Stuart, I love your videos. I am 70 years old and just started painting during covid. When everything was locked down, I discovered you tube and could get supplies delivered. Right now you are quite literally getting me through chemotherapy ,I don't have the energy to paint but watching you and listening to your voice and your wry sense of humor gets me through some very difficult nights. So keep on making long videos and get in the way as much as you want 😂. You never know who or how much you're helping. Hope you're feeling well .
Also these videos should have so many more views its a shame that so many silly videos get millions of hits and terrific art like this stays unknown to most. This man is a true treasure one of my top 5 TH-cam channels of all time.
I had to break the video into three parts but I really enjoyed the longer format and hearing your thoughts as you paint. Thank you so very much for your work. I hope you feel how much your work is appreciated!
I’m a professional quilter which is a very quiet activity. I “watch” you paint, only occasionally glancing up to see the progress on the painting. You are ASMR for me. I do paint, but not oil, with watercolor, so I watch not so much for your technique, but for your attitude. Make the video as long as it takes; I’ll watch all of it.
I also have heart failure. I remember your video when you first discussed it, and spoke about how it affected your voice. I had the exact same symptom! Nice to know I wasn’t doolally. Three stents in my widowmaker artery, a pacemaker, and multiple hospitalizations, I too have my good days and bad. Love your work and your videos. Keep painting is my new mantra.
I'm sorry to hear that. I agree totally with your last sentence, keep painting, it keeps my mind off daily stresses and we all know stress doesn't help! I hope you have more good days.
I’m a late blooming 🧑🏻🎨 & watch you every night. I deal with chronic pain, sleep is difficult so I put your channel on auto-play & do my best to absorb the lessons. Your wonderful voice is so rich & comforting, chatting to me till I fall asleep. No Stuart YOU AREN’T boring! You’re a gift to us! A mentor & a friend❤
I love long videos of yours! It took me a few sessions to watch it all. One reason I love them is because they are more relaxing, knowing that they will not abruptly end. They allow me to fully imerse over time.
Just happened upon this most wonderful video. Love your work and your pleasant instructional rambling. One of the nice things about your platform is that you do not inundate us with music. The silence, with just your voice is, at least to me, what makes the video very watchful…no distractions. Thank you!
Hi Stuart, I was diagnosed with heart failure in 2019 and I was fitted with a pacemaker with its own defibrillator, thankfully I have been OK and my heart is getting stronger, also on medication, hang in there
Very enjoyable! I especially enjoyed the ultra close ups of you "fiddling" with the trees! It showed the swrilling technique in great detail! Looking forward to the next zoom class! Stay well!!!
Thank you for your time spent with us and the conversation along with the wonderful painting today. I hope you can stay happy and healthy and as always im sure i speak for many of us and thank you greatly for all of the past and future videos you gift us with.
Hi Stuart, glad to see you still painting these wonderful landscape scenes that are so brilliantly tonal and representative of your impressionistic style. I really enjoyed listening to your commentary as you progressed with this lovely scenery. The additions such as the water and the lightening of the field, in the lower right of your canvas, really make a difference and give the eye. something else to focus on. As always, Stuart, a really masterful work in which one can find more things to add in. Looking forward to seeing the final painting. Also a wonderful addition to this video is the fact that your wife entered the room clearly concerned about the length of time you had taken. I guess she was making sure you were OK. And added a distinct comment... lol. ❤😅😂
So incredibly beautiful thank you Stuart for sharing your talent and God who gave them to you. I love your sense of humor and the visit from your wife was fun too, glad you didn't edit that out😊 watching your videos are so inspiring I watch them start to finish. Please don't strain yourself by bending and reaching uncomfortably in consideration of your viewers. Just pause for moment so we can absorb your amazing creations.
I was glued to you painting this fabulous panoramic vista, your technique, your humour and 'interesting' rambling. Just be you, nothing to fix or worry about, I love it all 😊🥰🖌️🎨.
Today is my birthday and what a treat for me this morning. I'm in bed with my bowl of cereal, a cup of tea and ma wee dug, relaxing watching your fascinating style of painting, You are painting the clouds now and Wow your good. 👍👍👍 Now I want to dust off the old oils and have a bash. Thank you for your brilliant videos and inspiration and a happy start to my happy birthday day. 😁👌👌👌
THANKYOU Stuarte l enjoyed every second of your excellent video and talking l admire your technique and love your paintings my regards to your wife popping in she has a sweet voice keep well lots of love.xxxxxxx
I loved watching this video! Easy breezy and uncomplicated. My painting tend to get to detailed and I want to get away from that … and here you are LOL. I grew up in Dorset, UK. Now, living in Western Canada. Your paintings take my mind home to some wonderful memories. Speaking of which… I too have a “just before sleep” daily playback memory that just happens. Only mine tends to focus on conversation with snip-it’s of video. I did not realize that I sometimes talk in my sleep of conversations that happened many years ago. Horrifying for my husband LOL Please keep the Videos coming … the length of it did not bother me at all… I stop it when I need to and come back to it when I can watch. Thank you.
