quiet because a lot of people are getting their stuff ready for PLBTF 24 for sure.
It’s not a crazy RC purchase story, but one heck of a deal. I bought an Element Knightrunner from a guy in the Michigan RC Crawlers FB group for $350. He had put one battery through it and it had over $700 in parts on it. A Castle mamba 2300kV motor, Copperhead ESC, Protek metal case servo, a protek 3s LiHV LiPo, and a Spektrum DX5C radio with receiver.
I've bought about half my used trucks off of Ebay, the rest have been luck of the draw used buys, worst buying experience was trying to buy a old XR10 from an ebay seller theat then claim I was a fake account even though ebay confirmed me an my account, so I boughta different one after that
When I'm ready to sell an RC, I usually strip it down, clean and grease everything, replace any rusty screws and give the plastics a shot of WD-40 to freshen the looks. I typically post up in a few facebook groups, FB marketplace and offerup. I've had decent success. Offerup actually saved me a ton of money this weekend. Found about $500 worth of motorcycle parts I needed for $100.
Kinda funny it came up here. I was just browsing marketplace and saw a nearly new 6s Infraction with 2 sets of batteries just listed for $300. I've never bought used and only sold once. I always worry it's a scam when i find a really good deal or it'll be something i already have. If i didn't already have 2 Infractions I'd definitely find out if that one was legit or not. I'm a RC hoarder. Only truck I've disliked enough to sell was my DBXLE. It wasn't a horrible rig but i couldn't find a reason or way to drive it appropriately.
So flip that truck might be coming back Josh? We all know that you don't like any questions. I've been asking all year if you were going to bring back flip that truck option on your website.
I wish flip that truck did better, it's one I always consider as an option. I just need to reformat it in a different way I think. Or maybe I use my own collection in an effort to be able to purchase the vehicle I'm really looking to get (Corvette).
Wait...people actually sell their RC stuff?!? Anyways, I almost exclusively only deal locally listed on FB Marketplace or Offerup for whole vehicles. This because I want to see the rig first hand and not pay for shipping. I also prefer the buy sees and runs the rig I'm selling and then I don't have to deal with shipping. I live in a large metropolitan area so I have a fair number of other RC Hobbyists within easy driving, but I can see how those in more rural areas don't have much of a choice. On parts I can be more flexible with buying online having it shipped, as generally not as much money on the line and I am usually looking for like new stock "take off" parts.
I try and sell my RC stuff local. That being said it’s still a pain! Soooo many time wasters that message you asking all kinds of questions then just ghost you!
La peh-RRRAh Loca, gotta roll those R's😂 but got to give you props for trying! Thanks for another great SNU! and to answer your question; we have a local club fb marketplace we put our rc stuff to sell
Whenever I am ready to part with a rig, I usually post to IG and my local RC group. If I was more active on SBG, I’d post there as well. I need to get more active on the forums. That’s where all the good stuff lives.
I only buy locally on fb marketplace. Luckily, locally to me means the entire lower 48, because I'm a trucker. So everytime I have some down time and extra cash, I set my fb marketplace to wherever I'm at. Today I'm on the south side of Chicago. Will be heading out west next
I try to sell locally but it rarely works out. RCC use to be my go to before I dive back into the mess of FB. That is the go-to for selling or buying really anymore
Normally will sell my used RC’s and parts through my LHS. He charges a percentage of the sale and everyone is happy. I will purchase used but it has to be an item I cannot find new. It seems by the time you pay an asking price, shipping when needed and sales tax (ebay) your close or over new price.
I buy secondhand. However, it takes me forever to buy second hand. I negotiate until nothing remains. There are many that don't know the first thing about negotiating. I am not talking about being a schister, I am talking about Business negotiations. Usually you are able to tell when you are dealing with a young person, in that case, I will take it easy on them or not buy their product. However, driving a bargain is a good thing, it is good for both the seller and the buyer. As long as both people walk away feeling like they came out ahead, that is Okay with me. However, I have been taken, all I will say, "What Comes Around, Goes around"!
I'm a little late here this week... 👉 Buying/Selling? I've sold 2 on FBMP and Bought 2 the same way... I'm a Net Hobby Shop Buyer Amain, Horizon, Amazon and Locally Hobbytown Knoxville or Johnson City Tennessee, although I have dealt with Whitepine Hobby which is selling out and closing shop for personal reasons... As far as getting anything else in my Hobby Room I'm perfectly fine with the 40+ that I have and plan to upgrade as needed when needed but not just to do it.... There are those of us that are budgeting at every step of the Hobby but doesn't mean I don't window shop and drool as New Model's are releasing or watching some Amazing Modeling on TH-cam (yep even your Channel Josh hehe😊) ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing =Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 👍😎👍 AOAH =Association of Addicted Hobbiest 🙏 SSPH =Stay Safe and Play Healthy 🌟 Blessings from the Great Smoky Mountains East Tennessee
