I really appreciate your explanation of all this. Especially because I see a lot of riders (some professional) who are all over a horse's mouth ALL the time. To me, it's most likely a rider problem. Horses are smart-train them right, give the proper cues and they are amazing! Thank you for this video!
You are absolutely correct. Some of the worst bitting practices are with mules. What is the matter with these people that think putting a twisted wire or even a bicycle chain in any equine's mouth is a good idea?
I am so happy I found your video I do want to ride my horse in a rope halter because I am new to horse riding and I probably will pull my horse on it’s mouth I do not like bits.
I ride my walker bridleless in the arena and have been using a regular halter in trails. He is doing so well I have a rope halter and will start using it. I also do love the bosal and mecate you had on your black gelding moose?
I wish I had met you or someone with your understanding and horse philosophy years ago. I never intentionally abused a horse but they often paid for my ignorance and listening to the wrong people. This bothers me. I wish I could go back and say "I'm so sorry. Can we start over? I want to be your friend and partner. Not your owner. I want to be a leader that listens and earns your trust. Not your master," These horses were better to me than I deserved.
Eric rides and trains with spurs because it helps the horse not ignore a cue. That said, spurs are never the first cue. If you watch the videos closely you will hear Eric say something like “ I’m putting my leg on, he’s pushing into my leg, now I touched him with the spur, good he’s moved away from pressure. “
Thank you Ed and Eric!🥰
Our pleasure!

It’s a journey:)
Why does the Eric have spurs on?
Eric rides and trains with spurs because it helps the horse not ignore a cue. That said, spurs are never the first cue. Is that a wade saddle?
Yes, Eric’s saddle is a Wade tree saddle.