Stuart you are my favourite TH-cam artist! I love your confidence and creativity. You are most generous with your comments as you work! Getting into the mind of an artist at work is an amazing experience for the listener. You are the only one who shares sooo much! Thank you! Good luck with your health issues. Thank you very much for your kindness in sharing. 😊
I’ve only started watching you paint whilst sick in bed and you are pretty life like on my 40” TV, you have enticed me back into wanting to paint in oils again, acrylics are ok, but sometimes dry too quick, but still love pastels. I like how you use the larger brushes and paper to wipe away marks. Thank you.
No problem at all if they are long, more the better. I don’t always sit and watch them in one go but you can always go back the next day. So don t worry, take your time.
Thank you, Mr Davies. You are a 'painters painter'. I found you by accident just now, I have to rush but I will be back! Thank you , thank you, thank you, from an expat Brit painter.
I love to paint in acrylics and never thought oils would be something I would do…but thanks to you I’m starting to play with them. Take care and know that you inspire me and many others.
I absolutely love watching you paint, I have learned a lot about painting, I paint it has enhanced my work. Thank you Mr Davie, I am praying for you. And the LORD loves you❤
Love to hear to talk and paint...your wisdom is awesome... monument valley is very spiritual and beautiful...you know you're always in my thoughts brother
I have always enjoyed your paintings and your methods you use. It feels quite natural to kind of let it flow onto the canvas. I really enjoy your landscapes with dynamic skys and colors. You have a wonderful flare for creating a kind of contrast in both the landscape and sky that really stands out to me. I just wanted to share this with you and say, yes it is very interesting and no your paintings are not dark and dreadful to me at all, I really like them. 🙂
I so enjoyed this video: love the effect and softening with the vibrant green. Agree with previous comment on simply listening to Stuart’s musings and associative side remarks. ☕️🌙🌸🐈
I hope u use a sm fan for the fumes ? I love the time u get to push your paints around. but I couldn't handle breathing the smells. Ill have to use more water in mine😂
This is a really great one Stuart!!! I love it! Wishing you all the best and good health too...I have a weak(ish) heart and many years ago was told by an elderly RNurse to make sure I get enough "huffy puffy" exercise... so have been walking a lot these past years, it does the mind and body a lot of good...
That canvas/linen..just by the drum of it, seems amazing! I like seeing every step of someones work. How it comes about is important. Long doesn't matter, this is a big area. There was a point, on the right hand side of that tree "sausage" where another tree was added, but lighter. In seconds it was perfect! Distant, shaded. To me it shot that grove back into perspective. Volog's portrait videos are cut & edited. How his hair colors come about, ochres, siennas..loose, but put in precisely. You cant really see his process. Great easel he made. We get these tornado super cells here. The color in these things are amazing! Green/blue from ice in the cloud, lighting above it & below..usually over farm land. Very similar to your land. That layer of air you left from the royal blue drying, was just as it looks under these storms. Nice painting. I hope your health improves! If your tired, rest. My heart problem is left sided. Octopus trap they refer to it. At one point I'd be out of breath just going up 3 stairs, thats how bad it got. Better now though. It was hard to slow down, being so used to a fast pace. Best of luck, look forward to seeing your work. Ps..I asked my doctor "wasn't viagra created for heart patients originally, for overall blood flow?" He laughed! But I was serious, why isn't it used in proper doses so the heart doesn't have to work so hard, by opening passages? That was its real purpose.
This is exactly what I needed today!! 😃 Edit: I’m an hour and 21 minutes into this. That is a heck of a sky!Very Turner-esque. That Japanese Red was a perfect choice College gave you your living, which probably wouldn’t have been possible without that degree & training. That said, I take your meaning.
Oh my gosh I just tried this granted on a very small canvas but I found it really hard to get the softened horizon line showing the depth I wanted. I kept raising my horizon line. Going to go wipe all this off. So I can try to start over. You make this appear easy but it is not. You are amazing. I had paint all over my hands my nose...ugh
Yet another gorgeous and maybe ~ attainable for many of us. Odly hopeful, sen though my efforts never turn out exactly or close to your effects; something satisfying comes out of the painting as though I've subconsciously internalized some of your methods and words of encouragement and explanation. Thanks so much, Stuart, and for those super comments of greg interest on each video.
Your paintings rock, despite the distinct absence of palm trees, or, for that matter, lack of deserts. Take good care of yerself, 'cos this world needs as many good painters as possible.
Do you ever watch your videos and see things you wish you had caught in real time ? There was 2 moments in this one that I thought why did he cover over that bit it was really nice !
Hello Sir, Let me start by saying I really love your channel. Your painting and toutorils are wonderful! I am a nurse of 30 years and I have a great deal of experience with CHF (congestive heart failure). I cannot express enough how important it is to really limit your sodium intake, avoid sodium all together and use substitute when cooking. Stay hydrated but don't throw yourself into fluid overload. Often those with CHF have a fluid restriction as ordered by their cardiologist such as "no more than X ounces per day". Maintain a good blood pressure, eat lean proteins and less red meat and move around. Take a nice walk each day for exercise. Love & light your way. My best, Lisa from Ohio

