music video of "Karma Hotel" - by Spooks. this is a re-uploading of a video that was in my old acount that was disabled. Hope you like it... Please leave your comment. Thank you!
Why are the Spooks not on these horror hip hop genre lists? They have this uniquely subtle way of creeping tf outta your soul. Lol Not only with lyrics but the melodies and instrumental arrangements. Altogether it melts into a weird soul penetrating effect. Like I can feel a change in my energy listening/ watching. Scary.
Daaaamn nostalgia ! I still remember when this clip passed on Tv, just before I went to swimming pool with my sister and lil' bro. Then I met the most beautiful girl with such green eyes...god ! Since that, I associate this song to her. This song is dedicaced to you..Emmanuelle :)
My family fried who passed away about 8 years ago, his brother was the lead rapper and he taught so many people about music, this song was actually based on the first time he listened to hotel California by the eagles.
This is what I consider hip hop, my little cousins that try to rap don't get that I'm judging them against this type of stuff verses what's on the radio these days. Classic track right here.
They had talent... they never popped off, but they had a neo soul kind of vibe. This was average back then while Jay Z was in his prime. They'd run circles around the mumble rappers that use the same prepackaged drums on every beat made on the laptop. Creativity and originality actually meant something until about 10 years ago. Now the consumer has no standards, and these marginally literate victims of the public school system are hustling trap songs.
Cll 3 Well that fibe is still there, but it's been replaced with wanna be gangster, stoner, and rapping about materialism. That's the exact opposite of what hip hop represents actually. But it's still alive and breathing, you just have to look harder to find it. Then again, we have internet. It's easy to find ;)
0Diazzz0 True... but quality control was lost with the rise of the internet, drag and drop technology, and removal of any barrier to entry. It's like the NSA tapping everyone's phone.. too much of a good thing is bad. Qaulity music is like finding a needle in a haystack these days. Everyone with dreams of becoming Puffy can upload their music. At least in the past you had to impress a producer enough to work with you, and perform enough so that an A&R took interest.
I came back to this song for 2 reasons, the memories mainly. This song has always had a haunting vibe to it and that's probably what attracted me to it. I remember when this song first came out when I was young and carefree, and to this day this song is still a banger. The second reason I came back was because I started playing a game called Hotel Manager Simulator . It reminded me of this song, and I named my hotel "Karma Hotel", I listen as I'm playing 😅
LYRICS Welcome....... To the....... Karma......... Hoooooooo......... Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Karma Hotel, I'm staying on the thirteenth floor, Suite double oh four, and wondering what's in store, I'm always down for a night of sin, but first a nights swim would be cool, Changed my clothes and went down to the pool, As soon as the water and my skin touched adrenaline rushed, But what's the purpose of that glowing light beneath the surface, I'm kind of nervous, so I'm told to explore it but not far, Before the pool changes to a graveyard, I look around and see hundreds of people laying down at their gravestones, The earth opened up and sucked them underground, But I'm not ready to die, yelled to the sky, 'Do I have to follow?' A voice said 'You might as well, your life is hollow', Filling your emptiness with drugs and cash, but for real though, Those spices consistently bring you back to zero, the words echoing in my head suddenly back in my bed, The phone's ringing, I pick it up and hear the voices singing, Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Peep the gamblin' scene Gettin' dough as he rambled the fiends Exotic queens dancin' with tamborines And the Gambler's theme One eye open, one eye scopin' Watchin' his gat, watchin' his back Watchin' his stack, watchin' his wrap Watchin' his deck, as people notice like "OH DAMN! Boy just won a hundred grand!" "Where? Where?" "Oh my God, at Table Seven, did you see him yet?" Look at his chips, all that green growin' like Chia Pets Meanwhile, somehow, somethin' is kinda eerie About this place that he seems to be payin' a permanent visit to Every face he sees, expressionless, like a mannequin He really wants to leave, but stays cool, to avoid panickin' He's gettin' the same attention, but somethin' seems sorta different He's wrinklin' up, losin' weight, and his body's startin' to stiffen Now he notices years have passed in one night He made more cash than we could imagine, but never lived life Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Pleased to meet you, Macristo's the name Pretty young thing Come into my room, I'd like to play a game, it's called "Doom" Beat the friends and family Gotta give yourself to me By the way, what's your name? Eve Check the scenery Looks so happy, at the same time The way they're entwined seems so good it's a crime Believe in me as I believe in you, live it up tonight Well alright I feel I've got all of my life! Expected, one life to live, don't respect it Respect what? Ooh, you poor child you've been neglected Cristo why do I feel so cold? It's like each time I climax you take a piece of my soul You could never leave, you made a pact with the Devil himself Infected in my family of trust, my daughter of lust So what you're tellin' me is I can't leave! And I'm trapped here for eternity! Oooooohhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell Welcome to the Karma Hotel Looks like Heaven but could be Hell Where pleasant screams transform to yells And every suite casts its own spell
Oh man.. the memories.. how come they've disappeared? Oh, right. They didn't sing about expensive cars, ginormous stereos nor how many girls they could hook up in one night..
my first weekend camp with the ACF this song was played over and over all weekend. I still have so many great mates from this time and this song just brought me back lots of great memories :) cheers x

