  • We've been prepping for, and waiting out, the prospects of Hurricane Dorian here this last week, so a new video wasn't high on priorities.
Here's a look back on the progress Paul made on the BT-15 when it first got set up in our Maintenance Hangar! It's a cool walk-around clip, where Paul explains a little about the plane and what was done up to that point.
We'll be back next week with a fresh new clip. Thanks for bearing with us and understanding.

Thank you Kermit for keeping these wonderful old gals around and so well cared for! I’m from the fifties and remember flying with my dad and seeing these all over! Great airplanes!

Some of my favorite content on YT are the behind-the-scene restoration progress videos. Be it planes, cars, guns, etc. It's always fascinating to see what it takes to get these old machines back in operation. Great job as always Paul! Cheers!

Back in 1946 my father went to Texas and purchased an army surplus BT 13 for $50 bucks. He followed route 66 to fly it to Brackett Field here in southern California where he kept it for many years. It became a big part of my childhood and recall frequently asking him, “Once around the pattern Pop?” Those were some great times.

    Hi Kermit.
A distant cousin of mine was the first female American pilot killed in the line of duty. She was ferrying a BT-13 when she was clipped by another ferry pilot. It would make a wonderful addition to your WAFS/WASP presentation to include the story of Cornelia Fort. She also witnessed the initial attack on Pearl Harbor from the air as she was giving a flying lesson when she was buzzed by Japanese Zeros. I understand that the Interstate Cadet she was flying at the time has recently been located and restored.

Lovely aircraft and so pleased that you have a fine example at Fantasy of Flight, one interesting thing about the colour scheme I notice that the chrome yellow is high gloss and the red markings are semi matt finish this stands out well.
Paul that was a nice walk around and we appreciate your attention to detail on things like that enormous antennae ! the whole aeroplane looks pristine and certainly looking forward to the day that Kermit takes this beauty to the skies again.

after the war it seemed every crop sprayer a a BT-13 or two hiding in the weeds-it was a great up-date "kit" for your Stearman-the higher HP engine and better brakes went right on the Stearman-and for a very low cost

I've worked on a BT13 with the 985 Pratt including adding a smoke kit. That was fun to get approved. I put the tank just behind the back seat and attached it to the structural tubing with 4130 straps. Electrical problems were fun on that old system! Joke joke.
