Aww congratulations! I knew that was the secret. I think for a full turtleneck, if you want it to hug your neck but still stretch big enough to comfortably slip over your head, you need fabric that can stretch at least 2 1/2 times it's width. You can test this by holding the fabric 2 inches apart and stretch it as far as it can go. It should stretch to at least 5 inches. If it does not have enough stretch, the other option is to put a zipper up the back. A lot of turtleneck style tops had neck zippers in the 70's.

You can totally achieve the tighter neck fit by making the collar piece smaller than the neck hole and around the same measurement of your neck! Since your fabric has stretch, you can stretch your collar piece into the neck hole! Make sure your fabric has enough stretch to go over your head and you’re good to go! Tips from a technical pattern maker! Love what you created here as always!!

And please when (if!) you make baby clothes on your channel, could you sometimes include projects that could be scaled up? My daughter will be past her first birthday when your baby is born but I’d still love to make some of your projects.
