Hi, great review! One thing missing in my case when using reporting to do more complex outputs is interactivity being present in dashboards (or active reports). The main difference users would remark when building "dashboards" as reports for them.

Nice video. I have no idea why IBM just doesn't build on Report Studio... I consulted for external clients using Cognos for years and there are always very specific requirements (Always)... Because these products are sold in pre-sales to do whatever the customer wants(sky is the limit)... So when customers after a snazzy pre-sales cycle buy the product for allot of money and the Director wants to hover over a microchart and see another enlarged chart or the need for parent child relationships is needed to have a list with multiple charts corresponding to the item list(Scorecarding, etc..)... Dashboarding just falls apart. Customizing was almost always the rule not the exception. If you did go about doing something simple in dashboarding and later had to convert to reporting you could get yourself into trouble because there is some visual jazz stuff in dashboarding that reporting doesn't always replicate the same way and the customer will soon end up being a bit disappointed about losing that. Anyways I just don't know why they don't embrace and polish the Report Studio product to be the power house for all things and create skinny skins for the dashboarding but still based on report studio... rather than painfully having developers delicately straddling a product w identity problems.

This was a very good video - thanks Ryan. One thing that I’ve just started to do is explore the options to deliver dashboards on a mobile device- might be worth a short video?

Thanks for this useful video Ryan, just as I like, right to the point. In my opinion the Active Reports are awesome combination of reports and dashboards. Because they are also schedulable, it is possible to give users (even daily if needed) the .mht output of it and let them navigate through the output. Without execution time and performance. I couldn’t find any video in your library about Active Reports. Would it be possible to make one? I am sure that will also be goed as your other videos.
    Best Regards,
    Murat

How to become good at it. Any point of starting for new users like me.

I’m wondering this too, have you found any material for learning more about it?
I have a strong background in Tableau and have been able to pick up a lot of what this tool has to offer in 2 weeks. I guess its just to keep getting exposure to it.

I think, it's honestly not worth it to learn this technology since the market is very small.I would suggest specializing in MS Products instead with the launch of Fabric things are getting very interesting. DP600 and PL-300

Not being able to sort on data within a dashboard crosstab is a shocking omission.

The crosstabs need A LOT of help.