Use to sell at the hobby store, but you onliners shut all those down, so I haven't sold an RC or bought a used one in 5 years. My collection is huge at the moment, but until I find a new venue to sell through I can just keep em. I've got plenty of shelve space and a pretty good size loft in the shop. Be well all
I have literally kept everything I've ever owned....LOL (I sold my stuff once when we moved from a house to an apartment... but never again... we're in a house again..LOL)
I'm way too paranoid of the burn, scammers are everywhere, and FB marketplace is like waving a flag "hey scammer over here, I might be a sucker", Local sales only, and even that can be sketchy AF. Swap meets would be ideal, but they are few and far between where I am.
Buying used RC cars is something I actually love. And was actually how I first got into the hobby when my parents bought me a used Blackfoot Xtreme. Selling on the other hand is a different story and a good argument of why Social Media shouldn't be a free and open concept. Between fake accounts, people as humans being demanding and hard to deal with, and absolutely no safety nets beyond that flimsy connection, not to mention nearly everyone having stories about getting a little dirty to get a deal done, I think the community should start moving away from using social media. Maybe taking a page from the model train community (Which is another world that has no business using social media to make money) and start making RC trade shows and swap meets have a more prominent place to buy and sell. Buying and selling RC cars in person is honestly where I have gotten my best deals and had the best experiences. That part should be emphasized more. Ebay used to be the best place until A: It became a favorite of scalpers, "Collectors" who drive prices up, and they started tacking on lots of extra fees and dirt slow shipping.
Are you going to post the video of the furitek h10 optic cage on this channel or the bonus channel. Also I saw rc speedys cage for the h10 and I’d rather pay the $200 to have a cage actually welded.
I will buy on marketplace, but selling is a nightmare. I haven't posted anything on Facebook proper in 4 years, so i assume because im not habitually online, anything i try to sell doesn't get viewed. Adding the "boost your listing" feature Made it strictly pay to play for sellers. I refuse to pay for something that irritates me to use. They take the time to remove people who have controversial ideas, bur can't remove bots and scammers.
I HAAATTTEEEE trying to sell anything. RC or otherwise! People always come at you with some insanely far off initial offer, other people are just “tire kickers” and waste your time asking stupid questions that are answered in the for sale ad then end up ghosting you, then you have shipping and payment issues…. Shipping cost kills you or turns the buyer away and then PayPal or eBay take their cut of the payment or if you use some other method you’re opening yourself to getting screwed. It just isn’t worth the hassle to get rid of stuff most of the time unless you can do it in person. And for the same reasons, that’s why I usually buy new stuff and avoid used. Hardly anything used works out to be a good deal as it arrives in worse shape than told/ expected and you end up spending just as much fixing it up and modifying it like you like it as you’d spend on a new rig anyway.
Fyi the fcx24 k5 sits on the 24scale chassis but shes a short wheelbase 18scale body. Kind of got it right...can some1 please remind me of what scale means?😅
I really wish Knight Customs would make an H10 interior with at least full face helmets. Ideally with a female driver, but I doubt that's going to happen since there are 4 girls on the planet into RC. I usually try to sell local, but that rarely happens, so I'm forced to use ebay, which sucks, a lot. Their fees and policies make deals substantially worse, and there's nothing stopping a buyer from saying it was a box of bricks, so they get a thousand dollar truck and their money back.
It seems that the majority of used RC items listed on Kijiji in Canada are WAY overpriced. In most cases people ask the same price, or higher than full retail on a used RC. There is the rare occasion where there is a good deal to be had but for the most part, people are expecting way too much value from their used stuff.
I am a rc pack rat! I didn’t have the hobby as a kid. What i have now i worked every bit for. Im all in on each one! Nothings for sale!
I’ve sold a few RC’s on EBay. Really hard to let things go though.
New site, who dns was absolutely
*kisses fingertips*
Perfetto!
That joke was for a select few! Most people would think it's a typo!
I enjoy the WPL stuff, I build the metal kit versions.
I too would rathar the fms blazer had been bigger. I like my scx24s but i cannot work on em as good anymore 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘☕️🤘
I gave up trying to sell RCs online years ago because there are just too many scammers and con artists.
I have bought many used rcs on Craigslist never had a bad experience and got some great deals
Nice question. I am trying to sell, without experience, right now. Reading the replies is quite helpful.