This definately brings back old memories, i remember sitting on the sofa watching this video and thinking it was creepy when it came out. That along with Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood

That female singer just blows me away, remember this coming out in the early 00s, amazing, brilliant why did they not carry on
not enough success in the us but the went gold in multiple European countries so idk
One of the group members got killed
Most underrated song ever.
am telling you
Underrated band period.
Hotel California and hip hop ;) Love it.
Most underrated music act of all time. Their conscious/spiritual/ethereal vibes are pure magic
Agreed
Thank you Spooks for leaving us with these great songs that will last us through eternity. That lady's voice is so heavenly.
À very strong voice, and angel like 😊

I still like to listen to this song. 2019!!!
2024🙂↕️
Always loved this song. I get a Hotel California vibe from it :)
this song gives me goosebumps man. The lyrics are soo real. Hip-Hop seems to have visited the Karma Hotel, and we lost it. Miss this sound.

I can hear the influence of the eagles.
dayum my childhood , i miss the golden time ... Spooks made sick music
This intelligent crew is slept on! 💯
Wake up ppl 👀
Real talk
You know it..they knew it
They were trash
They were being watched.
They were absolutely awesome. The balance between the styes was epic.
This is a great throwback tune, not big, but still memorable for a good 2000s mix
I never knew this video existed ....Love this track and album.R.I.P. Water Water
Her voice is just so damn amazing. I think if water-water didn't die in a car accident they would have blown up more than they did.
I guess you could say; water-water not under the bridge.
Oh my goodness, I never knew they lost a member. Oh you just messed my childhood memories up.

Judge them against canibus, killah priest, krino, vinny paz and other less famous real rappers. Don´t compare them to nobodies please. ;)

Welcome to the Karma Hotel
Looks like Heaven but could be Hell
Where pleasant screams transform to yells
And every suite casts its own spell
Welcome to the Karma Hotel
Looks like Heaven but could be Hell

And every suite casts its own spell
Karma Hotel, I'm staying on the thirteenth floor,
Suite double oh four, and wondering what's in store,
I'm always down for a night of sin, but first a nights swim would be cool,
Changed my clothes and went down to the pool,
As soon as the water and my skin touched adrenaline rushed,
But what's the purpose of that glowing light beneath the surface,
I'm kind of nervous, so I'm told to explore it but not far,
Before the pool changes to a graveyard,
I look around and see hundreds of people laying down at their gravestones,
The earth opened up and sucked them underground,
But I'm not ready to die, yelled to the sky,
'Do I have to follow?' A voice said 'You might as well, your life is hollow',
Filling your emptiness with drugs and cash, but for real though,
Those spices consistently bring you back to zero,
the words echoing in my head suddenly back in my bed,

Welcome to the Karma Hotel
Looks like Heaven but could be Hell
Where pleasant screams transform to yells
And every suite casts its own spell
Peep the gamblin' scene
Gettin' dough as he rambled the fiends
Exotic queens dancin' with tamborines
And the Gambler's theme
One eye open, one eye scopin'
Watchin' his gat, watchin' his back
Watchin' his stack, watchin' his wrap
Watchin' his deck, as people notice like
"OH DAMN! Boy just won a hundred grand!"
"Where? Where?" "Oh my God, at Table Seven, did you see him yet?"
Look at his chips, all that green growin' like Chia Pets
Meanwhile, somehow, somethin' is kinda eerie
About this place that he seems to be payin' a permanent visit to