Very nice to see you back, you are by far my favorite You Tube Artist and I immensely enjoy your videos! Incredible landscapes..
Just finished watching this fantastic vid Stuart, beautiful painting!
I so enjoyed this video: love the effect and softening with the vibrant green. Agree with previous comment on simply listening to Stuart’s musings and associative side remarks. ☕️🌙🌸🐈
Beautiful! Just beautiful! And the size is great. It helps to give a real sense of actually looking out over a field into the distance.

There are no fumes, because I don't use thinners or turpentine.

Beautiful as always !!!
Liking the longer format. 🙂 Please don't speed anything up, though. Happy to watch every second in real time. 👍
Woooooow that sky ,, it is so dramatic and just beautiful ..wow
I would LOVE to see you do an electrical storm or a lightning storm .with those dramatic clouds it would be amazing

Do you ever watch your videos and see things you wish you had caught in real time ? There was 2 moments in this one that I thought why did he cover over that bit it was really nice !
One of the first things I say to my students is, know when to stop. Sometimes I miss the point when I should have stopped.
Hello Sir,
Let me start by saying I really love your channel. Your painting and toutorils are wonderful!

Wow it's epic 👍
Naj bolji ste! ❤
Please don’t worry about getting in the way. Personally I don’t think it’s as bad as you think Lol. Love this painting.
I always watch all of the video, nothing else matters. By the way I also had a heart valve issue a year ago in April.
1:12:00 Everyone looks at me like I’m crazy when I mention recent sun spot activity. Thank you. Keep painting.
Well done that man, how do you go about painting raindrops falling on someone face😊???
I don't!
Sorry to hear that hope you feel better.
❤
More more from such an interesting artist🤗 do you have a defibrillator?
Thank you! No I don't need one... yet!
A great evening watching this video, loved it. Quick question Stuart, do you not use so much oil with your paints as you used to ?
Thanks! I think it's because I mostly paint on wood now, which means the paint needs less oil.
Ha loved "got to draw the line somewhere!
nobody can compare to vladimir please!! but you are really great doing this landscapes. Love them, I'll try your tecnique. I do portrates but can do landscapes. ironic! love your work. Thanks for sharing

Greetings Stuart!! Much love from your biggest fan in the USA 😁
Wow very nice Painting Stuart. I like you style in Painting. I still always follow you channel. I want to ask One questions can i use colour Sap Green. Burnt seinna , llemon yellow anda white.
Why are you using an expensive linen canvas? Can you explain why you chose to use linen canvas vs your usual hardwood panel? Thank You. ....And by the way happy that you’re feeling better.
Thank you! I just like the feel of linen canvas, plus I will sell this painting and the buyer prefers canvas.
When you said keep "kour spirits up," I thought "keep your mineral spirits up" ... Except, on your advice, I don't use those. 😀 💚🙏
😄
I paint, and I like your paintings, but if your videos were just you sitting in a chair talking about whatever popped into your mind, I would still watch and enjoy them.
Feel the same. Could listen for hours.
Second that ❤
he’s the Dave Bull of painting
Hope u feel better 😊walk those landscapes❤an maybe wear a glove to keep the chemicals off your fingers n out of blood stream. Ty for the x-tra paint in the sky🖌u r awesome.
Couldn’t have said it better! Stuart we love being in the same room with you. Occasionally, we need to know you in here with us!❤❤❤
??????An interesting thing to put in storm clouds is lightening. How would you paint that in?????
I am new to painting and very new to oils and really enjoy good videos. I am also new to heart failure and is not so much fun.
It is absolutely appropriate to keep saying interesting.
Let's face it, if creating things isn't interesting, is it going to serve a creative purpose? 💚🙏💚
😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Bonjour , I like That ,,,very nice quel médium vous employez ,please, I am french , thanks
Bonjour, Juste de l'huile de lin.
What would royal blue be in let’s say winsor and newton oils? Cerulean?
That's as close as you'll get with Windsor & Newton. A bit too turquoise for me.