I think I spent last Saturday at a swap meet, in MI, right next to that guy.
The ring reference is from my favorite movie, superman. Lol
Praise the wheel! But don't forget she smells fear... 😂
I have sold little to nothing of my own RC's over the years, I usually hoard and recycle parts, or grind everything onto dust....
And animated Han Solo and Chewbacca or Cheech and Chong would be awesome!
I've bought about half my used trucks off of Ebay, the rest have been luck of the draw used buys, worst buying experience was trying to buy a old XR10 from an ebay seller theat then claim I was a fake account even though ebay confirmed me an my account, so I boughta different one after that

I bout used RC’s on line and they turned out to really bad choices
So I don’t have a good online group to sell to so far I keep them all
"My other car is a toy". seems more appropriate
I think some people may take that wrong...
Kinda funny it came up here. I was just browsing marketplace and saw a nearly new 6s Infraction with 2 sets of batteries just listed for $300. I've never bought used and only sold once. Sell consignment at lhs seems to work for ne, it's a win for everyone..!
Keep up the great work Buddy!
Great Question Josh- It depends on the RC, But I have sold some on eBay and Local Hobby shop swap meets.
La peh-RRRAh Loca, gotta roll those R's😂 but got to give you props for trying! Thanks for another great SNU! and to answer your question; we have a local club fb marketplace we put our rc stuff to sell
I dont trust people to buy second hand online
lol ill just print the gumby family, no helmets needed. of course with sound system
It surprised you don’t know the ring quote.
With Al the RC work no time for movies!!!
Finally a skoda fabia rally2 body ❤
Not knowing where "one ring to rule them all " comes from, and worse, saying it's from a super hero movie.unsubscribing now
Hahahaha!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Isn’t Bilbo a super hero 😊
NERD ALERT......!
Jk jk I frickin love Tolkien
I have filed a complaint with the authorities
Really need a license plate cover; I’m holding out for the Harley Designs Praise Wheel cover myself.

After shapeways closed its doors, where do you buy now? Is there a similar platform? I wanted some parts for the proline rock van.
I only buy locally on fb marketplace. Luckily, locally to me means the entire lower 48, because I'm a trucker. So everytime I have some down time and extra cash, I set my fb marketplace to wherever I'm at. Today I'm on the south side of Chicago. Will be heading out west next
I normally give them away because I enjoy the hobby ❤
Lol. Nice try with the super hero movie save attempt there Frodo. 😂😂😂 💯🤓
Does FMS brushless motor in the FCX K5 will fit the fcx24m easily?
Skoda is just a VW.