He's gettin' the same attention, but somethin' seems sorta different
He's wrinklin' up, losin' weight, and his body's startin' to stiffen
Now he notices years have passed in one night
He made more cash than we could imagine, but never lived life
Welcome to the Karma Hotel
Looks like Heaven but could be Hell
Where pleasant screams transform to yells
And every suite casts its own spell
Welcome to the Karma Hotel

Where pleasant screams transform to yells
And every suite casts its own spell
Pleased to meet you, Macristo's the name
Pretty young thing
Come into my room, I'd like to play a game, it's called "Doom"
Beat the friends and family
Gotta give yourself to me
By the way, what's your name?

I love this song ❤ i will recommend this group as much as I can
I remember this. great tune. 1st verse is dark, the guy gambling at the table all night realises years have passed and he's old now..damn....
Why do I feel so cold, it's like each time I climax they take a piece of my soul.
Deep.
THANK YOU! Even so it's edited. So many memories from 10 years ago. Did i say THANK you?

Still loving this song in 2024
My first ever CD, still have it. Thumbs up for listening in 2013.
2020! Love the harmony tho haha
You guys should hear the album version. It's very different from this clean version.
Aha I came here to say this. I always heard the clean version and thought it was just a Halloween song, but Spotify has the real gangsta version.
I love the Spooks. They had this very mellow cool tunes, mixed with rap that for once wasn't about 'bitches and dough' and whatever, thank the gods!
Love it! So many great things come bk to me when I listen to this. Xxx
I just remembered this song!!!
Fecking A - i used to love this song as a kid and i found it by mistake!! AHHH the memories!
What happened to Spooks???
20년 전? 그 때 처음 듣고 넘 좋아서 아직도 외우고 흥얼거리는 노래
I haven't heard this song in ages me and my sisters used to sing it in her car whenever we were out driving :P
I forgot about Spooks til I just saw SIOSOS on my shelf. damn.
TUNE love it. Reminds me my old pad 96
96? I'm sure was 2001?
First group i mention when underrated rap groups come up in conversation
This song bops
true most underated band
Why oh Why did they split?? and why don't we hear tunes like this no more? :( Spooks Rule!
Can’t believe I’m admitting this but I was searching songs with my name in the title 😂
Nothing wrong with that.
Beautiful name
I wish it was a movie...
This is a good Hallowe'en group, their songs have spooky lyrics as is their name!
Why do I feel like I'm the only one to notice the first verse being swapped out?! Not a single comment mentioning that and I don't really get why it needed to be changed 🤔
Hits different April of 2020
This whole album was hot. S.I.O.S.I.S. blew my mind away. It's a sound that hip hop is missing and that is why it's dead.
...like NAS said? Hip Hop is dead
I have this album on repeat every month. I don't joke with my Spooks. Their music is a very rare gem.
@@chukemmang they were correct when they said "the unorthodox rhyme execution that Spooks use may leave you, the consumer, mildly confused..." . It was as if they knew that only a select few, such as yourself, would be on their level.

True story... This group considered never showing their faces.
did she write all the music aswell?? Great sounds..
this should be a american horror story season 5 theme song😂
They used Hotel California which fits just as well I think if you listen to the lyrics!

Modern take on hotel California don't you think?
I have just made that connection while just listening to "Hotel California". Quite possibly in answer to you question.
exactly! good call.
I was just thinking about that and I looked here and wanted to say so, but you already did
There are definitely some similarities, but I think Hotel California was specifically about addiction, while this is a bit different, verse 1 is about drugs, verse 2 about the rat race, and verse 3 about pornography.
Great comment, you're right!
Took me all these years to decide these stories are metaphors for addiction! I’m sure others have their theories though?
what's sick about it.......... this is an amazing song & vido, can you not see the co-realtion between this & Hotel California.
it is a peace of mind from old times.... i enjoied it... sorry for my english.... :D
You can download it from Limewire, but the first thing he says is "Karma hotel Lobby and I'm looking for enlightment." if you want to know if ou got the right one.
This comment did not age well :P
A better location than Hotel Transylvania.
The "this is how they snatch your soul" song
Careful. You might do what we tried to do. ... wake folks up.
