Moved to London 30 years ago, in retrospect I think the year of the Olympics in 2012 was a high point for the city. The combination of lockdowns, brexit and a disastrous Mayor has severely damaged the city without a doubt but probably it will recover in time. Overall I’ve had a great life in this incredible city and current problems aside, I’ve no regrets whatsoever.

Congratulations on 10 years in London, it's clear this has been a journey for you with everything that has happened and now COVID is well behind us, I am pleased you have a successful business. Collaborating with Londoners is a great idea, to get a feel about the cultural side of the City and let outsiders know that Central London is only a small part of this great city. There is tons of stuff to do and explore in different suburbs. It's also a big sporting hub, with several big Premier League teams playing every week of the season. My team Arsenal is touring the US right now, and I am surprised that there are soo many Arsenal fans out there. Doing something in and around the Emirates Stadium on a matchday would be a winner for your American audience who clearly love our sports.
Your videos are great - so honest and providing true insights into life in London. I'm not surprised you still love London and see it as your long-term home. The whole Brexit thing was not good, but London is still a wonderfully diverse, culturally rich city with an amazing mix of history, stunning architecture - both old and new, endless opportunities, events and places to visit, all alongside a buzzing, lively vibe that is both captivating and invigorating. London is without doubt one of the greatest cities in the world.
"The whole Brexit thing was not good" Certainly NOT if you DON'T want to live in a country whose people are FREE to make their OWN laws, determine their OWN immigation and monetary policy, and chuck out their lawmakers when THEY deem it necessary (I believe it's called DEMOCRACY - not everyone's cup of tea, I know, certainly as far as Remainers are concerned). Of course if you PREFER to have YOUR laws decided for you by unelectable and unsackable BUREAUCRATS, fair enough. I still find that rather odd, however - and wonder why our recent ancestors ever BOTHERED to fight in WW2.! Myself - I'm a proud and grateful EUROPEAN, but hate the EU (even with all its 'benefits') - a post-War project of the Anglo-American Elite (with Germany chosen as the Head Boy) whose (Globalist) agenda involves the slow destruction of the sovereign nation state. Sadly, too many folk still believe in the propaganda, whilst being resolutely ignorant of the background facts - even when only a mouse-click away. Oh, and it's not just about MONEY: there are _other_ things in life that matter RATHER more - IMHO: such as Willing Co-operation between neighbours, as opposed to Unquestionable Compulsion from above.
You are an inspiration Jess. I am someone who was born and grew up in this city, but have often taken it for granted. You are doing such a good job of highlighting and advertising our city to the world. So glad your business is going from strength to strength.
London only has a problem with mass tourism in the super touristy areas which is why we are always telling people to AVOID them ! Don't hang around Leicester Square, Camden Market, the London Eye etc and it's much less crowded.

Accents: I have to fight the urge to copy accents both in Swedish and English (my two primary languages). I would agree that it isn't a case of loosing your accent. I try to avoid doing it because people often think you are mocking them but it's about trying to figure out how the dialect works.
You do realise that 70% of people who live in London aren't from London...definitely an American in London...not a bad thing, but Italy might be your bag!!
That takes a lot of guts to make a big change like that and honestly, it seems like it's paying off. Takes time to nature something and let it grow into fruition. I love that tenacity and to be honest, if I was in London, I would love to get a chance to get the tour of London! It's been so long since I visited but I think it's about time to make that trip happen. Might be time to consider transitioning from American Healthcare to the NHS instead. It's actually really interesting to hear you talk about the accent situation while your staying here and how past a certain age it doesn't change. For example I was born here in the u.k but when I was a very young kid we moved to America for about 2 and a half years. Since children pick up accents super fast that's exactly what happened to me and now even as a 29 year old who's back in the u.k I still always get the "you sound like a yank mate." Or "you have a transatlantic accent." To my ear I think I have a perfectly normal British accent but to everyone else they immediately ask whether I recently came from the u.s. As to your views on the monarchy....it's a dated tradition/system that should faid into the history books. Glad your still enjoying the u.k 🙂

