    I met Bernie about 20 years ago when he travelled about 70 miles to my flat to see some vinyl albums I had advertised for sale. We hit it off immediately and he stayed about 4 hours talking about records, guitars and the music business in general. I heard lots of interesting stories including how he came by The Beast. I ended up gifting him the albums he was interested in and a few days later a big parcel turned up unannounced full of CDs, videos and all manner of stuff he had sent me. He was a smashing bloke who is sorely missed by many.

    Bernie seemed like such a down to earth awesome person, I never met him but I've watched tons of videos and enjoyed listening to him talking about guitars especially his 1959 Les Paul "The beast" I hope the family holds on to that one it's extremely special and has a rich history...
    Sadly, only Doctors, Lawyers and Elite people will get these guitars and they'll sit in cases and probably never make music ever again..
    If I had a vintage 1959 Les Paul or any of these other gems I'd 100% be playing it a making new music with it and keeping it's heritage alive..
    I Imagine a couple will end up with Bonamassa and the MLB owner guy with his museum...
    Us mere mortals will just have to watch and cringe at the fact these amazing instruments will end up as wall hangers behind acrylic cases...
    My condolences to the family...

    I First saw Bernie Marsden Play live with Whitesnake at Wolverhampton Lafayette Club(UK) in 1978.Great band live. (Note.When David Coverdale walked on this tiny Stage... He put his Fist through the Polystyrene Ceiling).Everybody laughed and they All went on to Play a Great Set. I've also met Bernie Several times to speak with him and to See him Play at the Robin2 Club Bilston,Wolverhampton (Uk).He was a kind old Soul with No Air's or Grace's about him. A Most Affable Gentleman Right up until his Passing. R.I.P BERNIE you're sadly Missed. KINDEST REGARDS MICK HILL. Wolverhampton (UK).🙏🎸🇬🇧😊

    @31:50 that Gold Top is not an original 50s. Original 57s had a thinner body than 58-60. And Original 57 bodies could have as many as 5 pieces of wood. I have played 3 originals and just in the video I can tell it is a reissue maybe made in the early 80s.

    That 50/70s Gibson Les Paul goldtop has a decent dished/contoured top. The “58” or rather 54 goldtop 71/72 reissue had a more domed top lacking the sanded dished top from 1968 and 50s gold tops. If you look at the control cavity it should show a more accurate range mfg date. If 70s reissue the pots are mostly dated with 1377142. Caps the red/black bumblebee 2nd version. Otherwise caps should be grey tiger type.

    First item: there were no Korean Squiers in 1980 or 1981. The very first Squiers were Japanese and didn't appear until 1982. Would have been made in 1987 at the earliest.

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct. As per the catalogue listing, it was made in 1988. An error on my part whilst commenting on the fly, looking at the serial that has an E1 prefix 🤦‍♂️ . It’s even more annoying for me as I happen to know a lot about Squier guitars 😂😅

  • @fearnpol4938
    @fearnpol4938 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The Squier is 100% NOT from 1981 as they were made in Japan and looked nothing like that one.
    They all had body truss Rod adjustment not that 90’s style.

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Correct. It will be around 89 as stated in the catalogue. Not really sure why I said 81 to be honest. Too much information to rattle off all at once maybe. Thanks for pointing this out

    That first "Stacks" Squier is definitely NOT from 1980-81, Fender Japan wasn't in existence, (let alone Korean made Squiers) and didn't even start making Squier models until 1982. I'm not sure what you were thinking there! Maybe it's 90-91? 🙂

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you are correct. An error there. Had a funny 5 minutes! These videos are largely recorded live so there will always be the odd moment. I think it was because I was looking at the serial that has an E1 prefix as I was talking. I happen to know quite a bit about the Silver Series Japanese made Strats, which makes this comment a little worse!! 😂 As per the published catalogue description it is made in Korea circa 1990.

    • @GHguitarauctions
      @GHguitarauctions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s the latter. 1981/2 too early for Korean Squiers. Said 81 accidentally as it has an E1 serial prefix, which would be correct for a US made Fender, but not the Squier instruments! 😅 Facts correct in the first video and as per the official catalogue listing 🙂👍
