My library card expired, so I called my local library and asked if my dad could renew it for me. They said no, I have to be there in person, even after I told them that’s physically impossible. I can’t go there in person. They still told me no. This is very helpful. I didn’t know you could get an out-of-state library card.
I want everyone to understand one thing: you do not own any digital books or audio books you buy. Amazon/Kobo etc. have right to modify and eliminate any electronic content you have. That is because you don't actually buy electronic content from them, you lent it for life. Never forget to read terms and condition.
That’s right. I still buy physical books, movies, and music and audiobooks of my favorites but electronic media for convenience to carry around on my ereader and phone. At some point subscriptions will be expensive. Used bookstores & libraries are your friends. Bibliophiles unite!😊❤
I have a Nook that I only use when I am travelling, I am currently reading The Striker by: Ana Huang, the Barnes and Noble edition, I am almost finished, it is so good
Scribd is now Everand, they rebranded this year. To my understanding, their limits are based on your country, the publisher, and/or the author and they only apply to a billing month before they reset. I have read a considerable number of audiobooks through it and while I have reached a limit a couple times, I have just moved on to different audiobooks that I had saved that weren't on the wait list. I might have had to wait for a week or two for the next in a series, but it never was all that much of a deterrent. I have also noticed that if I removed some downloads or removed some from my Saved list, it freed up some that were in the wait list. So it might also depend on those factors as well. Overall, it is still my favorite and most used paid audiobook subscription app! Audible doesn't have the Kindle integration here in Canada, so it doesn't have as much appeal. I just got the $0.99/month for 3 months deal and will likely cancel my subscription after that. A lot of the books in their Plus catalogue that I would like to read can be found in Everand or my library or Kobo Plus anyway.
The Kindle App is the only app that I am aware of that has in-app text-to-speech function. This is ONLY on the iOS or Android apps, NOT on the Kindle devices themselves. My understanding is that text-to-speech on books toes the line of copyright infringement of the audiobook, so I believe that is why no other apps use it. Amazon being Amazon, they either don't care or they own the rights anyway, I'm not sure how it works. The Kindle App text-to-speech also works on library books that have been sent there from Libby! This is assuming the library and the ebook itself are Kindle-compatible - some countries don't utilize Kindle for ebooks, they may use Overdrive/Kobo instead. USA uses Kindle (but double check with your library), Canada uses Overdrive/Kobo, and I know Australia doesn't use Kindle but I don't know if they also use Overdrive or another platform. Hope this helps!

Contact the branch manager. If unhelpful, find a higher manager. Someone will work with you
I live in Orange County and can confirm it’s really good! Especially with Hoopla but we have both Libby and Hoopla

Hey Tori what is the best thing to use for digital reading if you are visually impaired or legally blind😊
