  • What's the difference between Home Healthcare (Nurses) and Home Care (Caregivers). Find the answer to this question by watching this video, and learn more at bit.ly/34OglRs.
The home healthcare industry is an important and growing market. The elderly population in America (and worldwide) is growing and the number of people who need care will almost triple by the year 2050.
Folks who are entering the industry get confused by the various "sub-segments" on the market and most specifically what's the difference between a home healthcare agency and a home care agency.
The quick answer (more in the video) is as follows:
    - Home Healthcare is a medical business with the primary responsibility of helping people recover from a hospitalization. The primary workers in a home healthcare agency are nurses (RNs, LPN) Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech Therapists (STs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
    - Home Care helps elderly or disabled people live in their own home (rather than a nursing home). Home care is needed when individuals are unable to independently perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) like dressing, grooming, hygiene and nutrition. The workers in home care have different titles including caregiver, home health aide, companion, and homemaker