Be well all
The scary part of buying printed parts from someone else is that the parts won’t be a decent print or you pay that person and never receive the parts.
Rarely sell old stuff but typically use ebay when I do.
I advertise on a lot of local Facebook groups and on marketplace. I don't ship. I don't accept PayPal for sales but I do use it to buy.
I have literally kept everything I've ever owned....LOL (I sold my stuff once when we moved from a house to an apartment... but never again... we're in a house again..LOL)
I usually sell on market place.
I've bought new and sometimes from friends.
Every time I try to sell some of my more "built" RCs, I get lowballed to the point of just keeping them and eventually they get a shelf spot lol
Only sell on market place or trade. I definitely buy on market place. Very rarely buy something new, unless its a kit. I love buying new kits
I'm way too paranoid of the burn, scammers are everywhere, and FB marketplace is like waving a flag "hey scammer over here, I might be a sucker", Local sales only, and even that can be sketchy AF. Swap meets would be ideal, but they are few and far between where I am.

Mainly buy I don’t mind used.

Ive sold on ebay. Ive bought and sold in FB groups, bought and sold in marketplace. Cash or paypal.

I HAAATTTEEEE trying to sell anything. RC or otherwise!

LOTR - One Ring to Rule them ALL
"One ring to rule them all"? Cornhub, right?
All of my used buys have been through my local hobby shop. If their is any part or rig i dont or need it give it away.
Always sell to the rc chop shop so I don’t have to deal with people on Facebook wanting shit for free
fms fcx 24 models are actually 1/18 scale
So far I have used FB market place and the local hobby shop for a commission.
Will Vanquish ever sell the origin again? In clear? I want one so bad!
Nope, it’s long been discontinued.
Praise be Wheel👍🤠👍
I try to sell local but the market is dry.
Heyyyyyy, what’s wrong with titanium license plate bolts?! 😂
One with the wheel huh? You dont sound convinced!!! 😂
I really wish Knight Customs would make an H10 interior with at least full face helmets. Ideally with a female driver, but I doubt that's going to happen since there are 4 girls on the planet into RC.

💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
What if you don't have a 3d printer???
I sell on eBay and gripe about the fees lmao 😂
Wait, you guys sell stuff? I generally buy new. People don't take care of their junk. If I do buy used it's usually from someone I know pretty well.
Wait, sell stuff, like my Rc stuff. No thanks.
I never sell anything. I may have a problem.
I'm going to sell off my rc problems happen and I'll try to sell local so I don't have to ship .

Bro? The Hobbit for starters. But take 6 months off and read Lord of the Rings. Or watch the movies. Same time frame. 😅
I've never seen any of the LOTR movies :) I really thought I was saying something from the movie with all the super heros in it!
does he mean the camper shell?
Did you see where scalerfab got new ownership
And hopefully you get swap trucks first 😂😂😂😂
And I don't sell a dang thing!
Selling I list on local groups and marketplace
Utb18's wheel base is ~1.5" too long for the Jimny 😂 what is scale anyways?!
Maybe I can put it on La Perra Loca....
real jimny buggy would be stretched anyway, UTB18 was swapped under C74 many times and it suits it well
I prefer to sell my shit to friends or other folks in the local RC community. That way I still get to see my shit even after it's no longer my shit.
PRAISE BE TO WHEEL
I avoid it unless its local. Not worth the hassle if I'm getting rid of a truck its probably garbage.
I always try to sell to the local RC communities, mostly WhatsApp groups. Then marketplace, but it is a minefield of scammers.
Have u seen furiteks new titanium cage for the optic
Yeah we discussed it last week. I've got one on the way as well.

Superhero movies!!! How dare you....
I sell local only, fb marketplace, f2f only. I figure out a price and post that price as firm. Any offers under that get a no thanks.
Lord Of The Rings fans are screaming lol
Is that what its from?! hahah whoops! Thats not considered a super hero movie is it? :)