My intention is to relocate from California to London because I love the British culture and because I would be closer to my relatives who are all in Europe. I have dual citizenship US and EU. London is not representative of the rest of England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland. The Northern line on a hot sweaty summers day is not much fun. Get out of London more , the North East, the Lake District is much more picturesque, green and pleasant land., beautiful beaches etc.
People always get so triggered by the mere mention of London! Yes, we're aware it's different from the rest of the country (and that's a good thing, in many ways). And we're also aware of other places in the UK.
There is more to the Uk than London,you will find out that the majority of our people might have taken a short visit and never go back again because of the costs.The rest of UK is great and too, much to mention here and is far cheaper.
I hope you've explored the rest of the UK and the rest of Europe and not just stayed in London. You might have had a much nicer place to live outside London.

I moved to London from Australia 20 years ago (with some years in NY in between) I just left a couple of months ago, moved (back into) the EU - once you get out of that place you realise how it eats into your soul - there is great financial opportunity, but it comes at an enormous price. Its a shame that it changed so much in that time.

Jess, I am so proud of you! I remember your videos sharing the transitions you were going through. The pandemics impact on you and the bus and now look at where you and your team are. Bravo 👏🏻 I came to Ldn for the coronation and was so happy to be there then 2 days later caught covid 😅 But I also found myself deeply sympathetic to ordinary Brits and the insane cost of living crisis, wkg folks being made homeless etc and I lost all interest in the Royals (not bc I blamed them but the stark contrast to lives of ordinary people and the insane cost of living increases). I still like them but being there and seeing first hand the struggles, well all I can say is I hope the quality of life and rampant political BS ends soon. I'm hoping to come back in 2024 😊

That's the beauty of it.
I can see pros and cons of that, but that also means there is so much more to experience when you venture away from the city.

It's actually really interesting to hear you talk about the accent situation while your staying here and how past a certain age it doesn't change. For example I was born here in the u.k but when I was a very young kid we moved to America for about 2 and a half years. Since children pick up accents super fast that's exactly what happened to me and now even as a 29 year old who's back in the u.k I still always get the "you sound like a yank mate." Or "you have a transatlantic accent." To my ear I think I have a perfectly normal British accent but to everyone else they immediately ask whether I recently came from the u.s. As to your views on the monarchy....it's a dated tradition/system that should faid into the history books. Glad your still enjoying the u.k 🙂

Thank you for you videos. I am applying for jobs in the UK and having interviews. My intention is to relocate from California to London because I love the British culture and because I would be closer to my relatives who are all in Europe. I have dual citizenship US and EU. I hope the school system will be somehow similar to the one in the US, my daughters are 12 and 19, hopefully they will adapt quickly to the new culture. London is not representative of the rest of England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland. The Northern line on a hot sweaty summers day is not much fun. Get out of London more , the North East, the Lake District is much more picturesque, green and pleasant land., beautiful beaches etc.
People always get so triggered by the mere mention of London! Yes, we're aware it's different from the rest of the country (and that's a good thing, in many ways). And we're also aware of other places in the UK.

There is more to the Uk than London,you will find out that the majority of our people might have taken a short visit and never go back again because of the costs.The rest of UK is great and too, much to mention here and is far cheaper.

I moved to London from Australia 20 years ago (with some years in NY in between)
I just left a couple of months ago, moved (back into) the EU - once you get out of that place you realise how it eats into your soul - there is great financial opportunity, but it comes at an enormous price. Its a shame that it changed so much in that time.
I don't feel that way but appreciate the city is not for everyone.

Jess, I am so proud of you! I remember your videos sharing the transitions you were going through. The pandemics impact on you and the bus and now look at where you and your team are. Bravo 👏🏻 I came to Ldn for the coronation and was so happy to be there then 2 days later caught covid 😅 But I also found myself deeply sympathetic to ordinary Brits and the insane cost of living crisis, wkg folks being made homeless etc and I lost all interest in the Royals (not bc I blamed them but the stark contrast to lives of ordinary people and the insane cost of living increases). I still like them but being there and seeing first hand the struggles, well all I can say is I hope the quality of life and rampant political BS ends soon. I'm hoping to come back in 2024 😊
