This was great. I bought a redcat gen 7 as my first crawler. Because I didn't want to spend the money just to have to upgrade a more expensive truck. Ended up piecing together the redcat with aftermarket and axial parts. Ended up being way more capable than alot of other rigs.
Great video. I've been doing this for years with 1/10th vehicles. Research what breaks and needs upgrading. Then make it better. Just finished an Arrma Kraton V5 6S. Built it from the ground up. It's better than the newer EXB version for about 200.00 less. 8S capable but run it on 6S. Stupid fast and stays cool. Love it. My son did the same with the Traxxas Maxx. Running it on 6S. We're both deciding on a 1/5th scale. The Dumbo RC's are no joke. I listened to Kevin's advice and have several. Pratice is key. You need to learn in air throttle control. Increase the throttle to bring the front end up or back flip. Hit the brake to bring the front end down or front flip. Try not to land on full throttle. That strips and destroys stuff. Only one way to figure that out. Practice. And more parts. Good luck and have fun. lol.
You control the vehicle while jumping with throttle and brake. You are letting off the throttle causing it to nose dive. Pull the throttle to make the front end come up.......practice, practice, practice. Nice build!
Congrats for getting 1st with new crawler. Awesome work. Keep it up. I have the 1st gen maxx and it's fun and I break something bout each time I take it out. But it's still fun. Keep coming with new ideas
I built my E revo piece by piece. Wife took my new car budget away so I ordered a piece every pay and in around a years time, it was done. I actually enjoyed building it and found it extremely satisfying when I finished it up. I also have had an Xmaxx since it came out. I could not recommend metal arms. I beat the crap out of mine and would rather replace the arm over ripping it out of the chassis.
15:42 they are called bulkhead tie bars. Also it looks like you’re missing part #7716. It goes under skid plate and holds those in. They shouldn’t be loose.
ill send u a traxxas factory 1/5th scale servo if you pay the shipping. when i bought my maxx used it had an upgraded servo (think its also a traxxas). zip is 48706. keep up the great vids!
“Series” multiples voltage which you have there red to black. Parallel keeps same voltage red to red black to black. Keeps same Voltage as if there is one battery but multiples amperage or what most know “Mah” milliamp hours. Your diesel trucks dual batteries are in parallel since Our cars do not want 24v but the diesel engine wants amps for starting.
I running my fast rigs mostly stock only replacing what is really needed. Plastic bends and returns, metal does not and is really expensive. My first RC hpi Blitz got a power upgrade, smacking dents and ate set of CVD's real quick before I hardend the diff output's and new dogbone driveshafts worked great. At some point I got the Losi Super baja Rey, 8S bigger stronger and clocked at 88kmh in a grass field
Congrats. I just picked up another Xmaxx off marketplace for $450. I have 1 already and honestly like my Vigilante much more and really like my 8s Outcast and Kraton EXB's more. I just scrolled by it and figured for $450 it was crazy not to buy it. If you end up enjoying it then you'd love the big Redcat and Arrma rigs.
Make sure its not binding by the hubs had that issue with mine turning & the pin came out so it was binding. Also look into getting the bolts to replace hinge pins to help with these issues
The green arms looks good with the black body, and I agree that Raptor body looks a lot better than the stock one. Ask if one of your buddies has a stronger servo you could try, because to me it sounds like the servo doesn't have to power to overcome the torque steer the driveline has. The stock Xmaxx Ultimate servo puts out 450oz of torque VS the 972oz the servo you have is supposedly pushing. I don't know if the conversion math I found is wrong or what, but I am a little skeptical of a $60 standard size servo pushing almost the same torque a $390 5th scale Reef's Beast 1000.
I always wanted to build an xmaxx this way. If the connectors you used are XT60, that will cause issues. Minimum should be XT90 for the current load this rig will see.
Piece together you a arrma outcast 4s, version 2.5 they call it. Man they are a blast and a good deal cheaper to build. I to built my first basher, it was a arrma 3s big rock. I'm no TRAXXAS hater I've just never built one.
Nice so is it cheaper to build one then buy one I was gonna build a xrt but decided to try the kraton 8s and for that one I priced all the parts except the electronics and drive train and gears and just to build the start of the car was same price as to buy a full one... I thought it would cut some cost cause of doing own labor but for arrma way more money not sure about the traxxas stuff ....
Turbo racing transmitter and receiver are just as good as dunbo, but Amazon charges less for turbo racing... plus i can drive with one hand on turbo racing controller..

Miss my xmaxx regret selling all the time. On 8s doing standing backflips and cyclones were always a blast. Great video as always
Congrats on the 1st place win for the crawler! Nice run with the Xmaxx as well. Cheers

Don’t land on throttle though or you may get some sadness.
This is so cool🎉😊
I've been wanting to this for a while now. Have just been unsure on parts as well. Awesome video as usual. Love what you do brother. Keep on gettin it
Great video man

Very thorough 🤙 Love your content brutha. Keep up the good work 🤙
That's awesome congrats on the xmaxx the 5th scale are massive I just picked up my dream 2 stroke rc 5th scale so have fun and enjoy it
Nice Bro 🏆🚙🏁

NICE BUILD, MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT A FAN ON THE MOTOR

Also what version of max 6 are you running v1 or v2? I may be able to print to a mount for it
Awesome 👌 video
Love the videos!!!! Hey can you make a 1/5 scale or bigger crawler?????
@1:44 - there’s a sandwich in every can! 🤣😆😂

Fast Eddie bearings work good, in your case definitely make sure you use v2 knuckles, the bearing is larger than v1 a fix that they made awhile ago.
I would personally not use them aluminum control arms . You really want that flex there . Also Jenny's Rc is the place for parts . Great video

Jeez. This a real good video!! Thanks!!

Always a nice vid. Congrats!!
Make sure the steering is zeroed out on the remote before you center the servo

Ya I have been reading that and will be changing them once I get the 4s batteries.

Me too, nothing against traxxas, but I would rather have an arrma notorious or outcast.

I don't know if it will work with the bigger models but the flysky gt5 can have multiple models on it and is a 6 channel radio
Turbo racing transmitter and receiver are just as good as dunbo, but Amazon charges less for turbo racing... plus i can drive with one hand on turbo racing controller..
2nd! But who cares! I'm here to watch Mr waffles and his RC wonders.
❤ love racing you guys. I tried to get him to post it to members early so I could cheat. Lol!!!!
why not order some bundles from jennysrc?
The metal arms are a con! When metal bends it stayes bend but when plastic bends it will not stay bend. Plastic flexes
Hopefully you bought hardened gears lol, the stock gears are powdered junk.
Rpm arms will last longer, than all that aluminum, fyi. Just my opinion, I've had v1 8s xmaxx since the preorder.
Either gear mesh is tight or the slipper is screaming for life
Wait, tell you learn to fly it lol
@mr_taco_offroad1526 🎉 I saw your first comment was 6 seconds before mine. Where did it go?? Hope you have a great morning.
